So, Gamespot chose the best for each console. The news is that a Ps3 game ( Demon's Souls ) defeated another Ps3 game ( Uncharted 2 ).

Demon's Souls, Assassin's Creed 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Dead Space Extraction are now contenders for GOTY.

As logical as it sounds, I dont think GOTY can only be chosen by the best games on each respective platform.

I know and this has nothing to do with which game is best ps3 game, even tho Demon Souls is the best ps3 game its still possible that GOTY will go to Uncharted 2 :).. will see tomorrow :).. seriously if you ask me i wouldnt mind seeing Demon Souls as GOTY, its also a great game and it deserves it. its tomorrow so will see

Watch, other developers will steal DS's raiding system in future games - its just so cool.

Demon's Souls is not only excellent, but did a few new things, unlike the rest of the competition, so I think DS should win GotY for sure.

You can rent and beat UC2 easily in a week, Dragon Age Borigins just isn't any fun, and shooters are just shooters.

The only thing that's unique is the online. Daring? Hardly. Unless you think the difficulty is "daring".

How does a 9.0 > a 9.5? It makes no sense whatsoever. That just ***** over the entire review system and makes them meaningless.

The Sims is a Simulataion game (hench the name Sims=Simulation) or a Vitral Life game (as Gamespot listed it). I would say ODST is more of a strategy game(with Firefight )than the Sims 3 is.

Strategy is defined as long term planning thats exactly what you do in the Sims. It derives from the Greek word for war hence its relation to war but Strategy is present in many things including your own life.

i'm pretty sure spore was nominated for best strategy last year, but that made more sense than the sims 3 being in it.

It makes perfect sense. Reviews are the opinion of one, repeat ONE, reviewer while Annual Awards are decided by the entire staff.

Uncharted 2 of course. GS was only joking with that crap of a game Demon's Souls.

I just think GS wanted everybody to "know" that Demon's Souls was the best on PS3 or else it might be forgotton like so many other great games in the past that got over looked because they weren't main stream enough to hit the headlines (they might not want to undermine another classic MGS type franchise that this could turn out to be)....

but I think they will simply give the award to UC2 to make everybody happy.

remember thay game MGS1 an 8.5, I think they're trying to make a statement by saying they at least recognize the quality of this game (Demon's Souls) as one of the best avalible NOW in case it ends up becoming one of the true classics of this generation.
