The Wii is always gets bashed as being a "Mini game console"

This is the second biggest bashing the Wii gets, graphics being first.

Warioware is a prime example.

Warioware gets a AAA score (9.1 for all of you who have been living in a cave), and it immediately gets bashed as a "minigame collection" and "Apology for Zelda"

Mini Game Collection...since when was that bad?

If the game is a mini game collection, but is still fun...why is it bad?

I know that at least one game i've loved and it is WW.

It is a minigame collection.

And i still love it.

Of course, i'd rather have SSBB or Gears of War 2.

But it isn't a plague to have minigames.

Thanks for reading

Because "hardcore gamers don't play minigames."

I myself am a "hardcore" gamer and love Mario Party 8.

Because mini games usually consist of shallow, one button masher, and are for a younger audience. Even though I love the mario party series and fusion frenzy (2nd one sucked), every mini game consisted of this. Another reason they probably bash it is because those games are usually only made on the wii. I think it is the 2nd hypothesis because system wars isn't known for logic.

I, myself, was tired of the series after the second one - but there's always someone I know with the latest Mario Party shouting "c'mon, let's play a game, you have to play". How I loathe you Mario Party, with your recycled minigames, and coin flip victories...

Sonic Shuffle got buried in the same landfill they stuck E.T. in... so why not the Mario Party series? It's essentially *the same game* over, and over, and over... and no, I don't accept that with other series either, be they Halo 2 or the however-many-dozen GTA III clones out there (including its sequels).

Minigame collections feel like groundhog day to me, and a system with too many of them is a wasteland - it's like being on an island - "water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink".

There's no problem with it if the price reflects the content. I'd be happy to pay the $20 those kind of games are worth but asking a full $50 for low-budget small games is an insult.... but so is $250 for a Gamecube and $5/8/10 for tiny ROM downloads.

I actually never cared for any others in the series either (other than the "blisternator" aka Mario Party)... just something about playing it on Wii made it fun again... :?

Since forever, Minigames are good for 10-15 mins of fun and that's about it. farrell2k

After playing 50 turns of Mario Party 7 (which lasted 4 hours), I'd have to disagree.

Minigames are just that. Mini games that shouldn't be the highlight of any lineup.

Because, along with hardcore games, the simple and fun minigames are crushing the software sales of the other consoles...

that's when it's bad.... for fanboys.

So what happens when companies stop making games like Grand Theft Auto, Ninja Gaiden, and Oblivion in favor of doing math and balancing on a piece of plastic?

Of course, sheep don't care because they're not playing the games that involve all the fun shooting, hacking and slashing, and real advanced physics combined with deep and developed gameplay elements.

Not bad. When you have Bishi Bashi, it's great.

But then when you have 10 other games like Bishi Bashi, you start to puke.

It's not bad to have mini-games, as long as the whole game has enough content.

I don't think its necissarily a bad thing. Its only bad when developers are only focusing on minigames and not offering as many quality story driven games.

Because mini-game collections are some of the lowest common denominator when it comes to video game design.

There's nothing wrong with a few coming out here and there for budget prices.

But when the next BIG title that Nintendo is making is, infact, nothing more than a collection of minigames, we've got a problem

They automatically suck because they're shallow, they get boring after about an hour, the single player portion ofmost Mini games is short, they takevery little skill compared to other genres, there are way too many.

How can someone brag about getting mini games?

It's essentially *the same game* over, and over, and over... and no, I don't accept that with other series either, be they Halo 2 or the however-many-dozen GTA III clones out there (including its sequels).

Personally, I was fed up after the third one. (I loved the third one, though)

Seriously, I'm a bit disappointed that Mario Party 8 is one of the Wii's biggest sellers right now. Even though I personally have it, believe me when I say that I wouldn't own it otherwise if it hadn't come bundled with my Wii. Although, I guess the mini games can be pretty fun when played with others, just not the awful board games. I haven't managed to unlock all the mini games, because, frankly, I just don't like to play the board games...

And yes, Mario Party games are exactly the same year after year. Pity...
