...who cares? I'm not going to buy them. In fact, there are more good Wii games than an average person can buy. So whats the point?lancea34wiiware titles and the upcoming exclusive games for the wii are what makes the wii something worth wild. i just cant wait to see what else games developers have in store for it. madworld was the latest game, but what else is next to be announced.

what exlcusive games are you talking about?
There are a lot of bad games and great games on all the systems.
That said, the influx of new gamers buying the Wii (Who do not generally read reviews, know gaming names, etc) are at an increased risk of buying the well marketed trash, which could end up harming gaming, as this is the same sort of thing that preceded the 1983 Video Game crash (Influx of gamers and a glut of shovelware).
On the flip side, its just as likely that these new gamers will eventually try deeper games on the Wii and/or other systems and become more "hardcore" (I hate that term...) and become gamers for life, broadening the industry at the same time.
Its an interesting fork, but hopefully, it helps gaming, although there are many other pulls that are risking our beloved hobby than simply the Wii/casual gamers, such as the higher cost of development, the consolidation of industry players, rising costs of the systems themselves, and much stronger media/politician backlash, among other things.
I for one think gaming will thrive, and this is one time where I would absolutely hate to be wrong.
I always like how in these types of threads it takes Wii bashers around 20 posts before they start saying stuff. People are quick to get uppity and defend the Wii.
Having said that, I agree. I've yet to play Battalion Wars because there's so many games that I want to play.

I was a new "gamer" and a kid when the NES was around. The NES, as we all know, had an incredible amount of shovelware, but I still managed to avoid games like Back to the Future, and there were no Intarwebs back then. Mouth to mouth wisdom goes a long way. That's why Ninjabread Man, while probably breaking even and maybe making some profit because of the fact that it had almost no production budget, hasn't sold more than 30k.

no. not influx of gamers, influx of consoles.
too many companies were pumping out their own consoles with their own crappy games. at the end of the crash, retailers refused to carry videogame consoles. thats why Nintendo named their system NES, "Nintendo Entertainment System". since retailers didnt want to have anything to do with videogames, Nintendo's idea of naming it an "Entertainment System" was, sadly enough, the only reason retailers agreed to carry it.
EDIT: whoa, looks like i have digressed a little. lol. i watched a show on it, i think it was "History of the Video Game" on the Discovery Channel
I actually like the Wii alot, and personally dont see how people dont see at least the slightest appeal in it.
I can understand not being crazy about it, but with games like SMG, Zelda, Wii Sports, and MP3, I dont see how people can at least see some appeal.

I love the NES man, and all of the shovelware.
Angry Video Game Nerd tells all about the shovelware that was Back to the Future, lol.
[QUOTE="ogvampire"][QUOTE="ClarentUK"]Because they're there INSTEAD of good games?ClarentUK
of course, thats how it works
Well they could have made a good game, but they made a bad game instead.
It's not rocket science.
lol. jeez, i didnt think you were serious :|
wow. just wow...
The Wii may be somthing new from a hard ware stand point, but the games are the same old stuff.
Another Super Smash Brothers, another Metroid, another Zelda, more Pokemon and another Mario Kart.
For somthing so innovative it certainly doesn't like giving us somthing new.
This is why I sold my Wii.

or, like high voltage they could be making bad games, and then the wii came along and they decided to put the effort in.

The 360 doesn't rely on games that have been milked for over a decade, it's far from the same. The only big franchise that the 360 even really had from it's predacessor was Halo.

you know Nintendo CANT make their own games and a whole crop of new ones at the same time, right?

MS only has a few first party titles, unlike nintendo or sony, that have boatloads. see the difference?

Yes, god forbid Nintendo divert the man power from the next Mario Party and Pokemon Stadium to make something genuinly new.
And I really don't care whats first and third party. What matters to me is which console is getting good games that don't feel like the same thing I've been playing for hte last decade. And Im not going to go easy on Nintendo because they can't get hardly any decent third party games. Games are game, Im not going to treat Nintendo differently because the only good games on it's console a first party revisits of ancient franchises.
If Nintendo can't bring anything actually new to the table then theres no point in playing with the Wii. I might as well just stick with the Gamecube.

i dont understand your thinking. why would they divert man power from games that consistently sell over a million. whether you like those games or not, millions of people are buying them.
Nintendo has pretty much kept the business going on their franchises alone. something that MS and Sony cannot do
sony and ms consoles are almost identical, why would you want nintendo to make the same console with those same games?
it didnt work the last 2 gens, why would they try that again?
nintendo has been in business for over 100 years. im sure they know what they are doing
Accually...Good and Bad are each ones opinions...SO...The worst game in the world could very well be someones very favorite game..
The ammount of Red Steels out there outweigh the SMG, but its still a good system, its just got alot more shovelware than the other two......and the PS2. :lol:xxastrocreepxx
you know what system you can thank for pretty much re-creating the shovelware movement?: ps2

Yes but those games are fun! Besides, The Wii is introduced to a larger number of players, some who haven't played these titles' predecessors (like me). Also, these games introduce something new to refresh the gameplay. And to end my post, Super Smash Brothersl and Metroid Prime are unlikely to have another sequel.

have you ever considered that nintendo innovates within their own franchises?Hell....you're gonna sit here and tell me that a repetitive game like assassin's creed is more innovative than mario galaxy just because it's a new IP?
this just in
A new IP doesn't automaticaly equal innovation.
