So what game, that failed, any system/era, deserves another (CURRENT GEN)chance?

well....I kinda got it all out in the "topic" :P

I honestly believe that there have been some REALLY good game "ideas" that had great potential, but maybe suffered from poor development, wether it was rushed, poor design, ect....

I'm thinking of games from from 8-bit to now....but what do you all think? I'll give yall some if the topic takes off ;)

peace and Godspeed

Army of 2 is such a good game!! And it got such below average reviews and well it will get another chance guarenteed after the ending... thing is it deserves more and has great concepts in it. And also not that it failed... but it was forgotten is Duke Nukem i dont know what they could do but hey dev's r smart these days they'll think of a good something to hook us onto it again!

Kill.Switch, such an awesome game and the ending sets it up for a sequel sadly don't think there will be one since everyone seems to love Gears now and forgot where that cover style came from.

I know one failed but I don't know about the other but I would like them to atleast be released in North America on the DS or Wii. They both are similar to The Legend of Zelda series just weren't as popular well I know the second one listed that game wasn't popular but it did have a television series from what I heard, and the other one was inspired by Link to the Past.

  • Marvelous: Another Treasure Island (known in Japan as Marvelous: Mouhitotsu no Takarajim which is Eiji Aonuma's first game played similar to Zelda even though I never played it I just hope it releases in North America since I never played the original this game has 3 party characters)

  • Mysterious Murasame Castle (known in Japan as Nazo no Murasamejō which plays similar to Zelda except it is set in a Samurai setting and I want to try this game since it was never released outside of Japan it also had some sort of time limit)

Edit* I think Yu Suzuki should make Shenmue 3 since they only had 5 of the 15 or 16 chapters so far. (I never played Shenmue series before but I'm buying Shenmue 1 from Amazon.com in a few days) I don't care what console that should be for because I would get it for whichever console it is released for.

Descent. Two great games, one average third game, and then the publisher collapses before they get to redeem the franchise.

I added Shenmue in my edit and I think SEGA should make a new Shenmue even though I never played it but I'm buying it in a few days also they only had 5 Chapters of the 15 - 16 Chapter of the Shenmue's Storyline.

suzuki plan was to spread the series into many sequels like the final fantasy series. the story itself was suppose to be Epic..but it ended with the 2nd gaming flopping

Whenever Shenmue was released Yu Suzuki stated that he planned Shenmue to be a 15 or 16 part story Shenmue is one part of it, and Shenmue 2 covers the next 4 chapters so they only went through 5 Parts of the Shenmue Plot. He wanted the whole series to be just 4-5 games with many different Chapters in each game after the first game.

"Shenmue on the Dreamcast is more notorious for its overambitious budget than its poor sales figures. While it sold a respectable number of units, at the time of release, the game had the record for the most expensive production costs (over US$70 million), and its production time was 5 years. Shenmue was a critical hit, earning an average review score of 89% on Game Rankings. It also sold moderately well, with 460,316 units in the US alone (according to NPD). However, these sales figures were not enough for Sega to recoup the massive production costs. The sequel, Shenmue II, published in Japan and Europe for Dreamcast, was never released in America on the original Dreamcast console, and fans had to wait for the eventual Xbox port. However, the sales for Shenmue II on Xbox proved to be far less than those of the original game (179,648)"

oh oh and another game that was truely the FIRST game to use ALL genres of gaming in one game(open ended, choose your dialog, adventure, fighting, rpg elements, first person shooting when using weapons, Mortal Kombat style fighting for sidequest club fighting, not dying when killed but taking over someone elses body, adventure collecting,....man!)

and the game i speak of is Omikron: the nomad soul. so ahead of its time most people were like...uhhh...what?

I really liked Blood Omen 2 on the Ps2 but felt that it needs just a little bit more to be even more successful. Apparently it didn't do too well sales wise though but I thought it had a really addictive game atmosphere.

Wow, I didn't think anyone else ever played that game. You could take cars and everything. I'm still pissed that I saved right before the end guy with nothing in the way of ammo because I didn't realize that was the end. Never could beat it with just the basic pistol and it still haunts me. I want my soul back!

I'm going to say, "Screw it," and just point out one of the most tragically ignored games ever: Gun.

Gun was an awesome action-adventure set in the Old West, and it was easily one of the best games of 2005.

It sold only 255,000 copies across 6 platforms.

Lol, I've still got the discs floating around here somewhere. I should try it out again. I hadn't heard about a sequel, but perhaps by then I'll have a 360. Cheers.

Kill.Switch, such an awesome game and the ending sets it up for a sequel sadly don't think there will be one since everyone seems to love Gears now and forgot where that cover style came from.bobbetybob

i loved killswitch, but damn...

the ending sucked. it just seemed to come out of nowhere. when i first played it, I had no idea I was on the last level until the credits started to roll

Alright, I am going to break out a game I'm pretty sure none of you have ever heard of or played. This game rocked my world when I found it way, way back in the day.

Strife

And while I am at it... Also,

Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance
