I haven't seen anyone really bash Audiosurf, but no one really posts about it.

I haven't even seen a consolite start bashing the game. Any reason why?

I like Audiosurf, it's fun, and it's seizure friendly!

The best $10 I've ever spent on a game and provides endless replay value if you have a lot of music on your HDD.

If people have this misconception that since Audiosurf is a PC game, it takes a good rig to wrong, then they're very wrong. So basically, there's no reason not to own it.

The only way in that its similiar to GH is that its a rhythm game.. i think. I've only played the demo/beta, but the main idea is to collect certain color blocks for more points as your going down the track, instead of grabbing every color block along the way. You get different vehicles i guess you could call them that that assist you in this, as some push blocks into the next row and some save them for bigger clusters. I might of given the game a bad description as ive only played 3 times or so, but im pretty sure thats the main idea.

I think is the most original game I played in many, many years.

It also looks beautiful and you can run it with a gforce 2.

It's sort of a rhythm game, but not really. At very least: it's nothing like Guitar Hero. It's more of a puzzle game, unless you're playing something like Ninja Mono. A sense of rhythm IS necessary, despite what a few might tell you. It's difficult to explain, but certain parts of tracks require an understanding of the song's rhythm, as the cars (the music blocks in the game) are snychronized with music notes -- you need to understand both when the track is about to suddenly slow down or speed up, and how to get exactly the cars you want (they're often among other cars that you don't want, especially in modes like Ninja Mono. Cars you do want are usually important notes and easy to pick out in a song. Again, it's hard to explain.)

Still haven't gotten around to buying it. I got to play it during one of the beta weekends and it was so much fun.

Well my only issue is that since it's a procedural thing it just doesn't feel... right. I mean have you watched your music visualizers and sometimes you feel like it's connected and sometimes it's not? That's how it feels. I mean sometimes the digital markers of songs don't really coincide with the feeling of the song. It looks great but it just doesn't feel like you're in the song which is the point.

I think it's great fun for 10 bucks, just another way of listening to music for me. The different kind of modes keep it interesting, some are more puzzle oriented and other twitch based and the easier ones are good for just relaxing. Together with the score boards they give it a good replayability. I can see myself booting this game up everytime I get some new music from now on.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Even my cruddy system with its on-board graphics card can run it (albiet not silky-smooth, but that's not the game's fault), and it still looks pretty. Practically infinite replay value and value for money, it's just cool to pick out one of your favourite songs and see it translated like that. Many different ways to play it what with several characters organised into 3 different difficulty levels.

If that was all it'd still be great, but the inclusion of achievements, scores, bonuses, medals, and AN ONLINE LEADERBOARD FOR EVERY SONG EVER PLAYED makes it just one of the best and most original games I've seen. And I don't think it was even hyped like many of the big-name, big-budget 'blockbuster' titles. They've outdone themselves, plain and simple.

Now my ultimate hope is that Q Entertainment or someone like uses this technology and applies it to make a dynamic on-rails shooter in the same vein as Rez. I'd even get out of my sheer apathy and upgrade my computer for that.

Its great and I do believe this game is going to get console ported. I mean sure its all speculations but when Dylan specifically gives instructions on how to hook the 360 controller and get it to play the game... I feel like something is going to happen.

But wtf with the performance? With every patch, I noticed my framerate decreasing. WTF?

ArcticSnake

Crytek gave instructions to use the 360 controller with Crysis though, and we all know that's not headed off the PC anytime soon.

True, but tbh I don't really see any reason this wouldn't go to 360 and even PS3. This type of game should suit consoles well.

Yeah, I think it'd do well on consoles too.

Very nice, small and cheap game however...

1. No asian characters are supported.

2. Although 'tracks' are generated by each different song, the resulting blocks don't build a pattern within the song even though notes are punctuated at the right times. So even though it's classed as a rhythm game, it isn't really - it's more of a puzzler.

3. Online leaderboard can be easily bypassed (?) - so...what's your high score for 'track 1 - unknown artist'? (:P)
