So GOTY between Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Arkham City, and Gears of War 3

Now that the biggest flop in Gamespot history has occured. These are the nominees for GOTY. Which one do you think has the best shot and explain why.

Uncharted 3 - No explanation as to why this game is GOTY worthy. Best cinematic action/adventure game since Uncharted 2.

Skyrim - Follow up to Oblivion and definitely worthy of GOTY but has so many glitches and bugs. Overall a great game.

Dark Souls - Awesome game just like Demon's Souls but will the sequel also get GOTY? This seems the least probable IMO.

Arkham City - Great chance of GOTY, highest scoring game this gen and improves on Arkham Asylum in every possible way.

Gears of War 3 - One of the best action/adventure games this year and huge improvement over Gears of War 2.

Skyrim takes the cake, hands down.

I'm hoping for skyrim and arkham city. You shouldn't even bother with UC3, the general consensus with GS staff is that it's worse than UC2.

Don't kill me for saying this but.... as well as batman AC is.... i think for a game it sucks in terms of gameplay and fun. Yes it is extremely well made... but satisfactory I would say no..... they could have done a lot better gameplay wise.

UC3 > UC2 in every damn way IMO. Well, except for the bullcrap aiming they put in. Besides that I'd never go back to UC2.

General conscience. If it was by score, SMG2 or SC2 would've been GOTY last year. UC2 would've had GOTY in 2009 as well.

I say take out LA Noire and put Deus Ex in there. I know it got 8.5, but there's no way LA Noire will be nominated I think. That or LBP2.

Yes, they managed to learn how to play a massive free roam game that allows you do thousands of things, but they couldn't figure out how to play another Zelda game.

I don't think they'll put Deus Ex in there with their boss battle complaint for it. That and GS loved LA Noire. And I think LBP2 will make it as well. We'll see in a few weeks when they reveal their nominees, but I think this is a solid indication of what GS may have.

Skyrim's a solid game, but not really GOTY material in my mind. Not outstanding in any way. I'd probably give it to Portal 2 or The Witcher 2...but I guess it'll be either Arkham City or Dark Souls.

I don't understand how Skyrim gets a free pass when the game is infested with glitches, lag, texture problems, game save glitches, bugs that can make it nearly unplayable. Skyrim is an amazing game but Bethesda doesn't deserve it, especially with treating the PS3 version of the game so poorly compared to the superior X360 version.

I think Arkham City has the best shot at it. It literally has no flaws.

Didn't come out in the US, but too many people are forgetting Xenoblade. The best traditional JRPG on current consoles, and even score-wise on Gamespot, it can stand with Skyrim, Portal 2, Batman, Uncharted 3, etc.

I'm wondering if the US-based GS will nominate the game though? I know they reviewed it, but it's not available for where they're located. I know they have the UK and AU offices, but I wonder if that will be enough for Xenoblade to be nominated.

They pick 10 nominees. Then vote/discuss from there. I guess it would help to know each of the editors' favorite few games and what they would likely pull for most. Keep in mind that Kevin Van Lord has great influence over mere mortals.

He's also got pretty decent taste in games though.

Portal 2 for being innovational or Skyrim for its greatness.

But Uncharted 3 for perfecting Third Person Shooters :P

Tough call. Skyrim is my favorite out of the ones I've played so far (Skyrim, Batman, Gears). I've only played for a few hours though. It is awesome so far. Next would be Batman.

Why is Gears 3 on there and not Portal 2? I am torn between Uncharted 3, Portal 2, and Skyrim.
