So, what are your top 3 jrpg's this gen on consoles so far?

1. Lost Odyssey = Such a deep story, and yet the traditional gameplay was stellar.

2. Final Fantasy 13 = though not my favorite FF by a longshot, the story and scenery were amazing. A lot of work went into this.

3. Tales of Vesperia = Wow, this game was the real deal. The story, character design, and gameplay were top notch.

Also, though it's not a tradition jrpg, but I really liked Demon Soul's as well. I loved Blue Dragon, but that game didn't have any support hardly :(

I've only played FF13 so I can only comment on that one, but its a great game.

Rune Factory is great aswell, really, but after playing nearly every Harvest Moon since the Snes it kinda felt dull.

Should pick up some Resonance of Fate. Solid game so far.

there were many good JRPGs this generation (FF13, Lost odyssey, Valkyria chronicles, ToV, Demon's souls, Yakuza 3andRoF) and many above aveage JRPGs (WKC, SO4, Infinite undiscovery and Fragile dreams) but nothing amazing (not counting handhelds).

No love for Resonance of Fate?

It's what FFXIII should have been from what I've seen.

Anyway, I would say (in no particular order)

• Resonance of Fate
• Tales of Vesperia
• Demon's Souls

(I own RoF, but not FFXIII though, don't take my word for it but I heard you need 20 hours in FFXIII for it to be good and you need to actually finish the game for it to be 100% good :P)

I guess VC isn't a true JRPG, but I still count it as one. As much as I liked FF13 it doesn't make my top 3.

nice thread actually.. i like it.

mine are :

1- Final Fantasy XIII: the story is actually good and missions that it has are really addictive.

2-Valkyrie Chronicle: although i haven't beaten this game but i'm 45 hours in this game. And it has unique system.

3- Eternal Sonata: how did they emerge a composer's story and a jprg game in one ??!! now that's impressive.

right now, i've only got FFXIII and i'm 109 hours in it.

i might get back to Valkyrie Profile and Eternal Sonata later since i'm about to get done with FFXIII lol .. cheers

IIRC TriAce said in an interview that CotP is indeed the 3rd chapter in the series. Think of it this way. Did Star Ocean 3 and 4 have numbers at the end of the title?

Those are just my favorite DS games. I have plenty more.
