The answer seems to be no but I've never gotten a clear answer.

They have always said there is no multiplayer focus, that's not what the game is about but that the only way you would know what your character looked like is if someone else saw you in the game, which would be astronomically unlikely. As it turns out it's a hair more likely than that and you can't actually see each other. That's the truth but the rabid hate campaign is highly ignorant and or trolling.
Yeah in the sense that you can be on the same planet at the same time at not see each other if that makes sense.
Is there any sort of possible interaction?
No, there's absolutely none, it was a lie.
Seems that way.
No

Two guys were on the same planet and at the same place and did not find each other. And lol you'd think with 18 quintillion planets at least one of them would have ice/water clear enough for you to see yourself in it.
No
So then the answer is no if there is no possible interaction? I mean it'd be like me saying there is multiplayer in TW3 because we both can be at the same place at the same time.
So there's actually no way for two players to interact with each other within the game world?

"Two guys were on the same planet and at the same place and did not find each other."
That's pretty much exactly what I said.

When asked "can you see other people?" he answered "yes"..thats the truth. He went on to state that the chances of you actually finding another person were astronomically low because the game world was just so massive..which was later proven to be bullshit.
stop trying to defend what happened here.

Yes, that is what happened and he lied. I didn't say otherwise. He also said many times that this was not a multiplayer game and it's multiplayer aspects would be minimal. In a minute people will be claiming he said the game had full on multiplayer so I'm making a vain attempt to head off those lies.
Let me settle this, environments are destructible in No Man's Sky, two players being on the same planet, in the same place, at the same time saw absolutely no effect of the other player manipulating anything in the environment.
It has absolutely no multiplayer component of any kind, simply a discovery database, that's it.

Then you would be full of shit, the ability to see other people and interact with them in the game is full on multiplayer, he lied, this is simple, stop shilling for this piece of shit developer and his piece of shit game.

who cares if they think it was gonna have full on muitplayer or partial muitplayer. He still lied about it having any

They said only major changes in the planet would be noticeable by other players such as killing all animal species on a planet or something major like that. I don't know if that has been tested or not but he definitely said minor changes would not be kept for other players to experience. They said that many of the changes you make would only exist for you alone.

He said it would have multiplayer in the sense Journey or bloodborne do. It doesn't. But lets not pretend he promised Call of duty level multiplayer. Keep it all in context please. Yes it doesn't have what he said. Don't have a stroke please.

So digging massive holes in the planet, mining huge pieces of the planet for resources is nothing major?
Your stupidity and shilling appears to have no limits.

Yes, he defined those things you mention specifically as not major and said other players would not experience the effects of said major events.

Do you need me to dig up the old interviews where he states as much? I have all the time in the world.
@Juub1990: Two guys were on the same planet and at the same place and did not find each other. And lol you'd think with 18 quintillion planets at least one of them would have ice/water clear enough for you to see yourself in it.
Excellent point. 18 quintillion planets and my own ship and I don't have one reflective surface?
@dynamitecop: If I may be so bold, why does someone liking this game or defending it in anyway no matter how minor make a Microsoft employee such as yourself so besides yourself with anger that you result to personal insults?
You're just highly annoying because you try to skirt, scapegoat and rationalize every lie these shitty developers have put out there.
We're sick of reading your horse shit.
No, and they'll likely do NOTHING to add the missing features they promised.
Sean Murray and the Hello Games studio has been in hiding ever since.

I straight up said he lied about multiplayer even though he said it was a minor part of the game. What else do you require? And who are "we" in your "We're sick of reading your horse shit."? Do you have a mouse in your pocket?

That you stop downplaying every negative aspect of this game and all the lies associated with this negativity...
Someone says something factually negative and predicated on a lie told by them and you have to interject with "Well you know, they didn't do this because of this reason, and they never said it would be this or that" and blah, fucking blah, blah...
Multiplayer in NMS is possibly one of the most unlikely lies he came up with, they only ever had a data server for discoveries. I guess alarm bells should have sounded then but so many people wanted to believe the hype and hung on every word Murray (and his Sony marketing team) came out with.
Is it even true that your discoveries are logged and other players see them as already discovered? I wouldn't be surprised if that had turned out to be a fallacy as well tbh.

