Think about it...

I'm not a huge Halo fan, seeing as I am a big PC gamer, but I have to point this out because I think the Halo series has taken too much negativity when it hasn't had the chance to build on them or respond to them. (By negativity I mean saying things like "Modern Warfare is much better than Halo, halo sucks" when Halo never had the chance to counter it considering it came out before them)

Now they do have a chance to respond. With Halo Reach.

Yeah, Modern Warfare 2 is coming out next week and is undoubtedly the most anticipated and the sequel to one of the greatest shooters of all time...

HOWEVER, lets backtrack. Do you remember the surprise (and awe honestly) when Halo 1 came out? It was such an excellent shooter. Now shooters have evolved into even better, more customizable games with unparalleled multi-player capability.

Now put yourself in Bungie's shoes. They have been around to see the release of Call of Duty's new revolutionary games... and games like Crysis, Uncharted, and any other great FPS you can think of...
Bungie created Halo, and at the time that was a feat and such an accomplishment on their part. Now that same company, has other games to look at and build off of and ultimately compete with.

Now, SERIOUSLY think about it. Bungie will pull out all the stops with this game. They will add new weapons and customization options (obviously) and features to counter Modern Warfare and Uncharted, etc.

They have to if they want any sales and any credibility in the future. They are a smart company, they know this.

So all in all, I am predicting a Halo game with a comparable campaign experience to Halo one, and more. A more robust and customizable multi-player. A better engine. And a complete re-brand of what we see the Halo series as now. Which is basically a game that has great multi-player but hasn't lived up to its potential overall.

But, considering Bungie... Id say that opinion will change, unless you're just that stubborn.

They had a chance to respond with ODST and they released what could be considered a Halo 3 expansion.

Lol true. It wasn't that great besides firefight... And it definitely should have been cheaper, or downloadable...

And I know there isn't much information but you have to keep it in the context of who Bungie is.

Their games are already being thrown off to the side and its not like they are blind from noticing it, and they are gonna have to try much harder with Reach, which I expect them to.

I don't think Halo games are being thrown off to a side, halo 3 probably still has the most played MP this gen and ODST sold in its first week more than most games sell in a lifetime. I think they know Halo became a fad so they are trying to milk it the most before they think about making anything different. Reach is going to be more of the same I bet.

I'm fearful of it being more of the same as well. But at the same time, I think Bungie knows it needs to step it up. So hopefully I'm right, for the sake of a better Halo game.

Bungie will no longer do Halo, this is their last Halo game, a MS studio will do all of Halo after this (I think their name is 343 or something).

it'll be a great game, just too bad that it won't come out for Pc as well. consoles are starting to show their age, I'd like to see good games like Uncharted, Halo etc. being ported to the pc, that'd be fair to game lovers.

I am pretty sure, which is even better seeing as this is Bungie's last Halo game they will put everything into it.

Why do you doubt it? Even ODST, "The most different entry in the series" as Halo fanboys like to call it, is almost IDENTICAL to Halo 3 gameplay wise. 2 new guns and a new visor? Wow. Feels so much different than the Master Chief days.

It is the most different out of all the Halo games.

Its a Halo 3 expansion, so if it feels like Halo 3, all is well.

I doubt it because your view of the game's turnout before it comes out is just as credible as mine. AKA Its not.

I'm just speculating. You say it as if its a scientific fact.

Don't get me wrong, I know it'll be a good game... it's Halo. But let's be honest, Bungie hasn't done a whole lot new with the CORE GAMEPLAY of Halo(not including Halo Wars) since Combat Evolved. And by that trend I don't think Reach will be much different either. Based on the leaked pics we already know the game is going to have mostly the same guns if I remember correctly.

That's only 5 screens.

I really can't speculate any more than you can, but I'm just putting my opinion out there. And that is that Bungie will try to make the series more fresh and make a lot of improvements to the game, considering that there are other good shooters out there so their old model wont fly for long. I mean, this IS their last game, they aren't gonna half-ass it.

If they do though... shame on them

And I take back what I said about the sceenshots, even though they are very early, I think they are an improvement over Halo 3.

I don't understand this comment. Sequels feel like the game that came before them. This should be common knowledge. They're not new games. They are sequels, and barring a large technological/ generation gap in the case of Killzone, I'd expect the sequel to feel like the rest of the series. This is true of the CoD series. This is true of the Fable series, the Gears of War series. Last gen's GTA game - hell, I don't even think GTA 4 drastically stepped away from the formula. Saints Row to Saints Row 2.

Halo sequels are more similar to each other than pretty much just about any other series out there though IMO though... and I just find that hard to understand because it's such a big franchise. You'd think they'd be bringing something creative and new to the table gameplay wise with every entry but honestly aside from the graphical differences and a few weapons here and there I probably would barely be able to tell the difference between CE, 2, and 3 if I played all 3 in the same sitting.

To be fair, Call of Duty 4's online multiplayer was a fairly epic rip-off of Halo 3's online setup anyway. It's not like bungie have to 'respond' to developers who are imitating them.

Only that's nonsense, as the biggest complaint lobied at Halo 2 from the fans was that it changed too much from CE.

Why do you doubt it? Even ODST, "The most different entry in the series" as Halo fanboys like to call it, is almost IDENTICAL to Halo 3 gameplay wise. 2 new guns and a new visor? Wow. Feels so much different than the Master Chief days. :roll:Messiahbolical-

Its obvious you have not played ODST. :|

Because the ****of gameplay is totally different. It's a detective story inspired by film noir. The way the story is told is completely different to any Halo game in the past. All you've done is break it down to the two most obvious editions which, like he said, makes it somewhat obvious that you haven't played the game.

[QUOTE="Messiahbolical-"] The majority of people didn't complain at all though.

The biggest complaint about Halo 2 was that it changed too much from Halo 1. Therefore, like i just said, to say 'halo 2 was exactly the same as halo 1' is ridiculous, as it wasn't. It was different enough for people to complain that it was TOO different.

[QUOTE="Messiahbolical-"] Don't get me wrong, I know it'll be a good game...

Messiahbolical-

To each there own, I guess. I find enough variations in the gameplay between each game to appreciate them all as unique experiences.

It was an expansion. Halo 3: ODST

Odrec
Not according to most lemming and the price tag :)

Not an expansion. A spinoff for sure, but not an expansion. Console gamers don't seem to know the difference.

2 was the worse Halo out of CE, 2, and 3 IMO. I liked CE the best, then 3. But it's not like 2 was bad. I didn't think it changed much at all TBH. The biggest change was dual wielding but that's not saying much.
