So would the sequel to Alien Isolation be a run-n-gun dudebro gory shooter?

Considering Alien was a horror/thriller film with sci-fi backdrop and that's the movie Alien Isolation was based on, would the Alien Isolation sequel be a balls to the wall, action shooter akin to Bulletstorm or Gears because it would be based on Aliens which was exactly what I described?

No?

Creative Assembly clearly liked the original over the sequel (smart move), the sequel would be another horror game like that. Probably a less bloated game. The 2nd half of the first game is pathetic.

I too prefer Alien to Aliens, it's kinda like Terminator to Terminator 2, the first was far more horror than the second.

All you have to do is look at colonial marines to realize that they probably won't.

They found a winning formula with isolation. I doubt they're willing to go back to something else....with that being said, hopefully Isolation doesn't end up as the next Dead Space.

@verbalfilth: But Avp 2000 and 2 are better.

Having said that, these were designed with PC in mind, console shooting is handicapped.

I believe there is a middle ground to be had with respecting the creatures as enemies and introducing more action oriented gameplay that would still be however rooted in the survival nature of the Alien franchise.

I think if they kept crafting and limited ammo intact, coupled with creative ways of disposing Aliens that'd require environmental interaction, that could work. I believe the game should feature a squad of three marines with different specializations that have to collaborate with each other, each having unique key abilities. There could be as little as 5 Aliens per level and the encounters could take place in segments consisting of numerous smaller parts and not everytime we'd be able to kill them, sometimes just repel. That way Aliens could stay as tough and menacing as the one in Isolation.

That's something new to me, I'll have to try it some time.

Even AVP 2010 wasn't perfect or anything but I felt it was serviceable, especially compared to the fucking mess Gearbox shit out

@ReadingRainbow4: There's nothing worse than Colonial Marines. Period. I had that shit preordered. Lol when I truly realized it's shit it was the delivery day so the day in which review embargo was lifted. I refused to take the parcel from the UPS guy. The distributor was okay with it and I got my money back. Then I played it for free on PC :P

Lol I played it for free on PC too and I still felt I got ripped off.

How dare Gearbox show such a disregard for my time, holy shit that final boss was an abomination, well the whole game was.

To think they once made the amazing Opposing force expansion for Half-Life.

Haters gonna hate. Aliens was amazing (Alien 9/10. Aliens 10/10... and COD sucks). That said, I don't want full blown Action game as a sequel. If there is ever going to be Alien: Isolation 2, I want it like the original. But sadly the game didn't perform well, so I don't think there will be another AI game.

What we need is the Aliens of this game series. There can still be plenty of suspense even with a full fledge war against the xenomorphs taking place. We just need a developer to take the reigns that isn't shit.

Alien is a masterpiece. Aliens is just a fun film, nothing more. Let's not speak of the other two (three if you count Prometheus).

any sequel will likely have to be a lot different, for starters Sega is likely not to acquire license again after last time, meaning any publisher will need to acquire rights from both Fox and Sega to make a sequel, and Creative Assembly has their hands full with Halo Wars 2 and multiple Total War releases coming

at this point, why bother even making it a sequel to Alien Isolation and just focus on making a good action oriented Aliens game, something like what Colonial Marines SHOULD have been

the assets aren't really there either for the Alien behavior and animations to recycle assets for an action Aliens game, they'd need an enemy that can walk climb, flank, ambush, have a little more finesse, not complaining about the way the Alien was portrayed in Isolation, I was fine with that, but that was because it worked for the style and gameplay

if anything though, I imagine many of the environmental assets can be recycled, they really got the look of the films universe down

Aliens was fucking amazing, I'd rate it higher than the first.

Unfortunately it's been downhill from then on.

Aliens was better IMO. It is the first movie that ever got 10 from me. But I respect your opinion. Alien 3 was a train wreck. I avoided David Fincher movies after that for a long time (even though he's great and A3 was his only bad movie).

Alien: R was terrible. I liked Prometheus though. I didn't watch it during launch. I watched it on Star Movies but didn't like it much (I wasn't alone... Uncle's marriage and stuff). Decided to give it another go after hearing people talk about it. So bought a Disc and watched it alone on PC. Liked it.

.. Even if you were to compare it to the Aliens movie.. It wouldn't fall into that category.. The Aliens movie is nothing like Bulletstorm or Gears to even begin with in non stop action..

Winning formula? Didn't Sega say themselves that Alien Isolation failed to meet expectations in sales?

High Sales/profitability != good game.

.. But we are talking about the possibility of a SEQUEL.. Which seems unlikely right now with the fact that the publisher deemed the game a disappointment..

You mean like Tomb Raider was marked a failure and never returned a sequel?

Anyway, until you came along, no one was talking about whether or not a sequel would happen based off sales. We were talking about how a sequel would play...should it happen.

Hold up. I didn't know there was a Predator game and I'm a fan of the series at that. Yeah I need to look into that as well.

@davillain-: It was pretty decent, if they could do a current gen version of it the size of GTAV, I would freak out.

It was simply a better paced and smarter movie, reality is Cameron provides films on his best days rhythm and pace, something Alien wasn't lacking in. His film while enjoyable on may fronts, is a more action oriented take, that tends to nerf the Alien, and makes them ultimately less menacing.

The original is far more cerebral experience in comparison, and it's a thriller. It's built on being subtle. It's why the movie was so hard to translate into a video game, video games are many things, but a lot of it is the opposite of subtle. Aliens translated into video games very well, great bunnyhop video on it too

Agreed, Alien shares a lot with Jaws imo. Both amazing monster movies.
