SO why is PSN so much slower than XBL?

The Ps3 patches take 20 minutes to download, then another 5 to install. 360 updates take 12 seconds.

Demos take longer on the PSN marketplace and... what? You have to install a demo? Wow, thats neat.

Patches take up to 10 minutes to download for PSN, on 360 they take around 10 seconds.

So why is it that everything on the PSN is slow when compared to Xbox Live?

Everyone seems to have a different experience with this ....... I know a lot of people that say the majority of their downloads for demos are a bit faster for PSN than XBL .

Funny, i know alot of people who say that live is tremendously faster than psn. My psn service is awful. I hope that they will fix it so that the experience is the same for EVERYONE, which clearly it isn't. I have rarely had issues with live, the worst being the day bioshock demo was available. Other than that it has been great. That is what i want for my psn, a great overall service and not one where there are way to many question marks.

Would have taken me alot less then that on the PC (assuming the demo was on PC).. does that make xbox live slow?

(Most games don't actually take as long as the Burnout one did, it was just an extreme case.. but the general point was that experience can vary.)

A good example is the fact that it took only 5 minutes to download the complete Smash TV game.Juggernaut140

It only took me a whopping 7 minutes to download Crapsite-Area 51 off of PSN.

when i had my ps3, the downloads were so bad i wouldn't waste my time on demos. now that i have a 360 i can agree that the patches are lightening fast in comparison, and the demo downloads are much faster as well.. like 5-10 times faster. also, the hd movies are faster than i thought they would be.

oh, and if you have a slow internet connection, sorry but no matter what you will have slow downloads. it seems thought that if you have a 6mbps or faster connection, psn is the bottleneck. i have a friend with a fios connection which is 50mbps and xbl will utilize it fully. he gets 3gb high def movies in minues.

I guess all those points that the Sony fanboys were making are untrue. DURR our PSN is better cuz it's free. Yeah...about that.

That sounds like your issue then because I download demos this size in about 5-15 minutes.

That's a good post, that is probably how it is for anyone. There are a lot of factors that play in on how fast you get your downloads. How fast is your connection, how busy is XBL or PSN, are you connected to the fastest server, how many jumps are you away, etc...

You took 6 hours to download Uncharted which is like almost a Gig. If you Play online while you download it goes slow. Plus XBL is like 5 years old while the PSN is like only 1 year old.

I don't know if XBL is any fast since i have never used it...But PSN isn't slow at all for me, it's really fast actually. Every thing goes fast, okey sometimes the patches take 10min, but i can eat during that time or do something else...

When people say it took then several hours downloading stuff i don't get it...the most i used was 50min on Uncharted and then it was 3 other computers downloading stuffs at the same time...

But i guess it's different for everybody. And no i don't have a great internet conection. 2MBz or something...
