For me, it's Silent Hill 2 Remake. Bloober pretty much nailed it, minus David Duchovny's face.

Helldivers 2.

Not sure if ever vote for a remake unless I feel my soul has given up on the industry completely.

feel the same,,,,until SH2R. but i'm a big SH fan, so yeah.

other than that, have mostly given up on the industry, absolutely. but i think things will start turning around. signs in the stars, and all that.

Factorio: Space Age expansion. Not an entire new game, but I'm adding it here because it adds more than a new game's worth of content to an incredible. I'm restarting a new factory from scratch and I haven't even touched the new content yet lol.

Also, the amount of changes and improvements from the 2.0 update (free; the expansion is charged) is great.

Honorable mentions:

• Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. A good movie game? Preposterous! But this one somehow really nails it. The movement is great, the survival-lite components are fun, hunting beasts is great, good combination of stealth and run n' gun, really gorgeous environments, and excellent immersion.
• World of Warcraft: The War Within. WoW is blessed with more good expansions than bad, thankfully, and while Dragonflight was great they somehow manage to do better with War Within. New playable race, some gorgeous new zones to explore, nice quests lines, interesting dungeons and raids. The 20-year old MMO still manages to be a great game, with tons of awesome content.

1. Banishers Ghost of New Eden

I like Banishers because it tells such a human tale: the bond between two characters. You can decide everything in that game, who to spare, who to kill, what missions to do and which not to do.

The gameplay was a God of War (reboot) style that I was very fond of. Balance was a bit off but a mod fixed that for me.

I feel Silent Hill 2 would be up there too if it wasn't such a mess on PC with all the stutters, it draws you out of the experience.

Black Myth: Wukong is truly my GOTY 2024. That game surprised me so many ways, it was my most played game so far for this year anyway. I'll do my usual top 10 games of 2024 next month before VGA 2024 starts.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Not only is it my GotY for 2024 it's also my GOAT game.

Yeah, for me the stutters on PC are flat out unacceptable. Stuttering is the line for me. Total immersion breaking. I went with the PS5 version because of it. When PC gets fixed, I'll double-dip.

Did you use the face mod for Angela, pretty her up? Is that what you're talking about?

Makes her look like a normal human being. Best thing of all: it didn't break any of the animations.

The PC version is a lot better now, alongside another mod I used to reduce stutter. But yeah the state in which it launchewas completely and utterly unacceptable.

How's the ray tracing in that game?

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown. I haven't completed it yet, so my opinion might not mean much. It's a great game though. 😊

Yeah that's the one I saw. Looks solid. Didn't tweak her too much, just enough. Still think it's so freaking weird why this had to be done in the first place. Like, what the hell was Bloober thinking lol.

Using Raytracing isn't bad but I decided to ended up not using it. For an UE5, it's pretty good.

If someone asked me "what should be the GOTY contenders?" I would say

1. Astro Bot (never played) because it's a very successful throwback to PS2 games
2. STALKER 2 (not out yet) all the previews say it's incredible
3. Black Ops 6. Sales, first CoD game on Game Pass.
4. Dragon's Dogma 2
5. Helldivers 2 (never played) it was a huge hit (still is), and was the biggest game of the 1st half of 2024 IMO.

I guess when I look for Game Of The Year, I look for industry impact as much as quality of the game.

Dragon's Dogma 2, perhaps. Still don't know what Itsuno was thinking, but I had a great time with it.

EDF6 was a disappointment. Fun, but disappointing.

Yup. Not as many, but it's not like you're gonna notice a difference. Steamcharts says 45k players in the last 24 hours, which is very good.

Only played a few games from 2024 ( Wukong is the only high profile one and only played it for a few hours) but none of them are deserving .

I'm hoping it will be Space Marine 2 - but it needs to get a real discount for me to buy it.
