Don't even try to tell me that Dell wasn't a top of the line computer because at one time they were the best selling PC maker the world over and now their gone.

How ever not only is Apple still going strong, but their making better profits every year.

So needless to say i can't wait to hear what PC gamers have to say about one of, if not thee most popular PC computer companies in the world going under.

Dell sucks. Their computers arecrappy and their customer service is even worse. What they had going for them was good marketing and cheap low end computers. Now their advertising sucks and there are cheaper brands out.

for the record dell is cutting jobs not going out of business.

This is a gaming website, and i presume most people here don't even buy Dell. Dell caters for home users or office users who don't play games. Their gaming rigs are pricey. You pay for the brand more than the hardware. And their normal packages have suck ass hardware. So i don't think people here will feel for Dell

Letus not forget that Apple has their hands in many pots and has a pretty good hold on the MP3 market with the iPod and the iPhone is doing rather well too. If PC's were in fact doing as bad as you'd like to make things out to be, why are all games made with Windows in mind and Apple's system as an afterthought? Why is it Apple computers run a Windows emulator so Windows applications can be used on their own system?

Dell was merely a maker of computers, one of many companies out there that make computers. When it comes to Apple and their side of the board, well they don't have much to compete with, you buy a Mac, ya bought from Apple, you buy a PC, who knows where it came from, not to mention that most out there can easily build their own PC without much issue. The PC industry continues to dominate over Apple, that's why Apple has had to lower itself to cheap blows and insults for advertising instead... oh I dunno... talking about what their product does and why you should buy it. Apple's advertising and mindset is that of a fanboy, "lolroflcopter Vista has problems, you suck!" where as Microsoft and other companies supporting the PC, talk about why either Windows is the way to go or why you should buy one of their PCs.

Also way to fail like no other posting an article from over a year ago. Dude! You need to get with the times!

Are you serious ? Apple doesn't need to attack PC's or Microsoft the Windows Vista O.S. is doing a good enough job of failing all on it's own. Why do you think Microsoft is rushing to get this new Windows 7 out a mere year after Vista's release, because Vista is so bug ridden and has such an endless list of problems that no PC user wants to upgrade to it. Now i haven't even seen this Windows 7 yet, but i'll bet you anything it will coincidentally resemble Apples operating system, and by the way Apples are as special as they are because there made 10 times more durable, there much more easy on the eyes and they work, without virus software, spyware and all the other crap thats found on a PC, so please don't even compare PC's to Mac's PC's are not even fit to shine a Mac's shoes. So go ahead and scour your local flea market and piece together your PC, then go and buy the most bug and virus ridden Windows O.S. you can find and keep your fingers crossed that it'll actually work error free for a month or more and i'll stick to my local Apple store where computers are built and custom built to out last even the most expensive PC's.

Vista came out in 2007. You may want to check a calendar it is 2009. Windows 7 looks like it would come out sometime in 2010.

Because they're a business and they need to release new products to make money.

And Vista became a decent OS after SP1 fyi.

Never had a problem with Vista. Sounds like you are just a Mac fanboy who assumes everything you see in their adds is true. I'm assuming they are making Windows 7 because they want to further improve PCs. I don't know how you can insult a company for working on their next product right after a a product is released. Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo all started working on their next consoles shortly after one was released. How do you expect companies to make money if they stop trying to improve their products? Also, my PC will blow your Mac out of the water, and I guarantee it's cheaper.

PC is the way to go for FPS period. Keyboard/Mouse is better than ANY console controller.

MMO's? PC wins again.

Graphics? Overall Hardware? PC.

PCs ARE great for gaming. You can totally build a hardware monster that would slap all over any of the current gen consoles. I game on both consoles AND a PC and I have no complaints really about either. I honestly couldn't be without either one.

Windows is stable if you're not a complete idiot and you know how to use a computer.

[QUOTE="macmutt"] Why do you think Microsoft is rushing to get this new Windows 7 out a mere year after Vista's release, because Vista is so bug ridden and has such an endless list of problems that no PC user wants to upgrade to it.Chaos_HL21

Vista came out in 2007. You may want to check a calendar it is 2009. Windows 7 looks like it would come out sometime in 2010.

Who cares ? Oh okay so it's been out a year and 4 months excuuuse me, point is an O.S. usually has a shelf life of at least 5 years, but word and images of Windows 7 have been circulating for months now, so even if it comes out in 2010, it's still basically forcing Windows users to upgrade yet again. Most Mac software runs on the original version of OS-X which has been around since 2001, unless the software was made recently to run on the newer Intel Macs.

