well, there are a lot of pc quality games out there, but most are just not the "GOTY" type, which is perfectly fine.
The question is, when can you make a thread or post without hating on the pc, just say something else innovative ok?
You can do it, I have faith in you.Â

yeah, don't make fun of PC....pc is cow's biggest defense guard :)
by their logic, "why not buy ps3 and pc to play all the 360 games"
My one and only valid argument against hermits is this: "I don't like game mouse games, I like gamepad games like fighters and platfromers and hack 'n' slashers" although it's true to me, consoles aren't about those anymore! Aren't you a PC gamer, TC? You name is "NCsoftlover'. NC soft is a PC MMO developer. :? Is there another NCSoft I don't know about?Nerkcon
I like to play games on pc, NCsoft is a MMO developer who developing games like dream raja,  Aion and LineAge series, and publish games like city of heroes, tabula rasa, guild wars... I like their games, but I certainly did not  make this thread. ;)
What do you think about that Hermits? GioVela2010We don't care 0_o. Most hermits have consoles to play on the side, you know that right?

At school all i got is this laptop. At home I have 4 gaming PCs, a Wii and a 360 (and last gen consoles).1996 - diablo
1997 - total annihilation
1998 - Grim fandango
1999 - OOT
2000 - Sims
2001 - GTA 3

2003 - Legend of Zelda
2004 - WoW
2005 - RE4
2006 - Gears of War
2007 - SMG
2008 - unknown
According to wikipedia's page on GS GOTY, the bolded are PC exclusives and the rest are consoles. (GTA 3, Gears of War, and RE4 were all ported to the PC however)
5/11 are PC GOTY
7/11 are Consoles
Is this right?
5/11 are PC GOTYWell, Gio conveniently stopped counting at 2001.7/11 are Consoles
Is this right

Also, your counting method is a little confusing too. Apparently, 8 of those eleven were on the PC, and 7 were on a console. (5 different consoles no less)

Ocarina of Time definitely came out in 1998, and I'm almost 100 percent sure The Sims came out in 1999.
Also, you wonder why a game like Grim Fandango won over all the other console games in 1998? It's because they weren't competing against each other. GameSpot used to only award GOTY to PC games, but that changed in either 2000 or 2001.
So maybe you should start counting when consoles were actually taking into account? That'd be nice. So it's either 2000 or 2001, and consoles dominated.

Considering Gio is biased, it only makes sense that he would stop at a certain year in order to make consoles win. And yeah,I realize that some games are released on PC but I counted the games that were released that year for GOTY. So since PC versions of GTA 3, RE4, and GeOW were released after the GOTY was announced, I didn't count it.Â
But yeah, pitting 5 console games against PC only puts the PC on a higher pedestal.Â

You're right about OOT but The sims did come out in 2000. But what won GOTY 1999?
COnsidering the TC did not specify what year to start at, I counted all the GS GOTYs.Â
How about you read my post?

I was typing that post while you posted yours. Sorry I can't mash f5 all the time.

It seems you are right. So the current system was first implemented in 2002.
Thus, the exclusive tally goes to:
Gamecube:2
PC: 1
Wii: 1
And the Multiplat tally goes to:
Gamecube: 3
PC: 3
Wii: 2
360: 1
Not exactly domination, but I get your point. It seems Nintendo is responsible for the majority of GoTYs.

