So is it safe to assume most AAA games will be 5-15 hours long?

It certainly looks like it will become de facto trend for high production value games to be 5-15 hours long. Gamers and critics are demading too much: godly graphics, variety of gameplays, replayability, etc, etc. Unless the game belongs to a genre well suited for multiplayer (e.g. shooters), it will be almost impossible to meet the expectations. Uncharted is less than 10 hours, Mass Effect can be finished in 12 hours (so I read on the forums), AC is around there too...

Are you guys OK with that?

Personally, I welcome the change. I can only playone hour a day, so a game lasts about 2-3 weeks for me.

The cost of better graphics is less game play... Developers have to make money...

Mario Galaxy says hi.

Mind you, you can beat the 'story' in about 9-12 hours (60 stars) but collecting all 120 stars then playing through it again (due to probably the best post-game bonus) would take you well into the 30-40 hour range.

Edit: I just realized you said 'high production value' games. Though I would argue SMG is a pretty high production game, it just goes to show that sometimes less (graphics) is more.

I think us Sheep are really enjoying this.  With HS being extremely short, ME being a little under-packed for an RPG (12 hours?)

It seems like the Wii's games are the onlty ones that aren't suffering from less content in the name of graphics...

If graphics mean less gameplay, then to hell with graphics!!!!

AAA Shooters and Platformers and probably other games but I can't think of any. RPG has to be like 30-200 hours of gameplay lol.

Ninja Gaiden II is supposedly going to be 30 hours long. I would believe that since the first one was about 25.
