In gears of war if u hold down only the a button he still automatically sprint u dont even need to hold down a and then sprint the left movement stick, this makes the sprinting kinda clunky. Having a automatic sprint, rolling and cover system all on one button the A button makes the game pretty clunky u end up doing alot of movements u dont intend to do. socom 4 i dont suffers from these issues. plus you can be in a socom 4 map for 10 minutes and still havent seen every part. you can be in gears of war 3 maps checkout or thrashball and see whole map within 10 minutes. the maps are more complex in socom 4. WHEN IT COMES TO GAMEPLAY SOCOM 4 OVERALL WINS.
So this along with being able to jump = win for Socom 4? Sweet!

in socom 4 i jumped over a wall which was on the roof of a building landed on a car and then jump off the car onto a stack of pallets. you couldnt do this type of crap in gears of war.
i havent played either game yet (any full version anyway. I played the socom beta and it was pretty good), but im not buying all the negative hype surrounding socom 4. of course, I imagine the campaign in gears will be alot more impressive. as for multiplayer, I could see how one would like the controls and mechanics of socom more. they are more realistic and the seem to be (on a technical level) better mechanics. however, "gears" is more of a sci-fi/action series and socom is more strategic and realistic. so comparing them is unfair. of course, comparing "gears" to "red faction" and "vanquish" is fair and I say that both of them are better than any "gears of war" game I have played.
socom 4 maps dont get as boring as fast as gears of war 3 beta maps do. Because the maps are bigger and have more objects in them and they are more vertical.

Uncharted is uncharted. It can not touch gears and that's coming from some1 who've played ****tone of uncharted beta and multiplayer after its release. Blowing heads and hearing that squishy noise is already a winner.

I'm going with this. Uncharted is a great mix-up of different genres. Gears of War 3 is purely a TPS. When it comes down to which is the better TPS, Gears of War curb stops the competition.
like in socom 4 i can jump over railings to staircases dont even have to finish walking all down them like gears of war. another good example there's a 2 story bulding and a staircare leading to lower level with 2 guardrails, u can just jump over railing and land on steps lol on gears u'd have to walk around railing and then down steps. gears of war 3 beta is alright but rather play socom 4 honestly.
Well, really you shouldn't decide which game is better months before the other is released. Second, one game mechanic and big maps makes a game awesome? =S Have you played the other Gears of War games? And why is this suddenly a big battle? Just because they're both 3rd person?
in socom 4 if a bunch of car's are in the middle of a road u can just jump on top/walk over top of car keep going. in gears of war 1 map with car's u gotta walk around the car's LMAO.
jumping on top of car's hood is can be done very quickly and keep going like car isnt there basically in socom 4 it takes more time to walk around the car in gears of war
You think not being able to see the entire map for 10 minutes is good? SOCOM always had a problem with long drawn out 1v1s because one guy wants to play hide-and-go-seek.
SOCOM 4 is garbage, beta made me want to throw my PS in the garbage and kill everyone from Zipper who destroyed my favorite franchise.

Nobody liked Gears 2, not even the people who play it.
I dont know if Socom 4 is a better game, but judgin from the past two gears game, the tank controls are kinda clunky. Gears is however very slow paced so its not that bad.
I only played the first GeoW. Didn't care for it. Clunky, as you said... and for mostly the same reasons. I don't get Epic's infatuation with a run button.
I played Socom: Confrontation and the beta for Socom 4. Didn't care for them either. Awful gameplay mechanics.
I think the third person perspective is difficult to nail. I dislike the way these games have FPS-like camera controls. I much prefer Uncharted where your character turns in all directions and you're only forced to rotate the camera to turn when you are aiming.
Gears of War 3 is 100,000,000 times better than socom 4 and GeOW3 isn't even out yet :lol:

you can do many things in socom 4 which that arent even possible in gears of war.
This is a pretty weak argument. Because guess what? I can do things in the Sims that you can do in either Socom OR Gears of War. I bet you can't take a shower or go to the toilet in Socom. Therefore, The Sims > Everything else.
Gears 3 isn't out yet so I can't say but personally I'll probably enjoy Socom 4 more because Socom MP is the best imo. Up until I played the Socom 4 beta I would have said that Gears 1 was the best TPS for MP this gen. Gears 1 had great MP but it was plagued by lag and host advantage, that got even worse in Gears 2 though it seems like Gears 3 will correct those mistakes and it can finally fulfill its potential as a MP title. In SP though there's only one winner.
