That there are double sided dual layered DVD's that can hold up to 17.08 gigs of data. That would mean that you can have more data then just the Regular Dual Layered DVD. That would also make disc changing a lot faster because all you have to do if flip the disc around and then close the tray again. So now instead of having 23342353 discs you only have 1.

yeah but you'd have to worry about scratching more than one side, and where would the game title go?

i used to get those with some PC mags. pretty handy. they could use those which would mean less discs need to be manufactured. but its really up to MS on whether we will see those on the 360 or not.

I guess there is room for writing in the center, but could still be confusing with both sides looking the same. Plus what's the price on those things..

i have gotten some movies on double sided DVDs (south park for example...one side for 4:3 and another for 16:9). ive also recieved a few from mags like linux format. sometimes they would put a really big distro such as fedora on one side and then put everything else on the other.

DVD Movies already use those Double sided DVD's.:|

I literally own thousands of DVD movies, this is old, old, old news. They are terrible. I always have hated them.

Either way, you would still have to open the disc tray, and flip it...but now with a fingerprint problem in the longterm (the main reason I hate them, besides the fact I always want WIDESCREEN, and I hate watching the STANDARD 4:3 aspect side before realizing it's the stupid wrong side of the disc! Why is that pesky 4:3 available anyways? It's awful, even for Standard TV's, I would only use the Widescreen option.)

Now, I'm an adult, who is careful with his things.

Imagine children and teenagers that clean DVD's with their t-shirts dealing with these double layered DVD's as a games console format on a regular basis.

Hello, welcome to scratchville.

WHich makes you wonder why MS hasn't adopted it...They like to make their consumer base rebuy stuff every few months, why should their licensed games be any different?

Durabus

Its not exclusive to bluray, its not an inheret bluray spec it HAD to be added to bluray otherwise you'd be using bulky expensive cartridge holders for blurays.

AS for that I don't know why they haven't used double sided dual layered dvd's they could have put a dual reader laser in the 360 so it reads bottom and top.

YOu mean they don't discontinue support for their old products the day the new one comes out like every single version of windows that's been released or Word and even the xbox. You must live in some parallel universe where MS continues to support their products instead of dropping them the moment they even announce something new or slightly updated.

Fanboy? How was that a fanboy comment...I thought it was common knowledge that this is MS's business strategy? Kinda like how I-pods are only built to last about a year before breaking...

not many use double-sided dvd's anymore just because it's easier to scratch or mistreat

besides that, you have to flip the disc over anyways, and it's cheaper for the publisher to buy a second dvd and have the user just put that disc in

Are you serious? XP is still widely used and supported. Vista is still supported, older zune players.. yup, still supported, windows mobile phones that use a version earlier than 7.0 ... yup, still supported. I believe you took one example, the original xbox, their first dive into the gaming industry, which had not taken off too well, and turned that one thing into everything, because you obviously are one of those people who have a blind hatred for Microsoft. Natal was announced, did they drop support for the 360? WOW I can pop in an xbox game into my 360 and play it, can you do that on a PS3? Nope. Sorry, but your opinion is so far off tilt its just embarassing to read.

DVDs are becoming impratical these days

Xbox 360 vs PS3: Round 8: (Media Playback)

i agree. But don't get me wrong I have about 72 dvds and only 40 BR (my brother moved out and he took back his 200+ DVDs).

But the differences (and convenience) are obvious, imo. And like I said before a few months back, people STILL prefer their Hard Copies. No matter how widely popular Digitial Distribution has become.

Yeah, I'd rather use blu ray next gen to be honest. With a faster drive devs could take better advantage of it.

Seriously? Disk Swapping faster? is the .034 seconds of taking the disc out and placing it in with the 2nd disc that much of an inconvenience?

If thats true thats the most useless thing ive heard, how is flipping a disc going to make such a big convenient difference to swapping the disc with another..

They should do what Forza did, and load the content onto another DVD which can then be installed. Even then, swapping a disc is hardly irritating? I actually enjoyed the disc swap in ME2, broke up the action nicely.
