So Rage's Coop isn't full story coop?

I was reading IGN's preview of Rage, and what I got from it was that Rage will have segments of the single player (kind of like Call of Duty Spec Ops). It will not have full story coop? Am I understanding that correctly?

If I have that right I would like to say this, and I may be in the minority on this one, but I don't care for that idea. I think that if you're going to have coop, you should do it all the way, or not at all. A lot of the time, these segments "taken from the main game" tend to feel tacked on to me. I'm not saying that they can't be done well, but I just think it's disappointing whenever a game does that. Anyone else have any thoughts on the matter?

I think I agree lol. usually I hate it when the co-op is a gimped SP, but sometimes it makes sense.

I'm not following RAGE so I don't know if it is like you claim but if true...

Indeed... it's really stupid.

I'm sure that some people don't mind it, and that's fine if that's the case. However, I'm glad I'm not alone in having that mindset. I recently played through Borderlands with my friend. I really enjoyed being able to spend that entire time playing with someone. I also played the Gears games and the Halo games with him as well. It's nice being able to sit down and play through, getting the full experience with a friend. I say that as opposed to playing 30 minutes here, or 15 minutes there.

Borderlands was awesome because of co-op. I never played it alone except for a couple minutes. RE5 on the other hand, while a good game, took away the sense of being alone and in a scary place.

if they do it right, Borderlands 2 could be one of my favorite games ever. The biggest issues with 1 to me, was the lack of replayability. Now don't get me wrong, I played the game A LOT (80 hours?), but once you hit that point, its just done IMO. They need to put more emphasis on the item system and character classes, as they do in Diablo II. If they could make the items more like that and make the classes better, it would be amazing.

They are quite similar tbh so comparing them is easy... but I get what you're trying to say and all I can say to that is: "this is SW" :P

Regarding Portal 2, I absolutely agree that this game is an exception. Portal 2 was designed as a single player experience. It had a separate section designed as a multiplayer experience. Due to the puzzle solving nature of the game, two players playing the main game (that was designed for one person) would just be kind of awkward. Someone else mentioned Resident Evil 5. I never meant to imply that every game out there needs to have coop. I believe very strongly that some games should be single player only. However, I think that if you're going to do coop, do it in the form of FULL STORY, like RE 5 did.
