More variety and options regarding gaming in general. However I do game on my consoles just as much as my PC.
1. The games cost less. 2. I prefer the mouse/keyboard control scheme. 3. Almost all of my games will be backwards compatible when I upgrade my computer. 4. MUCH better graphics. 5. It's more convenient not having to deal with discs.PurpleMan5000
This, plus mod support, customizability, and the large indie scene that simply doesn't exist on consoles...
I also like it very much how I can have a platform that can give me the best gaming experience possible, while also not being dedicated to gaming only.I can still use it perfectly fine for anything I want...

One has more control with Keyboard and mouse like in FPS games
- A more immersive experience thanks to better graphics, better performance, and community created modifications.
- A more modern experience thanks to no discs, mostly digitla platform. I cna click on ym game on Steam and be in ther ein 3 seconds. I can get IM'ed by a friend in game and be in another game in another 3 seconds. These things would take a LOt longer to do on consoles.
- More games thanks to a larger library, a more diverse library, a library I don't have to wory about not being "backwards compatible" for.
- Ability to cusumize my experience in any way I choose without some multi-billion dollar corporation having any say in it.
- Always on the cutting edge of technlogy and of the gaming market. It's where the tech future of consoles is born and tested, and it's where new genres and new market trends tend to rise from.

I can get into games more on the PC. It's a much more personal experience. It's right in your face and the audio is all around you.
Then there is the issue of games. There are a lot more games on the PC than there are on the consoles. There are a lot more niche genres and dedicated gaming communities supporting them on the PC. Grab a VoiP server and ArmA 2 for 6 hours of gaming bliss. Just don't get that on the consoles.
Consoles are a lot more straight to business. Here's the game, now play it. Communities are very fragile and don't last long. The game doesn't get serious support from developers or the community. No mods for the community and patches rarely take in player feedback to make the game more. They also try to push more money making schemes in your face far more often.
It's impossible to describe PC gaming communities to console only gamers. It's something that's just a bit different for every person.

because it the best platform to play games?

Pretty much my reasons as well.ShadowDeathX
- Cheaper games.
- Vastly larger library to choose from.
- More variety in games than consoles.
- A more traditional way of playing games. [I don't have to worry about Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo coming over here and forcing use with motion controls. It has been keyboard and mouse for many decades already, and it most likely stay like that for more decades.]
- The freedom to pick the hardware that I want.
- Don't have to worry about backwards compatibly being wiped out next-generation.
- Less input lag. Monitors and Computers spit out video data much quicker than consoles do.
- A more immersive experience.
- The best online gaming experience out of anywhere.
- Free online and no one powerful enough to change that.
- Most development support out any platform.
- PC will always live. Sony might jump out and kill the Playstation brand, Microsoft might do it for Xbox, but no one can kill the PC.
- Mod Support for Games and other unique community created content.
This. It's why every hermit has a pc, to mock the console peasents. That to. My favourite part of the day, to remind the console rabble they are not the master race.[QUOTE="whiskeystrike"]

It depends, if its something PC exclusive then I have nowhere else to get it. If my friends choose to get the PC version I'll get that to play with them. If it offers significant improvements beyond being a port (like Max Payne 3 or Battlefield 3), I'll get it for PC. If its cheaper on PC or there is a sale for it on PC, I get it on PC. There are also many, MANY titles I can choose from years back for cheap and just download, as I no longer have a PS2 game compatible PS3 nor a PS2 I can't really enjoy games from that era outside of PC gaming unless I bought another PS2, while many titles never available on consoles I owned are on Steam or GoG.
But I still love console exclusives, and some titles like LA Noire, Modern Warfare 3 and Mass Effect 3 I got for PS3 because sometimes I want to relax a bit or because those versions offered me something I wouldn't get on PC, or the PC version wasn't some significant huge upgrade.
I actually now have LA Noire for both PC and PS3 since I got it free with my Max Payne 3 Steam pre order, and Mass Effect 3 I simply picked on PS3 because I wanted to carry my ME2 save (I never got into ME1 and simply got ME2 on PS3 so I could still go about the save transfer stuff without having to replay ME1 with my lost save). With Modern Warfare 3 I just got it for free from a friend (I was going to get the 360 version if at all), because I am a HUGE fan of splitscreen, while the lack of friends on PC with it, and no dedicated servers or changes from the console version made it something I wasn't going to get on PC where it clearly isn't meant for at this point with how IW treats the platform and the fanbase primarily existing on consoles.
But its a matter of preference really, as well as what developers do with the platform.
1. More games (not counting low scoring or casual, incase you scream "facebook gamez"). Still more games when counting those.
2. Much better gfx, Higher FPS (hard to go back to 20-30 of consoles), and usually much faster loading times.
3. Superior controls, and more choice of controls. Lol at fumblesticks for Shooters.
4. Superior Online (features/freedom/mods/competative games through a much higher required skill cap)
6. More genres
7. Best version of nearly every multiplat
8. Free to play games, indy games, flash games that dwarf xbl/psn in quality and quantity combined.
1. Games cost less
2. Better controls
3. More control options
4. Graphics
5. Mods
6. Freedom
7. Digital Download
8. Sales, sales everywhere.
I was just wondering why you all choose to play games on PC out of the M/KB and potential graphical upgrade? ShoTTyMcNaDeSlots of reasons.
steam sales, mods, the choice of using m/kb or plugging in a controller, the tech advantage, the ability to customize almost anything you want to in the game. the availability of genres that don't play well on consoles like rts and mmo games.
i still love consoles though.

Pretty much this.
And in that vastly larger library are a lot of games and genres that simply could not work on consoles.
I could give alot of reasons but I will use just one, since I am sure that it will explain most of the reasons why I game on PC the most, and most of my reasons tie into this one.
-Freedom
It is that simple, On a PC I am free to do whatever I want with my games.
I can play it with whatever controllertype I wish, without a specific console dictating HOW I should play my games
I am free to alter and play with my games, and not just play the games as id demanded like console games are. So I can mod, drop a dev console and alter the game, and just pull things out, or place in my games.
I have the freedom to chose amongst alot of graphics options, add to or remove from, both can be handy and useful to me.
I have the freedom to decide HOW I interact with people playing games, through what services and such.
It is kind of hard to explain but playing on a console can feel so restrictred that I can almost feel claustophobic about it.
However that closed nature of console has its advantages, IF you don't care about the above, a console would be a really great alternative, accompanied with less headaches.

bohemia interactive with arma
ergosoft with x series
creative assembly with total war
paradox with mount and blade and their strategy games
many more studios i forgot the name of, but there is the good free to play games (quake live, tribes, soon planet side 2)
simulations (those are rare or inexistant on consoles)
the wide variety of peripherals that you can plug in on your pc (joysticks, motion controllers, console gamepads)
mods
cheaper price for games
Games cost less, and the game library is by far the most deep and varied, considering you can easily play games of past generations. There's also more free content (also user-created), both because implementing mod support in PC games is easier and because there isn't a console manufacturer dictating what can and cannot be distributed on their platform free of charge.
[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]Hell yeah, I agree with that!No one on PC plays for just KB/M and better graphics. That's just stupid
mitu123
I don't think a single PC gamer bought their PC for a different control option and better graphics. There is so much more to it. But that's all console gamers think we care about
10x the amount of games
Free content
Free mods
Better online and features
Humungous discounts + free games
