Personally, I think it's because Motorstorm has been retrofitted with rumble and the new controllers that come with the 80 gb feature rumble.

this isn't surprising. it's coming from a company that said the prices of lcd hdtv's are too low. this is the same company that says that ms is copying them despite the fact that they got the idea of a several sku launch from ms, and an online service that features online gaming and a store from ms. this is also the same company that said that american's are too cheap. if the ps3 fails, it wont only be because of the price, it will be because of the arrogance and sheer stupidity of the heads of sony.

actually the "main ps3" became the new core and the 80gb became the new premium. that would be the same as if ms dropped the core (20gb ps3 is the equivalent), made the premium the new core (the 60gb ps3) and made the elite the new premium (80gb ps3). it's not a price drop, it's a restructuring of the SKU offering.

Sony is trying to trick people into thinking its a price drop. Cuz it is, actually. But really its just 20gb more space for the same price.dark_templar_99

what i find funny is the fact that they're throwing in an extra 20gb of hdd space and motorstorm for the same $600 price, but they're still not throwing in a free hdmi cable, not even a set of component cable. hell, ms throws in a set of composite cable, a set of HD component cables, an hdmi cable and an extra 60gb of space (40gb if comparing to the 80gb ps3) and it still costs less than the ps3. $120 less to be exact.

What a joke. This won't even force Microsoft's hand.They'll just go on doing what thier doing, and continue to supply amazing softwarewhich moves thier already cheaper hardware. Wow!

The PS3 needs to be $400 and $500 respectively, before they start to gain any ground. Even then Microsoft won't need to do a price drop. Until the $300 core dissapears they will never have to drop their price.

The 360's software is way to good for that to ever happen.

Yea if they're releasing a 80GB with rumble, then that definitely undermines the price drop. It doesn't really matter to me now, but if you we going to buy a PS3 why the hell not spend the extra $100 for the rumble, game, and 20GB.
