So SW, why all the hate on PS3 HOME?

Usually when I visit my friends house, we play MLB THE SHOW, I dont own a PS3 so its the only time I can play it. Anyway, while there, I had a chance to miss around with HOME and I gotta say, I dont understand the hate it gets here in SW.

While "playing", I felt it was a perfect move from SONY. I see it as a giant TimesSquare. It appears to be the perfect program, place to slap people with ADS without looking out of place, a place which can help the consumer and SONY by generating revenue.

While FREE, the setup is pretty decent. You dont have to walk a mile to play a game with others, you can just simply pull up the menu. Also, there appears to be a lot of people in HOME. The stuff I liked about it is the FREE games you can play with, with others such as bowling,board games, etc.

One feature that I thought was cool was the theater where you can actually watch shows for free. Well at least when I last "played" HOME, they had an entire anime on display for anyone to view for free.

Overall, I think HOME was a good idea and has the potential of really having a impact. I dont understand the hate it gets here in SW.

From my own experience is home just seems a pointless cash in on the whole Second Life success (which also sucks) and the money they put in to creating home could have been used to create maybe a couple of new IP's.

I made a girl character... omg, it was insane, i got messages from weird dudes filling my inbox with messages, asking me how old i was, where i lived, what i was wearing, it was pretty sad. And non stop dudes would just follow me and said some pretty ridiculous stuff. But thats not why i dont like home, ts just, theres no point to it i dont think. One thing i thought they were doing it for was so you would collect your trophys and have them on display in a trophy room, and the higher level you were the more access to clothes and houses you had, stuff like that would have given it a cool purpose, but it just doesnt have one right now.

I didn't read anything your post by the way, but as far as why the hate the answer is because it's SW. Every day there are multiple threads about why don't you like this or why are you dissing that. Because everyone on SW is a fanboy and they believe dissing a game on someone else's system somehow makes the system they own better.

Why do I have to be bothered with something that much to do about nothing? Is my facebook account and game website accounts not enough? I have to put up with a stupid SIMs clone b/c I love useless commercials and promotions so much? I am not living in Japan, not anti-social and having a pretty full filling life. So no thanks.

It's essentially useless from a gaming perspective. It's primarily for social reason. While I'm the last person to be anti-social, Home just goes overboard with the "trying to be cool" vibe.

Home has been a complete waste.

None of my friends care about HOME so I don't really have a use for it. And yeah its like hanging out a mall...by yourself. :P

And the experience isn't that seamless either, too much load times between areas to make me want to browse around it all day. Maybe its better now, but I don't know.

Don't want the hate? Then don't hype it as the second coming of Christ. There was large movement behind the idea that Home would "crush" Xbox Live. It doesn't matter if it was your opinion or not. The fact remains there was a lot of hype behind so in turn it attracted a lot of negativity from opposing fan boys.

It's a pointless second life cash in that is filled with pre-pubescent future sex offenders. It's so uninviting that the escapist even wrote an artile about it.

"Teh Megaton" rings a bell, there was talk about this being |"The end of XBL" and that it finally justified the PS3. The community is to blame for the level of hate but that's not to say that HOME isn't crap. it is crap. The people in it make it crap, it's a chatroom filled with the type of people that have nothing else to do but sit in a chatroom when they are on a system built for games! It's has almost no point to it also, there is nothing really to DO, it does not have the expansiveness of Second life, a place it so desperately wants to be you can almost smell it, it also lacks the massive community of SL but falls foul of all the worst points and is bundled with a much more immature audience.

I have no real use for it. I don't feel like any people worth "meeting" are in Home, and the huge amounts of room-by-room downloading make the program seem like it's just taking up hard-drive space. I tried to like it when the beta was released, but I deleted it yesterday when I realized that there was no real reason for me to have it.

No one, not even the most harcore Cow, can deny that, after all that hype for two freaking years, HOME fell flat on its face....falling from a car going 90. Also, as it has been said, it's like hanging out at a mall. I never went through that mallrat stage in my adolescence (thank God), so the whole thing just seems unappealing.

Home is soooo boring. The videos in the theater are about the quality of a high school video production project. Also, I have never been able to play any of the games...aside from chess. I end up waiting in line for 10 or more minutes to bowl or play pool, and then I just can't figure out why I'm waiting to play a mini game, when I could be playing a real game. The only fun I've ever had on Home is annoying other users. Needless to say, I uninstalled it.

Hey, Sony...How about you quit wasting time and money on Home and give us cross-game chat and a real party system?

Home is good for the mini games, the cool prizes, contests, and sometimes the theatre shows TV shows and movies clips. Still, Home has yet to give us the ability to stream everything from our hard drive into out virtual TV an radio for others to be able to see/hear, and watching movies when only one person buys it (like in real life!). So far they have pictures down.

Since its still technically a beta, I'll forgive Home... THIS TIME.

Its just to talk with people i guess, its not a game... And im preaty sure Sony is making money off of Home. Theres loads of advertisment for real life stuff in it...

I do like HOME and I use it often, but I also understand the hate it gets. HOME was hype and people had the wrong idea about what it was going to be. But there are also lemming here that never use HOME and just call it a FLOP with out knowing sh!t.RTUUMM
