[QUOTE="Chutebox"][QUOTE="rocktimusprime"][QUOTE="Chutebox"][QUOTE="rocktimusprime"]No I mean last year the PS3 was selling around 100k+ and the 360 was doing 200k + on a monthly basis. Because of the holidays the systems are selling very well, and in high volume. So when the market returns to normal, MGS4 will have to move nearly 500k consoles to reach the "halo," effect.
Not that it can't do that, but that's a pretty steep climb, and Halo certainely had the hype and marketing behind it. PS3 will probably sell very well because of MGS4, but since Halo 3's release, the 360 had been on fire, and was selling extremely well. I am not sure if the ps3 can emulate that, but only time will tell.

I will be very shocked and disappointed if Sony doesn't market the **** out of MGS4, it's a game that really deserves it. Was Halo 3 Worldwide release by the way, don't remember?
I think it was worldwide, it would have to be.
I just wonder whats going on with Sony, because nearly a year before Halo 3, there was ads during Monday Night Football. They had the hype machine going all winter and spring. They had the Crackdown beta, they had gamer soda.
Sony on the other had just has a commerical with 10 seconds of video that isn't gameplay, and a loud song playing saying "you'll be begging for more."
I imagine though that part of this has to do with the fact that MGS4 is being made by Konami. So therefore Konami may be the ones to take it upon themselves to advertise the game, since after all it's not a game made by SCE.
If that's true, Bad move, Sony should handle all the publicity on this game. One of the benefits Bungie had was they just made the game and let MS do all the dirty Ad work.
If I were Sony, I'd arrange the same deal. They may have, they may not have, but currently it seems like not.
Well, MGS4 I think is more important to Sony than it is to Konami, so I hope that Sony would help Konami advertise this game like no other.
My only reason to think Sony is not advertising the hell out of the game is that Kojima doesn't want much shown off. But then again, how much story will you ruin in a 30 second ad?
If MGS4 does not sell as well as everyone is predicting, it will be on Sony's hands, not Konami's, for failing to market, and generate enough media attention on the game.
They really cant ruin anything, if I'm not mistaken wasn't there like a 6 min trailer for that tokyo video game event?, 30 sec for a WW commercial is like nothing compared to that 6min trailer.
