Whatdo you all think? Should Sony have stuck with rumble or do you think that 6 axis was the way to go and it was agood sacrifice? Honest answers please.

I believe there are a couple of game reviews that has stated that the 6-axis control didn't work that well. I'm a traditionalist, so appart from buying a periferal like a flight stick or steering wheel, I like my controllers like there current design (360 controller obviously)

I know there are reports of a new pad, but that is an entirely different thread that has some mention of Milkage in it :P

Considering that Sony is adding rumble to the sixaxis controller, I personally don't miss rumble at all. The majority of games I play are PC games and my keyboard and mouse doesn't have rumble. It is nice of Sony to bring it to the sixaxis though for those that want rumble, but for me it wasn't really a big deal.

That's not what I'm asking. Do you like it, is it very good, what benefits have you noticed or does it have problems, is it awkward, does it feel poorly used?

oh yea. They've returned. I wouldn't be surprised if there are now more cows than lemmings since all I see nowadays are threads like "Halo 3 sucks", "MGS4 will be the best" "PS3 is now the new king because of E3", etc, etc...

We laid down the Killzownage when Guerrila delivered. It was the spark of good news for Sony.

Anyways, I would pick neither. They both suck. But since Sixxaxis functions as extra input, it is better. I never used rumble much for PS2.

I personally perfer rumble over sixaxis. I've only played a few games that make use (NBA and NCAA 2k hoops, and Call of Duty). In the hoops games, I turn on the analog free throws rather than Sixaxis, and it wasn't more than a gimmick in COD. Thinking about it though, I haven't missed or really even noticed the lack of rumble in the sixaxis controller.

Have you tried a 360 with rumble on? I really like it and gives the gamer an extra sense (see what I did there).

To answer your question, I prefer the rumble cuz they haven't really made a game that takes full advantage of the 6aXis. But hopefully that rumored controller is coming.

It's weird but I don't think people do notice when it's missing, but do notice when it's on a immersing them more...as strange as that sounds.

It's an output. The only games that actually made use of it were games like Silent Hill and MGS with their heartbeat sensor thingy.

Tilt is an input and is being used more frequently. Mostly in a gimmick way so I'm not supporting it completely. But Warhawk shows a more decent way of using it.

Should Sony have stuck with rumble? I think you're assuming that Sony made a decision to do away with rumble. Truth is there was a lawsuit with them and Immersion that prevented them from using Rumble. They tried to act as if Rumble didn't matter in the process by introducing sixaxis. I think rumble is going to return sometime this year in conjunction with the sixaxis. Oh and sixaxis is still very new to devs. Can't expect some reveloutionary use of it this early in it's lifespan now can we? I'm waiting to see how they use it in Lair before I say sixaxis is useless.

both, although loco roco is the only game suited for the sixaxis. (and flyig a warhawk)

most gameplay mechics with sixaxis are stupid imo. (rolling in a barrel with snake in MGS4 being the worst idea)

I perfer sixaxis. Although they are not many games at the moment that take advantage of the sixaxis games like Warhawk will which will change your experience of the game. Once devs get off the but and start thinking of cool ways to use the sixaxis in gameplay we well have a hell of a controller. Beside i dont really miss rumble anyway.

gotta say Rumble. I barely (if ever) use the six axis facility. Its gonna be weird playin MGS4 without rumble evey time the "!" comes above a guards head (after they've seen you)

Does it really matter when we are going to have a controller that has both?

If I had to choose I would take Six Axis. Both are not needed and just enhance the experience, but while playing the PS3 I don't even notice rumble missing.

Well according to the maker of DIRT, they've used rumble in the game and once the new controller is out it will work. Hopefully Kojima does the same thing.

As far as the topic, I don't even notice the rumble missing. As far as the sixaxis stuff, I've only used it in NBA2K7 and thought it was great. It didn't ruin the experience, and it was up to you to use it if you wanted too. It added a new element to the game without ruining it.

They're going to release a rumbling SIXAXIS soon since the lawsuit has been settled. But if I had to pick one, it would be rumble.

I'd say both too.

Really, I could take either without the other. I've been playing PS3 since last x-mas and haven't missed rumble once., seriously. Just the same, and obviously easier, would be to have rumble and no six-axis. But six-axis is getting put into more and more games. And they are getting better and better at developing for it. So to really judge the six-axis, we need to wait another year. We need to wait until its used properly so that gamers can start using it, and so gamers will start being good while using it.
