my God.

This game

is so

very

intense!

Picture the scene - It's a 5 lap of silverstone grand prix and i am in my F355 challenge:

3..

2...

1...

GO!!

It's been a while. I slam down the accelerator (its mid-rear drive) and the rear wheels squeal and buckle in protest. Panicky, i quickly ease off and give my car a chance to "get a grip", and shifting up to 2nd i soar ahead of the rest thanks to a neat little weight reduction upgrade. But the relief is short lived - he first bend is coming up. Taking a wild guess i ease off the throttle and power in at 110, Turning the wheel right round and feeling the back wheels struggle to keep a grip. I miss the grass on the outside by a milimetre and heart in mouth i wham down the throttle yet again.

Right after that is my least favourite bend in the whole game- right angled that gets sharper as you go along. I play it safe and watch with dismay as the F40 whizzes past me, laughing at my caution. So i decide to knock it up a notch (BAM!) and at the next turn, i hit the handbrake and skid all along the sweeping hairpin, clinging on to the wheel so hard it hurts and revving with mega caution. By some miracle i don't spin out.

I'm feeling great. So great that i forget completely about braking for the next bend. I push down on the brakes with all my might and, shifting down frantically, come to almost a complete standstill. It's a disaster, however the day is saved and thanks to some miracle AI intervention the F40 is still behind me. Feeling relieved i get it together and power down the straight and completely ace the last 2 hairpins, coming up incredibly fast and braking for dear life to hit the apex and go out again at an amazing speed. I soar onward and complete the first lap.

But it's not over yet........

Epic.

For the record all this transpired on champion difficulty - Simulation damage, no assists (including teh nubzor ABS), AI on hard, and most galling of all, no racing line. With the force feedback wheel it is one hell of an experience.

In fact i would go so far as to call it the king of all racers

so Get playing this game, all of you!

Best racing ever imo. The only "problem" is the lack of interior camera view. After playing PGR3 i just cant play using the outside one!!! Just hope they include it on Forza3.

I didn't really like it, but maybe that is because I don't really like racing games.

Art styIe? It is a racing simulator... :|

If you aren't touching it, its obvious you don't want to play it because its a racing simulator.

And I love Forza 2. Best racing sim I've played (for more than a few hours). I am not a huge fan of the overly hardcore sims like GTR2 and the like. The F333 with no assists on is a thrill ride.

Yes indeed. GT5 isn't even out yet and its obvious you actually have never played Forza 2... or any true racing sim for that matter.

I just revisted it yestarday, and it's painfully obvious I suck at art. Seriously, I just stuck some lightning on a black car and that was me....

Started a new game, which meant deleting the old one (I've done this a couple of times, can they not just put a new game option in?). Still remember everything from my last play through.

I have the opposite issue. I bought Burnout paradise along with Forza 2 (yeah, I am a late adopter). After playing both for a little while, I can't get into Burnout paradise. For me, Forza 2 is a driving masterpiece.

 I don't understand broken controls either, what's wrong with them. Then there is the GT AI....

My only problem with the game is a lack of courses, you end up playing the same courses over and over about 50 times per course during the main game.

Agree 100%...

My favorite is "The ring" endurance race...it took me hours to get a proper car set up for that race...And you just cant put into words how intense and immersing the game is...ONE mistake and your done......you will have to start all over.....When the challenge is about an hour long it means something...

Let me say that again "it means something"..There are no you can bounce off other cars or walls without consequences ...Cant drive like a d-bag....You need to nail your "Standing" start...Have a tested and efficient car set up...Understand the effects of the set up on endurance races so you can have a spot on Pit Strategy....all doing this without assists.....Sim damage ....There is nothing else like it on consoles...

I wish fan boys would get it though there head Grafx is not the way of immersion for this genre....Immersion is quite simply what I stated above...

Forza is a great game. However, it desperately lacks fun factor. It's inredibly realistic and offers true form driving but when the graphics are mediocre and there is no sense of speed then it just isn't appealing after a few races.

GT5P costs two or three times as much as Forza 2 depending on where you go (one advantage to it being a pack in for a while), has about a fifth of the cars, a tiny fraction of the number of tracks, terrible AI, and a pathetic singleplayer 'career' mode. The only thing it has going for it is pretty graphics.

You've never played it or Forza 2, and not to mention, GT5's devs have laughed at a 2010 release date.

The S class one was pretty harsh. I used a Saleen for it, but with the assists off something can easily go wrong if you make a mistake on any of the corners. I ended up sliding off the track about halfway through and banging up my transmission pretty good after a lapse of judgement. I lost a few places limping to the pit, but managed to make it back up by the end of the race. The P1 endurance was was harsh too. I handicapped myself with the BMW car, but even it slides out extremely easily if you punch the gas too hard at any time.

I used enzo with sport tyres. Also if nothing went wrong when you made a mistake then the game would be as tense and thirlling as i described, would it? ;)

It is good, though Id like the next to look more realistic.

What i love doing is getting a cheap car, and just upgrading the angine, nothing else. I do everything to make it faster.

So I go incredibly fast in my small car, easily overtaking the expensive cars, then at the bends everything fails, you dont really turn and in the end you get an extremely quick car with no steering. Then you go for all the other cars :D

save your money. Get GT5 pro, Much better gameLunchBox-

6 tracks and 70 cars is not a better game than one with 16 tracks and over 300 cars. Especially when the latter has better physics and AI.

It would be a good idea to get Forza 2 and a wireless wheel. I couldn't imagine playing the game without the wheel. I really wish MS would suck it up and allow for G25 compatibility.

My favorite is "The ring" endurance race...it took me hours to get a proper car set up for that race...And you just cant put into words how intense and immersing the game is...ONE mistake and your done......you will have to start all over.....When the challenge is about an hour long it means something...masiisam

That is putting it lightly. Normally I play Forza 2 with all the settings on full simulation and normal difficulty. To even come close to passing the Ring endurance in those RSR's, I had to take damage down to cosmetic and difficulty down to easy. I couldn't come close to passing it otherwise. No matter how hard I try, even now, I can barely make it through a single lap on the Ring in any car without screwing up once... and when it comes to the endurance race, one mistake is the end... the pack catches up and passes you since your top speed is chopped down by 10-15mph for any body damage.

Oh yeah.. endurance races are so intense despite being incredibly long. The S-****mugello one is probably one of the most hardcore things i have ever done. No racing line or assists.pi3m4ster

I thought that one was pretty easy. Must have been my racing-tuned Maserati MC12 doing all the work for me.

I liked it from the demo, I usually don't like racing games. Might buy it later.

I've been thinking of picking this up for a long time now since i don't have a good "next gen" racer yet. But i'm not sure if i should wait for the sequel =/

Yup, Forza is the best racer on the track. It's the sim king in SW's. :)
