What are Sony's, Microsoft's, and Nintendo's most hardcore gaming series?

Sonova... :evil:None of them
Closest is maybe Demon's Souls but that isn't a series

I don't think hardcore is the same as hard.
By console game standards, a game that holds your hand as little as Demon's Souls does is pretty hardcore.

Eponique
What console game standards? There are plenty of difficult console games.
Like I said. Hardcore is not the same as hard.Maybe I'm biased because I grew up with legitimately "hardcore games" (the original Mario games are much more hardcore than the Souls series is), but I think it's kind of pathetic that those games get so much praise for actually punishing you for dying. DarkLink77
Maybe, but that's the state of games these days.
Out of curiousity, what makes Mario more hardcore than Souls?

It's harder overall, it requires an insane amount of dedication to master, it's easier to die, it punishes you just as hard, and if you fail to much, you have to start at the beginning or the world.Sony:
Demon's Souls
Nintendo:
Fire Emblem
Advance Wars
Sin & Punishment
Edit* I'm using only 1st Party IPs.

So what is hardcore?
To me a game that has a significant barrier for entry is hardcore. A game that doesn't hold your hand or meet you halfway, but demands to be played on its own terms. ie the opposite of casual.[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"]Maybe I'm biased because I grew up with legitimately "hardcore games" (the original Mario games are much more hardcore than the Souls series is), but I think it's kind of pathetic that those games get so much praise for actually punishing you for dying. There are more than enough console games that meet this standard.

Not so much these days. Can't believe none of you are saying WipEout. tisk tiskShadowDeathXI don't think I ever layed Wipeout. But if I were to say Wipeout I would've included F-Zero on my list though that isn't a currently used IP at the moment.
[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"]If someone says Demon's/Dark Souls, I'm gonna lose it.DarkLink77Why? Because they're not that hard. hardcore doesn't mean "hard", its just a gamer thats willing to devote time/energy to something, demon souls and dark souls while aren't hard, you can't exactly beat playing casually, you have to put effort into building your charcter and planning on how you'll take rooms.
lol hardcore console games.Cherokee_Jack
mmhmm the nday a console has a "hardcore" game on its hands is the day we can categorize fighting games in that category XD. till then the pc has all the hardcore franchises. we need only mutter the word "quake" or "ut" or "starcraft" to send the ants fleeing for their lives

Why wouldn't fighting games already be hardcore?
