Its milking it for Nintendo to remake Ocarina and bring out sequels to Mario and Mario Kart. Its milking when MS come out with a Halo remake and sequels to Halo, Fable and Forza. But its ok when Sony comes out with remakes of Sly, God of war and Ico only to make sequels and more sequels of Uncharted and Killzone?

I bet your jealous because Halo and Mario are more popular than any of those games ever could be. You keep pulling this "new IPs" card but neither Little Big Planet or Uncharted have the same momentum any of those games do. Then when Nintendo come out with a new IP you still play it anyway. And I bet you'll do the same when MS does it as well.

Combined you can count all of MS(Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable) and Nintendo's(Mario, Mario Kart, SSB, Zelda) great IP's on 2 hands(unless you go back a couple generations for Nintendo). While Sony(Uncharted, Resistance, Infamous, Little Big Planet, Demons Souls) really puts a focus on bringing out new games and creating new IPs. BTW, ALL games I listed for Sony started this gen while all games fort both other platforms started last gen or beyond except Gears. I could create a HUGE list if I were including those games for Sony.

Sure the developers are rehashing a few games... mostly third party dev might I add, which means Sony isn't really the ones pulling the strings. While both MS and Nintendo are the only people to blame for the rehashes we see from them.

Thats not how I see it. From what I can see Sony's stragety is to make a new IP and then add it to the sequel pile.

It is only wrong to make Sequels it they are not good.

Sony does a good job on Sequels

Nintendo does a good job on Sequels

MS does a good job on Sequels

And guess what? You all want them thats why they sell so well.

And this is a problem becuase?

Demons souls was not created by Sony they helped so as to keep it exclusive from software created Demons souls so nope that new ip cannot be attributed to sony.
Media molecule was an independent developer when infamous was in creationbefore being acquired by SCE so that new ip cannot be atributed to them either.
Infamous is by Sucker punch a privately held game company so that game cannot be atributed to sony either.
Resistance is made by Insomniac a privately held company that game cannot be atributed to sony either.

the only game on your list that can be atributed to Sony is Uncharted since naughty dog was owned by them at the time of the first games creation.
Just face it Sony is as guilty of rehashing and creating sequels as anyone else.
Considering quite a few of the games shown at e3 this year for the ps3 are sequels.

It follows the same line as one cannot atribute Square enix to a load of Eidos games in development and released since the majority were started outside of the merger and some even finished before the merger of the 2 companies.

Also you failed to address the FACT that most of Sonys so called milking is rehashes of third party titles while most, if not all of MS and nintendos rehashes are first party titles.

Third party means it's the developers trying to cash in. First party means it's MS and Nintendo trying to cash in. Not saying that Sony is completely guilt free in this area and MS isn't even that bad but Nintendo rehashes are getting out of control.

They're still new and exclusive IP's which Sony strives for. First or third party shouldn't matter as long as we get unique games.

Edit to respond to your edit:You're seriously going to bring up Sonys E3? Cause MS's was any better? A 6th Halo game and yet another failble. And you want to complain about Sony being on it's third sequel to most of it's IP's.

Gimme a break.

So?? They are still exclusive new IP's which shows Sony cares about creating new series instead of cashing in on old ones and not taking any risks.

Yeah, I thought of Gears right after I hit the post button but didn't feel like editing again. Everyne has their own definition to what a great game would be. There's still more games I could list for Sony yet too. While the 8 games I listed for Ninty and MS are argueably the only games even mentioned when it comes to their respective consoles.

Uncharted = sold well, had a sequel. Resistance = sold well, had a sequel. Little big planet = sold well, had a sequel. Demons souls = sold well, had a sequel. I'm not sure about Infamous. But its mostly proof that Sony are only creating sequels to their successful games.

Good point Tc and I agree. It is one of the reasons you can not take SW serious because SW has more to do with the dominating fanbase then anything of logic.

Gears started this gen bro. But I get what you're saying. I'd argue that only Uncharted & Demon's Souls will go down as classics though. With that said, as far as the rehash argument goes, Halo: CE remake has been asked by plenty, they're just giving the fans what they want. Mario games consistently deliver (personally I'm not really a fan though) & Zelda OoT is just a legendary game.

I think Uncharted will be forgotten. Demons Souls I didn't personally care for but I see what makes it a classic. I know people have been crying for a Halo remake and I agree with MS for bringing it out. There's a market there and a way to make some easy $.

Zelda OOT is absolutally legendary. The one reason I'm really considering a 3ds. Also Mario 64 3d. I will likely just borrow them from my buddy though. I'm not real big on handhelds.

I can agree with you here. If there's one thing Sony needs in its lineup it's a little more diversity. I would love a couple of those old IP to make a return but I guess Sony doesn't see a market for them. This new generation of gamers is all about the shooter games. Now all we get is dev trying to mimic COD success. Very bland generation this one has been imo.

There's only 3 Killzone's, 20+ Marios.

3 Uncharteds , 15+ Zeldas.

3 God of Wars, 15+ Pokemon.

It's not the fact that Sony or Microsoft doesnt milk, it's the fact that Nintendo does it way more.

And it's yet another PS3 exclusive IP that started this gen. I'm not saying Sony is innocent here. I'm just making a claim that Sony has put out FAR more new IP's this console generation then MS or Nintendo have.

Doesn't stop them from being a great title, just like AW:P I was hoping I would have thrown you for a loop there and you would have dropped it. lol.

F1ame_Shie1d

Didn't work.

Obviously... I just want to make it clear that Sony is still a guilty party here but Nintendo and MS are obviously the worst offenders when it comes to sequals and rehashes this gen..

Most of it isn't milking, its making money, you know, that sole purpose in all 3 of these companies?

The difference between Nintendo, MS and Sony is that only one of them takes risks in trying to pump out something new

SMG was a departure from the rest of the Mario games. Mario has actually evolved quite well over the years. This gen Nintendos whole console was based around trying something new. How you can accuse them of anything otherwise is beyond me.

I still stand by my point that Sony has made the most good new IP's this gen but to say that Ninty hasn't done anything is just flat out wrong.

And I bet you'll do the same when MS does it as well.

quickposter

Except sony has a good % of IP's that are new. Nintendo has 0 and Microsoft has some... on kinect.

Starhawk, Infamous, Uncharted, Little Big Planet are all very recent IP's. Ico also has no sequels. Every game from Team Ico is a new IP.

Thank god for the new Microsoft ips! Dance Central and Kinect Sports represent!

F1ame_Shie1d

When I read the TC's post, I thought that surely there's no one in the Sony camp who actually thinks this way. Sadly, it appears I was wrong.

There's only 3 Killzone's, 20+ Marios.

3 Uncharteds , 15+ Zeldas.

3 God of Wars, 15+ Pokemon.

It's not the fact that Sony or Microsoft doesnt milk, it's the fact that Nintendo does it way more.

You forgot the handheld versions for the Sony games.

You're bringing Spin off's, PSP and PSN games into this now too? Halo has 7 games in that case. Mario is probably well over 100. Seriously, that was a path best left not travelled.

Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo, 4 Halo reach, Halo ODST, Halo Wars. And I'm sure there's some Halo I'm missing still.

And Mario... That would just be exhausting to list All game Mario has ever featured in...

Much less time? Halo started in 2001. Ratchet and Clank started in 2002.