How'd you find out?
Lol.... I think it's time I should go to bed. Also I think everyone makes these thread because I think everyone agrees with me that hardcore hermits are the worst! :DNerkconqft
Hey, sorry AgentFred and BladeEagle for being so cynical and cruel to you guys for not knowing something that is hard to know about. I was just angry when BladeEagle stated something about putting all consoles against PC or something like that. But yeah, sorry 'bout that. :oops:DeathScape666
Meh. Let the thread die.
[QUOTE="bladeeagle"]How'd you find out?agentfredWikipedia. Before 2002, they had a PC and Console GoTY chosen separately.
Â
Exactly, and ever since they merged to once overall goty Consoels have won 6 of 7 8)
Just because a game gets an award doesn't mean that everyone will like it better than a game that didn't. Awards and reviews are both opinions.... and not everyone shares the same opinion.
Umm... odd, I noticed that there are two PC GOTY's on Wikipedia and three other GOTY games that came to PC with upgrades.
PC GOTY's:
2001: Serious Sam: The First Encounter
2004: World of WarCraft
GOTY games that came to PC:
2001: Grand Theft Auto III
2005: Resident Evil 4
2006: Gears of War
Lets also not forget that every year prior to 2001 the PC had a GOTY. Out of the 12 years Gamespot has given out GOTY awards, 9 of them have been games available on PC.foxhound_fox
Â
LMAO you just called RE4 on pc an upgrade, you have lost all credibility ever....7.8 games..
Â
Â
I think that I have been EXTREMELY busy playing some awesome PC games. So much so that I have been posting extremely rarely.
Edit: Also what are you trying to accomplish with threads like this? Grow up. PC games are great and always have been. They will continue to be great. I enjoy PC gaming WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more than console gaming. Explain to me why you think PC needs to die.
I don't think it's out soon enough to be considered. ISn't the cut off date December 1st?THE GOTY will be Prince of Persia
soranobody
God, these threads are so stupid.
There just used to bring out the fanboy in everyone, not only that but just like jasonheyman's threads they usually contain huge amounts of Suck and Fail and are usually diminished in about 2 pages.
I swear, If you care so much about PC gaming, then why dont you sit down and actually PLAY it, i heard theres some good games on there, by creating thread after thread about Pc gaming, it shows you like it even more, because you pay so much more attetion to it than console gaming.
Its quite sad really, the System of your choice is not even they system you care about that much, let alone talk about it..
So you have to gang up the three consoles together to take on the PC huh... And even then the PC has won almost half of the GOTY awards so far as shown in this thread.RuinedMachineLet's pit the GameCube against the PC. Now, consoles started counting for GOTY in 2002, so we'll start there. GameCube life's ended in 2005, so we'll stop there. 2002- Metroid Prime (GameCube) 2003- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GameCube) 2004- World of Warcraft (PC) 2005- Resident Evil 4 (GameCube, eventually came to PC) 3 to 1. Looks like you can pit one system against the PC. Even if you do include 2006 and 2007, GameCube still wins. Hell, I think it's fair to include the Wii since it is the successor to the GameCube. So even if you include the games that eventually became multiplatform a year later, Nintendo still wins 4 to 3. And if you only include the games that were out on the PC when they got GOTY, it's 4 to 1 with Nintendo winning. 2006- Gears of War (XBox 360, eventually came to PC) 2007- Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) Also, the PC version of Resident Evil 4 sucks, hence the 7.8 score. Don't say "higher standards" without reading the review first.

Fair enough, but he still has a good point, the haters like Giovewhatevererererre, still think this is Console vs PC Wars, when its not, its PS3 vs PC vs Wii vs 360.
That being said, I would much rather the PCs library in those years that the small ammount of gems that the GC had to offer... regaurdless of "Goty" statues...

You do know that Gamespot used to be a PC Gaming Only website right? And when they started doing consoles they had seperate GOTY''s for all the consoles combined and a seperate GOTY for PC. If Gamespot used to lump all the consoles together to get 1 Console GOTY why can't I lump all consoles together? Â
And like I said, ever since Gamespot changed to a one Overall GOTY sytem Consoles have won 5 of the last 6 GOTY's, (6 of 7 after this years MGS4)
Gamecube won 3 GOTY awards and look how that turned out.
Wii and 360 each have 1 GOTY and look how that's turning out.
The chances of a GOTY being not on console is much greater as there are three consoles compared to one PC. What a suprise. If there weren't more GOTY awards I'd be suprised that would be very bad how three platforms wouldn't exceed one.Â
