looks like Nintendo is reverting back to the standard dual analog controller with the dreamcast gimmick tacked on. Maybe it will have gryoscope like PS3's controller but no where near close to the wiimote/nunchuck setup. Well wiimote/nunchuck lovers? How does it feel knowing that Nintendo is going to abandon them in their next system? Sure some cafe games might use them but they won't be standard in the new system therefore will hardly be supported by developers, lest required.

I don't think anyone "loved" the wiimote/nunchuk set, I just adapted to it and use other controllers when I could.

If nintendo does go with multiple controller methods the only things they would have to do to make it standard is to include each type of controller with the system. I personally do not see them abandoning the pointer cursor. Motion sensing i could do without but that pointer should be the new standard for consoles.

I actually loved it when implemented well, the problem is those situations were few and far in-between. Metroid Prime 3 made me think that the Wiimote set up would be the future for some genres. Easily my favorite control scheme in any game this gen. Unfortunately it was one of the few shining examples of how great the Wiimote could be. There were a few other titles that put it to great use, but for the most part developers just kind of half assed their efforts.

Nintendo needs a new, non-gimmick control scheme that works with all genres?

Classic Controller Pro. PROBLEM SOLVED.

Cool story. I'm just worried about what games will appear on the Wii2.

considering the Console is said to be Backwards compatible.

I don't think they got rid of the Wiimote and Nunchuck just yet....(Also since some developers are saying the MOTION CONTROLS are better than Kinect's or Move's kinda makes you think Nintendo isn't going away from the Motion Scene)

Multiple controllers is better than being forced with one; and that was with the crappy Wiimote.

The new console should be backwards compatible with the Wii so the controller can still be an option. Also a hypothesis I have is that the new contoller can shift between dual analog and motion control mode, but take that with a grain of salt.

I think that having a console that's versatile when it comes to various controls is a lot better. The Wii remote isn't going away, contrary to some gamers who are too conservative to look outside of the box.

well nothing is confirmed of course. but i would be disappointed to see the wiimote and nunchuck setup gone. its a shame a lot of devs just couldnt get their heads around it (and also a worrying sign at modern devs complete lack of ability to adapt to new controls schemes). if its replaced with something else thats really kewl and could add to games though then ill live. i hope the motion isnt limited to the six axis setup though...that would just be a step backwards. i also really hope it has a pointer system thats as nice to use as the wiis (i.e i dont want to be using two hands to point the controller at the TV). we shall see. maybe ninty are going to try and serve both camps by having a controller that can be split.

I love the Wiimote/Nunchuck, I swear a control setup with wireless nunchuck and enhanced motion plus in each hand would be fantastic.

You don't know that. How do you know that the new console isn't going to be compatible with the Wii motion plus? Or if they are making a more precise motion controller that will be optional, or even standard. They made so much money from motion gaming... They aren't going to abandon it.

If that happens, I'll become a PC only gamer again or look in to the PS3 and Move.

I did. It's why I bought the console in the first place. It's actually the only reason I came out of my hermit cave.

The Wii remote is soo under-appreciated. Pointing at the screen was an absolute revolution and it's sad it wasn't taken full advantage of. Metroid Prime 3 was stellar with it, but that was one of the few games that truly utilized it to the fullest. Imagine real time strategies and third person shooters designed specifically for it. It could be absolutley amazing. Not to mention RE4 and on-rails shooters we're absolutley perfect for it. (Sin & Punishment is one of my favorite games of all time thanks to the IR) Nintendo, please don't abandon the IR. Also, Third Party Developers, please come up with some great ideas for it!! Man...I wish I was in those developer's meetings -____-

I completely agree. The real strength of the wiimote nunchuck setup is that it really defines the wii as a CONSOLE. The wii is not just a dumbed down but standardized pc like the other consoles. It is a system meant to be played in front of a television, not sitting at a desk

If it's something we are sure of it's backwards compatibility. I personally see this new system as being 2 systems in one. One for the 'casual' market (backwards compatibility) Using the Wiimote, and another for the 'hardcore' market using the supposed new controller. Nintendo will probably release new games for the kids like 'cooking mama' or 'Excite trucks' etc. Also social games, like 'Mario party,' 'Wario ware,' and 'Dance dance revolution,' using hyped up motion controls. Also games for the Hardcore market, such as RPGs like Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc. Frag heads won't be left in the dust, i'm expecting Conduit, Golden eye and CoD, only to name a few. Also, Maybe an online play of Metroid, much like Halo, I would love to see that. In terms of the new controller i'm seeing the device to incorporate a dual-axis tuning fork gyroscope, and a single-axis gyroscope which can determine rotational motion. Much like the Wii motion plus, but in controller form. Also, this touch screen, i'm imagining it to display ammo, health bars and vavious guages, maps (acting like a GPS in some games, since it will most likley have speakers on it), items, weapons, etc. Not 6.2" and HD though. Also, anyone saying that it will be just a remake of a wii, but HD, really has to think about Nintendo. They don't ever release the same thing twice, and calling it a different console. Each system came out with something new and exciting to sell. Not gimmick, but innovation. One thing i'm excited about it is in reference to the codename, "Project cafe." At first i thought this was just another codename given by someone to hype things up. But last night when i found out this "Project Cafe" was real and it was the actual codename given by Nintendo itself, got me thinking. A cafe is a social place, so this has obviously got to do with online interface. I'm seeing the new Nintendo online area being called "nintendo Cafe." But take it with a pich of salt.

How many people have a Wii? That's how many Wii remotes are in existence plus some. If Nintendo issues a standard dual analogs, than allow carry over of Wii remote, will all be fine.

Who says they are abandoning it? PS3 has both standard controller and move. Nintendo could well take a similar route, marking the motion controller as an optional controller, just not the standard one.

Dont care at all... While it worked for some games it came at the cost of making 90% of the other games and genres feel and play weird... A standard controller with a touch screen will be 1000000 times better.. especially for Mario, Smash Bros. Zelda, basically everything except first person metroid games.
