[QUOTE="AgentA-Mi6"]Allow me to correct myself, "Betraying gamers outside of its hardcore fanbase who would support them no matter what to embrace casuals"

If that is how you feel. No doubt I was once a hardcore fanatic to Nintend... (sort of, I also did love the Genesis at the times but never had a Sega system... only Nintendo and Sony :P )Yet frankly what can you do? I realize it seems Nintendo's focus is more on the "casual" side, but it doesn't mean there aren't any hardcore games for us either... like I said just look and you'll see.
Mostly I own more exclusive games than I do multiplatforms. Funny how it works, and just the thing... I have like equal games on my 360 and Wii and the thing is I had the Wii in shorter time obviousl (What with the 360 being released a year ahead of the others.)
So in that respect I don't feel "betrayed" because my library is equal to a console I owned for two years but had in half it's life time. I got my PS3 late, pretty late I'd say... because there wasn't anything I felt I needed at the moment but frankly... every company has disappointed me in some way. Yeah, no one is perfect and they all can't make me happy, but I don't feel utterly "betrayed" like you say, because frankly... this is business, this is an industry where it looks to make money and that's the final verdict in the end.
These companies are not something I feel I have to pledge an allegiance too, and yet at the same time as a consumer yeah I have my expectations but face it... you can't win it all in the end. It doesn't mean though they aren't satisfying me... I may never be fully happy in some aspect with what a company is doing alone at least from the big three. (MS charging for online, Sony and it's real lack of definitive titles for owning the PS3 at the moment and Nintendo not expanding it's IPs and controlling what gets on the system.)
So don't give me sob stories how you feel betrayed or so, I don't see it. If another Nintendo fan does, so be it... everyone is different but obviously you can't say they are betraying either I'd say... if the stats are right... Wii wouldn't be as successful still without it's loyal base. We know for sure there are many Nintendo fans who bought Wii and obviously I'm one of them. I still own a Wii to this day, and I don't feel "betrayed." I just don't care for a company who has little effect on my life like that... :|
To sumarize
1 - Alright, Not everyone felt betrayed with the Wii. I'll man up to it.
2 - MANY did, Big Time and its Obvious
