Been a while since I've been in SW. Is Crysis still graphics king, what with all of these new good looking games coming out recently has anything changed?
Obligatory comparison pictures.

I think Crysis kinda overdoes the bloom but other than that, yeah it still is. I'm not sure what has changed though...

I believe it's modded Crysis vs Metro 2033 followed by Crysis: Warhead.
Yes, until Crysis 2 on PC comes out...
mitu123
I don't think that will be the case but we'll see.
There are some impressive things that CryEngine 3.0 can do that 2 did not, but Crysis 2 looks nowhere near the scale that Crysis 1 had. But the keyword here is "looks." I would love to be wrong about this, BTW.

I'm thinking RAGE will be up there in the visuals department. The best graphics I have seen are on Uncharted 2.Aspen706play some games on PC uc2 isnt all too impressive.

I'm thinking RAGE will be up there in the visuals department.Rage is an amazing, amazing technical achievement. It's the polar opposite of what Crysis went for. The goal of Crysis (Cryengine 2) was to push current and even future hardware to levels never seen before. They did very little in terms of optimization though. Rage (idTech 5), on the other hand, went for the optimization... and if what I hear and see is true, it looks as if Rage has done what couldn't be done on consoles.

It doesn't matter what it can do on consoles, as the PC version will look a lot better anyway.[QUOTE="organic_machine"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"] I'm thinking RAGE will be up there in the visuals department.DragonfireXZ95

Eh... Arma 2 has physics? Arma 2 has an amazing real life artstyle, I'll give it that, but Crysis still beats it. Crysis would probably look way better if they did go for the real life artstyle, but most people tend to prefer hyper realistic lighting, colors, and environments.Arma 2 looks way better in motion to me, anyone saw the open map war? AMAZING sounds and physics/graphics.

Yes.
2007: Crysis>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Next best looking game
2010: Crysis>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Next best looking game
but we're getting there. Maybe in another 4 years.
On another note, the shack comparison doesnt impress me that much now. Back in 2006 it blew me away HARD. I couldnt believe it and thought graphics like that were impossible. Now i can easily see differences and its not as impressive. how quick graphics and time move.
nonononono!!! far from it Crysis>Metro2033>>Arma II>>>Just Cause 2>>>>Shattered Horizon>>>>>Stalker Call of Pripyat>>>>>>Far Cry 2>>>>>>>>>>>etcYes.

Oonga
I would say Tech Wise Metro 2033 wins in some areas and Crysis wins in others.
They are right next to each other and at the top.
Hakkai007
Yeah I would agree with this, Crysis is still more impressive because of the scale though.
Crysis/Crysis Warhead and Metro are the two best looking games (MEtro on high end pc not 360).
Metro isnt open ended though, while Crysis is. So yes I still consider Crysis to be the graphics king, with Metro right behind (if not tied).
kozzy1234
I think Metro 2033 could have had a large open world if the devs wanted it too.
That wasn't why the game was so demanding, it was certain light and particle effect that stress a PC.
Since the games plot took place in under ground caverns it couldn't be open world.
There were only a few parts where you can go above ground and those were kind of large even if sections were blocked off.
The lighting was simply amazing when bouncing off objects.
I especially love the last 80% of game play.
Climbing the tower at the very end was done very well.

They could have made the game open world, if you have read the metro 2033 book that the game was based off of then you would know that the metro system is much larger and more varied than the game ever touches upon.Yes.

The console could barely handle the lower settings.
Na impossible i read from an editor that the 360 version of crysis 2 looked better than the Crysis on PC,so i say no.EltormoHe was confused, and even if that was true, PC version would look better so PC wins either way.

He wasn't confuse it was one of Crysis own developer who say that and he was probably drunk,or he was really taking one for the 360 either that or money hat, something that i am sure is that no 360 game ever would be even close to Crysis on PC.

He wasn't confused he was an idiot. I remember that guy, said he'd eat his gpu if he was lying or something. All the gameplay videos of the game so far look horrible, well by console standards theyre decent but nothing to Crysis on pc.
So, yeah that guy was a moron. lol
