Yup, Im always on Gamespot preaching to people to not bash a game if they havent played it and yet I always bashed Fallout3 without giving it a chance. Anyways, I decided to go out today and buy the game to see for myself (My brother has the X360 version but I got the PC version anyways...If you are gonna play a game, might as well play it right :) ). So anyways, now that I have finally played the game I can say this, it is definitely better than Oblivion. Yes, It does have an "Oblivion with guns" feel to it, but the combat is far more exciting than in Oblivion. This is partially due to the more modernized weapons and the inclusion of the VATS system. Action Points are semi-usless in this game (because you can still attack even if u run out of action points...u just cant use VATS) but I think the VATS system does for sum great kills.
Anyways, before you all tell me "uhh..blog it noob!" I just wanted to admit ownage. No, I dont think this game should have been Fallout 3. I would rather have had the classical more tactical Fallout gameplay with great 3D graphics, but at the same time, this game isnt bad at all. Its an enjoyable game in its own right, I just wish it didnt have to go and take the Fallout name while at it. Anyways, this is by far Bethesda's best game in my opinion. The fighting system seems far better than in the Elder Scroll games, and the inclusion of VATS, while it feels pretty superficial, is still a nice touch.
I would personally give this game a solid 8.