I followed this game quite a bit years before it came out. I remember all the interviews well. I will point out inconsistencies among the haters arguments and nothing more. I don't care if people like the game or not, I just don't want to let obvious biased comments go without the actual info being made available. He lied about some things but not everything you want to charge him with. People like you just want all the possible negativity they can get heaped onto it and I think it's a bit disgusting.

This seems very personal to you.
SERIOUS BUSNESS1!
It is serious business.. It's in this case false marketing, anyone defending this or pretending that they don't care deserve these kind of games.
@Juub1990: I recommend watch Angry Joe No Man's Sky review cause he show that Sean Murray in fact talk about adding MP in No Man's Sky and he lied about it being in the game.
Back then, I didn't even think there was going to be one myself but Sean kept on talking BS that there was going to be MP from the start.
Final Verdict: The answer to you're question is simply, MP does not exist and no one knows if Hello Games will patch it.
@dynamitecop: "It is in context, it has no multiplayer of any kind, none, zero, he flat out lied, shut the **** up."
where's those white knights when you need them, like Davillain.
Dude, learn how to converse with ppl. You wonder why I keep asking why ppl give you the time of day.
See what lies can do even months later? It can spread misinformation, create folklores and beliefs including madness. Don't lie mkay?

Your pointless hostility and you acting like a prick is the only thing that's annoying here.
The game doesn't have multiplayer, that was definitely a lie. However, you're making this out be a much bigger deal then it actually is. If anyone bought No Man's Sky for the multiplayer, they were setting themselves up for disappointment. It definitely wasn't a touted feature for the game. The experience was always intended to be a solo experience.
Is it even true that your discoveries are logged and other players see them as already discovered? I wouldn't be surprised if that had turned out to be a fallacy as well tbh.
Yes, it is true. I've come across another player's system - although I have not visited it yet. But likely will in the coming weeks. I'll let you know if I see any sign of that person other than the names they chose (it's like "Bob's awesome star system" or something goofy like that)
Wow. Someone in here seems to take this "system war" way too seriously. Chill out guy , no need to insult everyone.
Wow. Someone in here seems to take this "system war" way too seriously. Chill out guy , no need to insult everyone.
I take video games seriously, I take conversations and arguments seriously, I take people seriously. Do you think that just because we're on an internet message board that it somehow shirks natural human responses and behavior?
What happens when people have a continual argument for months, especially when one of those individuals is flat out wrong? There's hostility, there's insults, people are going to be abrasive and blunt. Why must everyone act fake, politically correct and so offended on the internet? Why do I have to be nice to someone saying perpetually stupid things? Why do I have to treat the internet at face value?
@dynamitecop: I personally respect you for the most parts but you need to give it a rest. I too happen to enjoy playing NMS for what it's worth. NMS is not actually all that worthless as a game, it's just the marketing/lying thing is a problem. It has more merit than many other games I've seen or played but it's one of the most misleadingly marketed games I'll say to that.
I want everyone defending this game to take a good God Damn look at this video and stop defending this game of lies.
@dynamitecop: please don't quote me again. Weirdo.
And now how are you any better? Using personal insults just as he did. Congratulations on stooping to his level.
It's not a level, there's nothing wrong being done here, he just said something real.

I like real, I agree there's nothing wrong with speaking your mind, I just also hate people that call someone out by doing that exact same thing, I see it everywhere, no one looks outside their tiny bubble.
On topic: No mans sky developers Hello Games is a piece of shit rip off crew that deserves all the hate they get, I hope the team disband and they never work in the games industry again. There is no multiplayer, there's a massive list of lies and deceit for the purpose of getting rich. They took all gamers for a ride.
