With Halo's use of a regenerating shield, it seems that most games are doing the same thing. Except some games don't make sense when they use it (ie: no shield or anything), it still serves to improve gameplay.stop reading after u mentioned bioshock...pretty much u havent even play it...cuz u have to use first aid kits
In Bioshock, as well as countless others nowadays, you simply need to take cover for some time before you die and you'll be good as new. Most games do this nowadays, and it's great. I guess thanks to Halo.
I can't think of another game that did it before Halo (eventually, Halo 2 got rid of health packs completely, but Halo introduced the recharge shield). Yay for innovation.Chief_Vash

so is halo the first game to use this?
or was there games b4 that used it, cuz i cant remember any b4 halo and i never owned a PS.
but personnally i hate having to use healthpackshalokillerz
Yeah, really its so lame having to use something like strategy to survive in a FPS. I mean, ITS A FPS,you should be able to just run in a room and kill people and not even get hurt.
Dude its been done before in other games, and games like MOH still do health packs. rofl, how new are you to the fps genre? I mean to a certain degree it was even done in MGS games. Adrian_Cloud
He didn't say no other game uses health packs. And what game did it before? :?

Don't know about others, but when I played through BioShock, you had a health bar, and used health packs and food to keep it up...

He said "most games" made after the release of Halo started using the self-regenerative healing method. This is what people are responding to It's not trueit saved fpses because once you killed one guy you were already low on health and then next guy turns the corner and ur dead unless you pulled something amazing off.hello12367890
Saved FPSs?
Tell me, did Half-life flop? Did Doom flop? Did Far Cry flop? Were these games saved by a consolified health system? No.

It 'saved FPSs' by making them making them easier for console players?
Heh, I thought they just added it to make up for the relatively poor controls (compared to the PC) on the Xbox controller.
In any case, I haven't played a single shooter with this regenerating health system, and I've played quite a few...so perhaps this mostly appears on console shooters?

This is why the whole console shooter fanboys annoy me. It's this or something like auto aim is necessary
because in real life you dont use a health pack to cure yourself..you just gotta wait it out to get better..idk but it is weird..KushstrainOf course. If you get shot in real life all you need to do is find te nearest box, kneel behind it, and youre as good as new in 45 seconds.
Health Pack seems more logical especially for games like CSGarchomProhealth packs are goodin counter strike? that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard. counter strike is about realism, not health packs
[QUOTE="ArisShadows"]I hate health packs..VideoGameGuy*cuts self with knife and stand perfectly still* ......dang it... *goes to get band-aid*
I still hate 'em..
i have played a few games when u regenerated from under 25hp to max of 25 hp? this was in fearmetalisticpain
yes I liked it somewhat.
