So what was the big deal about Uncharted?

i just got my PS3 finally, and per the hype of this forum i bought uncharted instead of R&C (too easy i heard) or Heveanly sword (too short) and i already played Ninja Gaiden on Xbox.

While the graphics in Uncharted are nice, they didnt really blow me away, i think the screens look better than the actual game does.

And for the cows who bash ME's texture popins uncharted has those as well, albeit not nearly as frequently, but it still happens on the first load ups of a game or every now and then when u come back from death (it doesnt bother me in either ME or uncharted but some people made a big deal of it with ME and i never heard it brought up with Uncharted)

As for the actual game...its fun, but nothing special at all...i mean the combat gets tedious when u have to shoot someone 150 times for them to die...

The platforming is a lot of fun

The story is...ok, i mean it kind of feels like National treasure with indiana jones as the main charecter

The game is shorter than i expected...i thought 12-15 but im 92% done with 8 hours of gameplay (im not running through the game either...im on normal difficulty)

So, all in all, good game....but for the amount of praise it gets i think cows should maybe invest in a 360...cause i can name at least 5-6 games i would prefer over this one

It is an incredible game with tons of replay value, the story is very interesting and the characters are hilarious, I can`t remember the last time a game has made me laugh so much.

Best single player experiences? hmm, i would suggest getting all three consoles if u dont have em all, cause of recent releases i would put Metroid prime 3, super mario galaxy, Mass Effect, Bioshock and a few others over this one in terms of overall singleplayer experience

Uncharted is an amazing game and so is Mass Effect but bashing a good game on a forum that is pro the system your asking for itCommanderTy

You should at least rent Heavenly Sword. It's a game that should not be missed by anyone who owns a PS3 and I agree with you on Uncharted that's why after I beat it it went to ebay.

Nicely written post, but I still don't think you've actually played Uncharted. It is gorgeous, and the screens look nowhere near as good as the final game. It even looks good on an SDTV, which is really saying something.

The shooting was always satisfying, for me, and sure I can think of 5-6 games I would purchase over it, too, it doesn't mean I have a 360. Get off the biased bandwagon.

Yeah Uncharted is just a next gen Tomb Raider, thats really all it is. I believe this game and other PS3 exclusives are over hyped because of the drought of exclusive PS3 have or had at the time.

Something that really impressed me with Uncharted was the depth and detail put into the animation system. All the characters moved fluidly and seemed to actually interact with the differences in their surroundings and what they were doing. Also, I thought the AI was very deep as the enemy would communicate with each other, move from cover to cover, and pop out from cover in several different ways.

The trouble that you may have been having with shooting the enemies could be that their health acts like yours does. So if you don't finish them off, they'll heal back as well.

I'm only about an hour in and so far the biggest surprise has been the quality of the cutscenes. I laughed a few times during the first few segments. I am looking forward to seeing more of these.

I've seen texture pop in maybe once when i loaded and I'm on my 2nd playthrough of Uncharted. ME it happens everytime, literally. Yes, i've played and beaten ME and it's an amazing game.

The big hype around Uncharted is that it's just a superb game in every aspect.

i haven't played this game but putting portal above in terms of comedy is ouch. i dont know y people found portal so funny i tried to laugh in it but it just seemed so lame. im just sayin that to me portal wasnt funny at all but more of annoying.

BTW texture pop in ME is ridiculous every time. I didnt see it once the whole time I played drakes fortune. Both were on a 1080p plasma.

i agree for the most part, i made a thread like this in the ps3 section (which was quite amusing haha).

i think its definitely a fun game with solid mechanics but it was still far from perfect imo and overhyped by ps3 owners.

That is a picture of Uncharted where he is standing very close to a wall. It would be easy to find a crap pic of gears and a good pic of uncharted like that. The animations of uncharted are far more superior and screens are not a very good way to compare graphics. This person is clearly a fanboy.

Unless you've played Uncharted you have absolutely no base to even speak about it's graphics.

It's pretty easy to find terrible pics of a game. Of course, when it's done, it's usually done by a fanboy. It's a very low thing to do but, hey, it makes them feel better. :shock:

why dont youplay the game on hard or Crushing then itll take longer and do the awards part like looking for treasure and getting so many amount of headshots and stuff then see how long it takes you i passed the game and wanted more i sure hope they get to workin on a prequil or sequilCommanderTy

Thats what a Hardcore gamer would do. Not something just any average gamer would do most of the time.
