So Microsoft and Epic gain from charging for the DLC which is better for both companies' turnover and profits. In Sony's case nobody is making anything and that's why Sony are in such a financial mess.

NOTHING IS FREE - If it is free you have to remember it cost someone something to make it and therefore they are distributing it at a loss.

Epic is still in the process of negotiating the release of the Titan Pack on the 360 and I'm willing to bet that when it does release, it's going to be free, just like its PC and PSN counterpart.

Burnout Paradise DLC was free, Left 4 Dead DLC is going to be free, I have no reason to suspect that this DLC will not also be free.

If you guys remember, Epic has vocally said how upset they are at Microsoft with pricing of DLC as they didnt want to charge for maps or any thing else for UT3 or even Gears.

Who the hell still plays UT3?

If they charged they'd make maybe $50 total... but free even the saddest act will download them in case they ever decide to playthe game again.

Whereas Gears 2 is one of the most popular online games around and is played millions of times a day, and new maps will get used millions of times and the net cost becomes a fraction of a cent for every time they're used.

If Sony thought they could get away with charging for maps that other versions got with the game in the first place, trust me they would have charged for them... but when your online service is lagging so far behind you don't want to shoot yourself in the foot by charging for garbage... hence UT3 maps packs are free.

bottom line is, PS3 users and UT3 players will be happy because they get it now and for free.

The 360 version already has splitscreen, achievements and most of the maps so whats left.

That's not all they charge for they should just rename littlebigplanet littlebigcashin and get it over with, so many costume packs on sell there. :lol: I wont even start on Home and it's £5 santa outfit. :lol:

Maybe the fact that Sony is giving away stuff in their online store for free and MS charges has something to do with the fact that Sony is losing $2 billion a year and MS make $3 billion + per fiscal quarter.

Also, I will bet you that more people will download that Gears pack @ $10 a pop than the free UT3 pack.

there was a huge debate between epic and Microsoft way back for the first gears Epic always wants there DLC to be free but as usual M$ wants money for the bandwith so epic had to end up charging for the gears dlc Epic more then other companies likes to give free dlc they have done it with unreal 3 a few times. So yes M$ is to blame for no free DLC on Xbox Live simple as that M$ is greedy and will not allow DLC with achievements go for free. Sony has not had much DLC with trophies so since they are letting epic put the DLC up with trophies for free this does not seem to be a problem with sony.

All in all M$ likes to charge for everything so take M$ whichever way you want by supporting them or not.

Yes and PSN being free unlimited IDs and xlive costing $50/yr per ID makes sense as well. M$ charges for everything. They make you pay $70 for WiFi add on and PS3 is free. They make you buy their HDD for over $100 and a maximum of 160gb. PS3 lets you buy any brand at any capacity which is currently 500gb for $89. They make you pay $12 per rechargeable battery for each controller and $30-$50 for a battery charger. PS3s comes with batteries built in and a charging cable. PS3 has a web browser and if 360 had one they would make it a $30 charge to download it.

But the thing is those are dev based decisions not sony based.

And in Warhawks case they added not only maps but new vehicles and mechanics to the gameplay. The Dropship, Jetpacks, and APC all change how the game is played and re-balance the gameplay.

And they were 8 bucks for one and you could get 3 for the price of two.

most of the dlc on sony's side is Developer decided sony does not mind giving free dlc unlike microsoft. The reason they charge is because if you have to pay for it on xbox it wouldnt be fair for the ppl on xbox if the ppl on psn did not have to pay for it. Sony seems more lenient on dlc then M$. IMO.

Dude, you are wrong. The 360 version does have split screen support, achievements, and more levels, but the levels added are not the same levels as the titan pack. The PS3 version already has added maps that can be downloaded from PSN, which may be those they added to the 360. Oh, and split screen and trophies are not in the Titan Pack, they are already released in an update form. The Titan Pack has already been announced for only the PC and PS3 due to update/size restrictions from MS.
