I was seriously expecting much more, like at least AA, the demo seemed fun enough to me anyway.

I think general hype for it was AA. So, yeah, B is a flop.
Poor EA. Not a good time for the company to be putting out bad games.
I don't know. I saw a couple of good ads on TV this weekend for it. It looks like a pretty cool game. I'll rent it and then make my decision. I'd be really surprised if it doesn't out sell the game PS3 fanboys claim it is copying (GOW3).
Not sure how it is copying it, two completely different settings, but whatever. Yeah it's similar gameplay wise, but so are other games. Hack and Slash is Hack and Slash. As a matter of fact the original GOW looks like it copied Castlevania, or Devil May Cry, but nobody cries about that.
Yes, but no one cares because it's not exclusive. SaltyMeatballsJust like Prototype 360 fans try to use a multiplat to put down a PS3 exclusive. So I def. care especially when DI was such a blatant rip off. So glad to see it crash n burn.

well it's all in the review. Why did it score low. Aside from being a clone was the strory bad or gameplay repeditive ?

Other than the control layout and the fact that its a Hack N Slash... exactly how is DI a rip off of GOW?
So any FPS that uses the same control scheme as Halo is automatically a Halo ripoff and therefore sucks?
Does the game use similar enemies/characters... the same levels? Anything the same except for button layout & genre?
If you think DI is a rip off of GOW... I wonder what you think of 3D Dot Heroes? They shamelessly ripped off Zelda, but for some reason the cows don't seem to care about that... hmmm.... funny how that works.

I really don't like it at all. They shoulda been working on a Dead Space sequel instead. A game that at least had it's own identity while borrowing elements from other games.
1. Camera angles. 2. Font style for combo announcements 3. Camera movement 4. His weapons even attack in a very similar manner 5. Everything else about the game. There is a major diff between homage and direct "copy and paste" game design. Anyone whose played GOW can see it.
Okami is an homage to LOZ. See the difference? 3D Dot heroes is an homage to the original LOZ, and the game design alone still makes it strikingly diff from the original game.

Gamespot reviewer mentioned this as well. Guess he's a fanboy as well? Seems to me the only people defending Dante's Crap are people who can't play the superior GOW. Why drink RC Cola when you can have a real Coka Cola? Yeah. What am I a fanboy of exactly? Multiplats? No wait...you're right. I am a fanboy of games that bring something new to tried and true formulas. Like Bioshock did for the FPS or No More Heroes to the action adventure game. Or the unique weapons in Deep Space or the FPV in Mirror's Edge or hell even the stealth in Assassins Creed.
But what do I know? I'm just a silly fanboy of unique concepts and originality. Silly me.

Nice try? Go ahead and waste ur money on GOWannabe. I really don't care buddy. Yes GOW is unique. The epic scale of the game inspired many other games soon afterwards. Even the use of quick time events felt refreshing. Plus Kratos as a character and his storyline. Many of the games levels were just unbelievable and like nothing else I had seen at the same. Might not seem so exciting in GOW3 but when the first game came out it was amazing stuff. Hence why critics were so impressed and why the game became so iconic. Average crap doesn't stand out from the pack. After GOW every game had quick time events and gigantic boss battles. The stuff Kratos does in those games always makes me wide eyed and shocked.
Of course, some were hyping it to kill God of War which would mean it would've had to score at least AAA. But I think the general hype surrounding it was AA, and didn't get anywhere near that either.
Im with Moistsandwhich, i really don't see why people keep moaning about it being a copy pasta 100 percent. All i see is they copied the combat scheme, am i alone on this one? Jeez, people talk like they took kratos and the other characters and enemies to hell.XxSTILL_BORNxXPlay a GOW game, then play DI and you'll see that DI rips off GOW in just about every way possible.

I own the GOW collection and im anticipating GOW III alot, but wont stop DI from being a fun game. The setting alone seems awesome! and the adventure as a whole looks great. I can't really give you an honest opinion on this one but when i buy it and finish it. I'll do. :)
I love first person shooters even though at the core they are all 'clones' of Doom and/or Wolfenstein. So, the fact that this is a clone of GOW gameplay-wise does not bother me. As I happen to dig the GOW gameplay system. Aside from that, the setting and subject matter of DI appeals to me. Looking forward to picking up my copy tomorrow. It is going to be a fun 'flop' for me.:)

see i agree the same way. every game copies off others. why not use mechanics from a great game to make a good game? I don't agree with this ascertion that every game copies off others. Similar elements are used, reworked, and new gameplay types are always added once the innovation hits the genre. (Cover system for TPS etc.) still the concepts themselves, the design of the levels, and every dev finds something new to add to the mix. Bayonetta is a good example of taking a very familiar genre and making it feel new and refreshing. DI is the exact opposite. Whenever a game just copies popular convetions critics are quick to mention it. Turok for example. It's not enough to just copy a good game. Maybe for some but I just don't have money to waste on conventional by the numbers games.I love first person shooters even though at the core they are all 'clones' of Doom and/or Wolfenstein. This is quite sig worthy, and god of war actually didn't do much for the AA genre as few games actually copied off of it (yes even in scale), D.I is the only noticeable one.

Didn't do much for the genre? How many other games adopted similar elements? TONS. Quick time events? Giant bosses? Kratos-esque anti heroes? Come on you'd have to be blind not to notice. DI is the first exact copy. Other games just adopted certain elements of GOW into them. GOW and Ninja Gaiden changed AA games on consoles. Few have been able to match them. Remember Ninja Blade? You're telling me Xbox owners didn't scoff at that game and say "I'd rather replay NGII."[QUOTE="Gxgear"][QUOTE="Bread_or_Decide"] Why drink RC Cola when you can have a real Coca Cola?
