Great year if your a gamer. Its not over yet, I was one who "thought" that the PS3 would make a strong push. LBP, and Resistance 2 didnt knock out Gears 2 and Fable II. They didnt close the gap on XBL, didnt release Home but let XBOX 360 release the NXE. XBLA is still boss compaired to anything that on PSN. I have both, enjoy the heck out of both....Great Year if your a gamer.

You know, even if the PS3 were to vastly improve beyond even where it is now and actually end up having a library that's superior to the 360's and outsell the 360 by the end of this gen... Well, it has stil lost. Coming off the PS2, which *smashed* the original XBOX, and carrying the strongest brand name in gaming, this half-arsed limp it's doing to get a few good games two years into its life and its struggle to keep up with the 360 for sales isn't a victory - it's a stunning defeat. The 360 has notably improved upon the legacy of its predecessor. The PS3 has taken a big steaming dump on what Sony accomplished with the PS and PS2. Even if the PS3 manages to barely edge out the 360 for sales and gets a lineup that, taken in its entirety, competes with the now superior 360 lineup, it would have to do a lot better than that to be a winner this gen

If the PS3 manages to barely out-touch the 360 this gen, which it may or may not do, they won't be doing much celebrating at Sony, and rather dreading what's going to happen next gen in the face of a much stronger XBOX brand and a PS brand that isn't a fraction of what it was coming into the PS3 gen.

You have a point. Not as many fantastic games. If were talking games, IMO...they focused on XBLA more. I dont know why, Castle Crashers, Geometry Wars, Braid, and Galaga Legions were some of the exclusive arcade games they had. They didnt release any killer games other than Gears 2. PS3 didnt release any killer games besides MGS4....so with that. IDK what to say. No leaps and bounds.

I read that alot (Resistance 2 online). I played it and I really, really didnt enjoy it. It was like chaos...to much going on, and everyone sprinting. Now did I give it a chance to grow on me? NO....I should but I cant really stand Halo 3 online either. Its just not my thing, I like the scaled down 5 vs. 5 of gears...or horde that does require teamwork too. Resistance online is just not my thing. I enjoy the weapons of the single player and the waves of enemies....nice gameplay.

As for LBP..they advertised basically a game where you can do basically ANYTHING...and they came thru with that. Its a wonderful game, now that I have it and I played a few user created boards IDK. Its like The devs are saying to themselves "c'mon users puuuuleease do something with this, make boards..more boards". I dont want to create a level. So now, I just visit it to play other maps that end and then I'll play another one. Okay...none of the levels are as good as the ones that are on the game. Then I looked on the PSN and they are asking you to purchase a little outfit for your sackperson...c'mon. Is that going to enhance my gameplay while playing it?

When the Wii hardware is first place again and when the 360 software is first place again and when the PS3 is in last place for both hardware and software I don't think you can call 2008 the year of the PS3.

Even if LBP comes out for the psp it will still be an exclusive. The name may not be, but the game itself will be. They are not porting the game over to the PSP but instead designing a much less leniar version to fit on a handheld console. So LBP there for is still an exclusive (the game itself).

Left 4 dead on the other hand is getting PORTED to another media source, the pc. There for it is in no way, shape, or form an exclusive.

While the logic that it is a game that the 360 gets over the ps3 still stands, the OP logic is fail about the game LBP not being an exclusive to the ps3 just because a new version is comeing out, eventualy.

While the smarter posters here will get what im saying right off the bat, i am interested in how the the posters who can not deal with logic will respond(I.e fanboys)

I think the problem people are haveing is staying on topic. When talking about exclusives Left 4 Dead is not one. When talking about which console has better games that the other does not, then Left 4 dead can be included.

if it can be played on another system and it is similar if not better than it isnt exclusive. as in, if LBP did end up on psp, it would not even be the same game, it would be a totally different game altogether and would require tons of cuts, who knows it could end up being a fully 2d cell shaded game... l4d on pc will perform and look best  on pc of course and it is the same core game if we discount the extra pixels and effects, etc.

there is some muddy waters maybe,  we can look at it like farcry, on pc it was a different game than the xbox1 version, thats mostly because it was a different team though and nobody wanted to bother porting farcry in all it's glory. but there is a huge gulf betwen ps3 and psp thats not really debatable.

This was also supposed to be the 360's year again , on lockdown if you will. That didn't happen. As it stands right now , the ps3 had the better results at Gamepsot so far (slightly) and clearly the better year at Gamerankings with exclusives games. There was a huge base of people that said that it wouldn't happen for the ps3. They got owned , and now they are in full damage control mode. Don't fret 360 owners , you still had an ok year. Be happy with that and hope next year bring you better results.
