See the BS IW started? I hope PC gamers really stick it to them and not buy this overpriced DRM ridden game. IW took the leap of faith and everyone now wants to follow along. If this starts becoming the norm I am pretty sure piracy is going to be at a new record high and the devs would blame the poor sales on it.

Atleast we PC gamers are in the fortunate position to still play the game without contributing to their revenue. ^_^

its amazing that when companies overcharge for stuff and load it with useless "drm" that they are surprised that it gets pirated more.

Penny Arcade got it right again.

Tycho:

For my part, I'm aware that people copy games - I was twelve once, after all - but the extent to which piracy is accepted as a valid ethos is absurd. It's considered the appropriate response to so many scenarios that the notion of it as an outgrowth of any coherent ethical framework is hilarious. It's so, so rad when people tart up their nihilism.

Though to be fair, they were talking about the DRM.

But still... $60 is ridiculous.

I bet it'll get pirated at least 1 million times this year. High price plus DRM = piracy on PC

About IW's role model, I wouldn't worry about it.

It will not catch on. CoD already had a name for itself which helped sell those millions, so they could've done anything they wanted with the game and receive the same results.

Bioware could've sold PC Mass Effect 2 at $60, but they sold the core game at $50 and the special edition at $60. Metro 2033 will be $50, along with RF: Guerilla for free. Napoleon: Total War is $40 with the special edition being $50. Bioshock 2 - $50. Alien vs. Predator - $50. Bad Company 2 - $50. Supreme Comander 2 - $50. IW has not done as much damage as a lot of people think, but it doesn't excuse what they did. IW can't change PC gaming by itself.

You've probably seen many other PC owners rethink their purchase on ACII after hearing of the DRM. Let Ubisoft blame piracy and move on. Nothing to stress over.

2 games at $60 made by greedy developers =/= the future. I figure episodic content is the future for us PC gamers, uh yeah...And lots and lots of DRM. :( Also, high PC game prices just invite it to be pirated, low prices on PC = Game sales.

I wouldn't even pay 30 for that crappy game.

Honestly, i heard such great things that it fixed everything the original did wrong. Not a chance in hell, still the same old borefest.

If I can wait until the first AC is $5 on Direct 2 Drive I sure as hell can do the same for this game. Luckily by then a crack will have been released to get rid of the DRM.

The last five PC games I've bought certainly weren't $60 and didn't have DRM nearly as draconian as Ubisoft's. Infact, two games, both ME2 and Dragon Age, have no DRM, only a cd check. On the topic: I fully support people pirating the hell out of this game. I could careless about this game, the developers and the other crap the release.

I have little doubt a trend is starting. AC2 isn't even a massive blockbuster game like MW2 was. Might be wrong, but I think sooner or later it will be 60 bucks for a popular game.

And someone mentioned episodic gaming. I think that would be WORSE. As you'd basically be paying anywhere from 70 to 100+ for an entire game broken up.

I was willing to give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt on their intrusive and oft-maligned DRM, on the assumption that Assassin's Creed 2, a 3 month old game, would - at the very least - debut at $49.99 for the PC. It's impossible to defend them anymore. Assassin's Creed 2 for the PC is the definition of fail.

They are ruining the greatness of PC gaming by not allowing mods, adding DRM, and increasing the price. They want to make PC gaming uncomfortable as they can and force PC gamers into consoles where the companies can have full control over them.

They probably charge 10$ more because they spent so much money on its DRM protection. Funny how DRM is causing more harm than good in more ways than one.

They defended the price stating that the PC version comes with the DLC. Either way, I bought this game for my PS3 and it's a waste of time. Don't throw your money away.

It's not becoming a norm, if you actually knew anything about the release you would know that it includes the DLC, on consoles that package costs somewhere 80$. Yes there should have been a normal edition 50$ and collectors edition 60$, but im not complaining, and neither should you.

IDK about this game anymore. I was planning on getting it regardless of price, but the whole "must be online" thing really killed it for me. I thought Windows Live was pretty bad, but at least I can play it in offline mode :?.

I really don't get this: They want to combat piracy but all they do is riddle their game with DRM and up the price to $60, which ONLY screws over the legitemit customer and thus will only lead to more people pirating...

I sure won't be paying 200+ dollars for a game. This ain't neogeo.

That's not the point, console games are 60 due to royalty fees, but PC games have no owner, so how can they justify jacking up the price?
