Not realy, cheaper console always wins. Thats why theres like 50 million Wiis sold and only 30 million Xboxes.

It goes from cheapest to most expansive, not in quality.

To be honest, since I have had a stand-alone BluRay player, the PS3 was never worth much to me, at all.

I mean, there are a lot more games on the 360 that I like, versus the PS3. I couldn't care less about all of the other crap. I buy video game consoles to play games, not watch movies. It's a shame the PS3 has been marketed as everything but a video game console, imo. I am not going to pay $600, $500, or even $400 for a console I am not going to use much.

However, $299 is an ok price for it, and as soon as GOW3, and Uncharted 2 comes out, I will probably buy one.

No, the technology required to make the console has dropped so the price is passed on to the consumer. It's like that with every console ever made.(except for the Wii)clubsammich91

the ps3 was originally worth over $840 (the cost to make one) but was sold at a loss for $600. since then, the manufacturing process got more efficient and cost effective as IBM and Nvidia switched the Cell BE and RSX (respectively) to a 65nm process with 45nm in the future. according to a sony talking head, even though they just reduced the manufacturing cost by 70%, they are still losing money for each PS3 sold ( at $299). no one but sony knows the cost of production or the amount lost per console. still, with the lower cost of making the cell, rsx and blu-ray drives (standalones are now $150 for samsungs and lg's), the ps3's production cost will continue to fall but sony will most likely wait to lower the cost of the ps3 again so that they could start to make a profit for console sold, not a loss.

So why have the 360 and Wii continuously outsold the PS3?

*** as far as being outsold every week... well, I think there may have been 10 or less weeks that the PS3 may have outsold the other two... does any one have the numbers and a link? Its inarguable that the Wii and 360 have outsold it for several years. Is the price drop enough?

Think of it this way.

Now that the PS3 has games worth getting the PS3 itself is worth getting.

If the PS3 had games worth getting at $600? Well, you'd have seen a lot more people rush to buy it.

I've actually wanted a Ps3 for quite some time, and feel that it is probably worth 300 dollars. At its current price, it is a pretty sweet deal. I never bought one because I never had 400 bucks to spare. I got a wii because my girlfriend was willing to split it with me due to her desire to play wii fit and download snes games on virtual console. I honestly didn't have the 300 bucks to spare since now i'm broke, but I had wanted one for so long I couldn't just couldn't resist when the slims came out.

Actually, I did not put only right next to $299... I wrote, "only worth" and for many, no one was going to buy it till it was $299 because thats what they perceived the value to be.