So if Windows is so stable then why is Microsoft rushing out this new Windows 7 O.S. only a year after Vista's release ?macmutt
heh? you have no clue what you are talking about.

Vista released January 2007. Windows 7 will release January 2010.

3 years. And that is just MS going back to their 3 year cycle. Windows XP was an anomaly. The fact that it was 6 years from XP releasing to Vista was very odd for MS.

Ubuntu has a new release every 6 months and it's a great linux distro.

MS has done 3 year cycles for their OS's since they began.... XP was an anomaly that they never intended to repeat.

You don't HAVE to upgrade. Anyways a three year cycle is the usual for Microsoft.

[QUOTE="swazidoughman"][QUOTE="macmutt"] Are you serious ? So go ahead and scour your local flea market and piece together your PC, then go and buy the most bug and virus ridden Windows O.S. you can find and keep your fingers crossed that it'll actually work error free for a month or more and i'll stick to my local Apple store where computers are built and custom built to out last even the most expensive PC's.Foamybrian

Windows is stable if you're not a complete idiot and you know how to use a computer.

I find that the majority of people who bash Vista are those who have never actually used it before and/or are easily impressionable by mainstream opinions. Early Vista had some bugs and performance issues yes, but in its current state it has become quite stable.

Just for the note, when you consider the amount of Windows users to Macs, its pretty obvious Windows will have more malware targetting towards it. If your a douchebag who is devising a virus, it doesn't take much logic for you to decide that targetting the larger user base is more effective.

Also your Mac vs. PC statement emphasizes the reason why mac users get labeled with negative tags that depict blind ignorant fanboys. There are so many things wrong with that comment it's depressing.

You don't seem to get it do you ? i am a Mac user therefore i don't need to bash PC's, i own the most user friendly and reliable computer on the planet, so as far as i'm concerned you have no argument. what is your argument that you have a larger user base, okay, wow good for you, that just means that those people who jumped on board with the first G.U.I. O.S. to hit the market are still following blindly from one incarnation of Windows to the next, However if you put them in front of a Mac long enough for them to familiarize themselves with the O.S., they'd drop the PC in a heart beat, and that's not my opinion it's a fact, in the now 10 years that i have owned a Mac, i have personally converted almost 20 family and friends over to a Mac and they still thank me to this day because they were so tired of pop ups, virus scans, freeze ups, and spyware issues and the list goes on. So you see you have no argument because there isn't one, Macs are better and as for the video games side of it, i am a pro console gamer never gamed on a PC and never will, so again you have no argument there.

Some computer manufacturer going out of business has nothing to do PC's being great, it's when game devs go out of business that it's something to worry about.

well, with all due respect, i'm equally comfortable with both macs and PCs, and while i do like both, i would never really but one above the other. i can accomplish virtually any design/video/audio task equally well with both platforms. and from a cost perspective, the PC wins, hands down. secondly, this is a video game forum, and many users here game on PC. while you may not be a PC gamer yourself, it is a legitimate platform on SW. hence, yes, FoamBryan has a very good argument.

No, TC link was from June 2007, and was just about Dell cutting jobs. Nothing about them going out of business.

Ok so you don't know how to use a computer.

I went to school for computers, i know how to use them, build them , upgrade and repair them, both Mac and PC's, don't believe me the IRQ setting for a sound card is 7, i have configured endless amounts of new hardware in the bios, upgraded sdram, ddrram, installed various cards in parallel ports, master enslaving 2 hard drives to work as one, made windows boot disks to install Windows 98 and XP, manually adjusted a pentium processor to run at max mhz when they were in mhz, doing complete reformats and reinstalling an OS. So guess what i know what i'm talking about and i also know that the countless hours i've spent working on virus ridden, frozen PC's have turned me off of them forever. What a surprise though because once i did switch to Mac, i never, ever needed to fix one of them be it hardware or software, the Macs always worked flawlessly.

ur right dell constomer service sucks, it literally took me hours to order a computer when i phoned them. i was talking to a woman from india who could barely speak english. i tell her what i want and i had to repeat it like a dozen times, then she says stuff back to me and she will have to say it a dozen times so i oculd put together what she is saying. o boy was it horrible :(
