So is Wii U bringing us next gen 1.5?

Well i have heard a couple games that are now being made that are cross plate forms and will look best on WiiU. However, whenever PS4 and Xbox 720 comes out i'm sure the WiiU will take back the place the Wii has had with current PSand MS consoles with inferior graphics and capabilities. With that said, is it really worth it to invest into the WiiU? Will there be some epic exclusives that demand to be played on this console in say 2 yrs? There is one game serise i'm interested in, its Monster Hunters, although i'd need more than that to purchase a new console. However, i really want to know if their new innovative controller can implement some hardcore gaming features in the future and overcome my impression of it being another gimmick, although it be a very fancy one yet can't really foresee any practical use from; since i play on a 50 inch screen with no desire to trade it for a glorified DS.

Thus, i'm not claiming real knowledge of it's destiny one way or another, since i don't believe i have enough information at this point to give a definitive answer to my own questions, which is why i'm posting this here to begin with, where the harshest critics dwell among a loyal and die hard fanbase :) I am merely giving my impressions i have collected from marketing articles and so forth. Look forward to the responses.

The Nintendo IP's are the reason to own one I guess and for me, it's mainly down to one these dayzz and that's Zelda so, if a awesome Zelda launches, I'll get interested in Wii U. :P

In 16 days when someone buys the Wii U and does a teardown to look at the insides CPU power etc. Offering up a comparion of Wii U is equalivant to..

So far Wii U is believed to be 1.7 the power of Xbox 360/PS3 - 2 times the "processing power" Which is hard to really sort out until release. The Wii U has from November 2012 until 2014 as the most advanced console. Then Xbox 720 arrives in November 2013. Which is to be 6 times the power of Xbox 360.

So yes the Wii U is supposed to be vastly outmatched by Xbox 360 and Playstation 4. But Nintendo will survive. So yes the Wii U will kick off the 8th Generation in 16 days. 1 year free reign Nintendo has before Xbox 720 and PS4 arrive. But Until someone diesects a Wii U and determines how much "power" the internals are. And proclaims something along the lines of "The Wii U is only 3/4 the power of and iPad 1" or a similar statemant.

But Nintendo will still be with us after Xbox 720/PS4 launches.

WiiU will just be Next Gen.

PC will be 3 gens ahead with nothing but tech demos to prove it.

People primarily buy Nintendo games for the 1st party

-Nintendo produced some of the best games of this gen on severely outdated tech.

-The WiiU is a big leap of power from the Wii and keeps all the control tyes of the old console while adding a new one. I think Nintendo will be able to produce games that directly compete with the competition again.

-WiiU is next gen Nintendo, the best 1st party developers in the industry.

For all we know tablet like controllers could be the future of console gaming. Therefor WiiU would be next gen. Next gen is not determined by a graphics card, cpu and ram.

then you'll have to wait a year for the 720/PS4 to work there bugs out and another year for a price drop

then there's the slow development start for new consoles, all the games will look as good as ps3/360 games for a while

by the time the 720/PS4 gets running good the Wii U will be at the end of it's life cycle and Nintendo will be ready to drop another console on them

wait until it comes out. next gen is here. you can't compare the wii U to the nextbox/PS4 and say the Wii U isn't stacking up because all they have right now is rumors. Nintendo actually has a console coming to the market.

well it obviously needs some power in order to get the multiplats, look what happend to the wii. I bought a PS3 to play Black ops beacuse the wii version was lame.

my point about 1080p 60fps is that, that's about as good as games will be for a while until everyone adapts to 4k tvs, so the wii U will get the multiplats

Is it capable of doing that with 2nd screen running as well? I would imagine the framerate would drop epescially if it was game that utilized two gamepads.
