I also think there will be another MGS announced for PS3, a true sequel to MGS4. I also expect Mass effect 2 on PS3 and a lot more games than MS showed today.
The metal gear solid series that some have loved and some have hated ended as we know it w/ MGSIV. We all knew this. It wasn't far fetched to think that future MGS games with different stories, main characters, and even gameplay would be multiplat, and MAYBE more geared to the masses rather than the "cult" type following the series had in the past. If i remember correctly Kojima said he wanted to make a more "western" style game. Maybe that's the direction the new metal gear games will go? Whol knows?

Lets face it Snake was a loser in MGS4 and without Raiden he'd have been in a retirement home before the first hour of cutscenes begun. It's only natural the X360 gets the superior version with the superior character.
We get a sword weilding badass part robot part girlman. The PS3 gets an old guy, in tight clothing who moans a lot. Says it all.
Only if Rising was an action game. At the end it said "sneak in" which was a let down for me. I don't like the stealth elements in MGS. But Raiden's cutscenes is the type of game I want to play. I want him doing crap like that not sneaking around like snake.

It's made by Kojima, do you really think there's not going to be a "convoluted" story? That's actually part of the charm of MGS, so if you don't like that, why would you be interested in MG:R?

There is no MGS5, the MGS series ended with MGS4. Kojima will start a new string of MG games starting with MG Rising. That is the new Metal Gear game and it's no spin off. It's going to be everything MGS4 was and more.

Halo has been around since 2001, in nine years we'll have four official Halo games with standalone one expansion and one RTS spinoff. And that's milkage when all of them have been well critically received (Save ODST and Reach)?

Nah, look at my MGS4 posting history. I haven't changed once on this one.
It was just a friendly jab :).
However at this point there is nothing to suggest that the new Metal Gear will be a completely different style than MGS4 that you were never thrilled about. It may turn out to be, but I don't believe any of us have played it yet in order to confirm so. You must admit the fact that its on 360 has got you more excited.
