My opnion: Yes, because of SMG.

No.
No Wii game has beaten the Chronicles of Riddick, Ninja Gaiden Black, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory in the graphics department.
Resident Evil 4: Wii edition got a 9 in graphics and it's 2 year old Gamecube game! what does that say to you? The answer is in my sig.
i say yes...just because Mario galaxy looks better than any game i've seen on the xbox, as does metroid prime 3. Even read over at n4g.com that metroid prime 3 "looks beautiful", and "looks light years ahead of Halo 2 on the original xbox, showing that the Wii has more horsepower than the Xbox." Which is dumb anyway lol...of course the Wii is supposed to be more powerful than the xbox. duble_Needler23
Does MP3 have a single normal map? How is the AI? Do multiple factions battle it out before your eyes? If you've never played an Xbox game, then you don't understand the power of Xbox. This isn't a fanboy talking. The Xbox was a next-gen system. The Wii is a small white Gamcube with flash memory and an over-clocked Gekko CPU.
The Wii will never have a game that beats Halo 1 (a 6 year old game) in terms of scale, normal maps, AI, and physics. The Xbox GPU supports shaders.Berserker_2And so does the GameCube and Wii GPUs. The difference is the shaders in the Xbox GPU are more flexible, allowing more leeway with development. But if you seriously don't believe the Wii GPU supports shaders, you're either ignorant or in denial.
Here's an example of an Xbox game. It is not the best pic of this game, either. Can the Wii do this? Absolutley not. No shaders on Wii. Sorry, guys, but Bill Gates didn't spend 2 billion on Xbox 1 for no reason.
not yet, you will have to wait until August 27th, November 12th, and December 3rd to really get your answers. ;)kansasdude2009
We already have our answer- no need to wait.

Chronicles of Riddick was a great and beautiful game graphically.
I don't know about all the shaders and what not, but I don't see a Wii game even close to this.
Chronicles of Riddick doesn't look as clean as that on the Xbox...Here's an example of an Xbox game. It is not the best pic of this game, either. Can the Wii do this? Absolutley not. No shaders on Wii. Sorry, guys, but Bill Gates didn't spend 2 billion on Xbox 1 for no reason.

Thanks. You should see the pic of Riddick that I just posted.

The Wii can do normal maps or shaders... they just arn't standard... you have to do custom shaders, and mapping.
I would say that the Wii will most likely end up more powerful, as system's improve graphically over their lifespan, but right now it's on par with the best the Xbox ever offered if not a little below.Sacred-Snow
If you put the games side-by-side, the Wii games would look obsolete.

Exactly. There's a difference between not being standard and not being there at all. Here's an example of an Xbox game. It is not the best pic of this game, either. Can the Wii do this? Absolutley not. No shaders on Wii. Sorry, guys, but Bill Gates didn't spend 2 billion on Xbox 1 for no reason.

first of all they not that much 3rd party company on the wii to make games like that wait till the wii get more 3rd party company to make those kind of games so uhave 2 wait fan boy
Though I have to ask.
Why does Luigi's Mansion, a LAUNCH GC game, look better than most of the games on the Wii?
TheOneMan
because most developers don't put any effort in getting the most out of the TEV unit...

The Atari 2600 can do shaders, if it has 10,000 years to render a scene. In fact, you can use pencil and paper mathmatics to generate a normal map. The GC and Wii do not have the hardware to perform these calculations in real-time. The Xbox does.

Conker:Live and Reloaded looked better than Chronicles for the xbox

Same reason it looks better than most p2 games.

SMG looks better than Conker. It even beats it at fur shading.Though I have to ask.

Part of the issue is that Nintendo has made the argument that "graphics don't matter". They probably lowered their standards in terms of graphics. Perhaps they even encouraged weak graphics because of this philosphy.
Though I have to ask.Time, most likely. Games take time to make. For example, Luigi's Mansion. Luigi's Mansion was in development years before the GameCube launched. That's plenty of time to get a lot out of a system. By contrast, most Wii games began development after E3 2006, and many of those are ports of older games. That's not enough time to really utilize a system, even if it is a more familiar machine like the Wii. I've been saying for a while this fall will give us a better idea of the real power the Wii has. And from games like Brawl and Galaxy, it looks like it's got more than we've been giving it credit for.Why does Luigi's Mansion, a LAUNCH GC game, look better than most of the games on the Wii?
TheOneMan
it already has wonYeah it started verry dull but slowly the wii starts to win the past generation gfx race!

Actually it does... and the GC has it too... it's called the TEV unit... it's basicaly just there for programable shaders and other effects...

I actually agree. I played, beat, and quite enjoyed the game... but I don't remember it looking so sharp. Perhaps my eyes?
