Socom 4 Beta 29% downloading - Worth it ?

Dunno dude, but that thing dled hella slow. I tried to play it and kept getting a connection error, so I'll check later.

The game itself was very quick to download and install but the update after launching the game is very slow, i havent played it yet, still updating

The game is quite fun and I think its worth letting your console sit by itself for an hour or 2 for...lol.

Don't get why zipper's betas make you wait so long before playing though.

Zipper did that with MAG too. Like, wth would they let you download 25% of the beta while you play games but you have to literally launch the game for it to do the other 75%. God forbid your connection stops, then you have to start all over.

The beta's OK. I've never been a Socom nut. I got the Confrontration beta and it took 30 minutes to get into a match, which I lagged out of. So by comparison, its astounding. I think its something that you could wait to play if you want to DL it overnight, but I think its worth giving a try.

I don't know what possessed them to use the same update system as MAG. Anyway, I'd say it's not worth your time or bandwidth.BZSIN

what this topic reminds me of is how i wonder which game will do better since they share the same release date, socom 4 or portal 2.

dying franchise with huge name recognition vs suprise hit getting it's first full release.

kind of a neat little battle shaping up.

Consoles really are convienient. :o I mean, it takes me 10 minutes max to download a 2gb demo of Steam. :cry:

I played it a little and it's ok. When they pull the camera back it's likely going to increase the playibility and fun factor tenfold.

I'm in the Socom Beta updating right now. It took 5 minutes to download and install from the PSN Store. The update though is 50% after 10 minutes so, I'm guessing that has more to do with Zipper's updating system since I never seem to get slow download times on PSN or XBL.

Edit: Updating took 25 minutes for me.

the actual downloads, not these updates, takes very quickly, if your internet is good then it should be 1MB per second and way more if you have some fast internet unlike me, and mine is 1MB per second with slow internet. But, the update takes forever.

Some updates however, take the same time as regular PSN downloads.. IDK, it is just weird.
