Socom discussions on official xbox forums

Ive just come from the call of duty board on the official xbox forums, and even the lemmings there have a big thread about socom2. This game was only ever rated an AA, why and how has it developed such a hardcore fanbase?

Im worried its not gonna be my kind of thing, just like team fortress 2 for consoles. All they ever go on about is clan wars and team work, taking things a bit too seriously IMO

I agree. And there's nothing wrong with clans or teamwork either. Teamwork is the best way to play MP shooters. You must not be very good, cod4ownzzz.

Its not that, im actually quite new to online shooters. I just dont like forced online teamwork, like gears for example has no deathmatch, so essentially you only have 4 players to hunt down. All online multiplayers should include single player deathmatch. Im certain tf2 doesn't include this, and is also not that popular online on consoles, and im not sure if deathmatch type game is in socom either.

all because GS rate something AA (which is still a good rating) doesnt mean people wont like itniall077

Thats absolutely true, but the way people go on about it, you'd think it was a AAAA game everywhere

This isn't Halo. these games (CoD4 and Socom) go for military realism. And in those situations that you see in these games, teamwork is needed.

This is my biggest beef with the Halo players. They think that it should be all everybody against everybody and respawns.

I dont hate teamwork, i just dont like games where it is the only game option available. I also hate games where its every man for himself, and arguing about stealing each others kills- there's a single player deathmatch for a reason!

People tend to super glue themselves to exclusive games. Timesplitters: FP was on like every system.

I play Socom 2 weekly , despite all of the problems with the game. It is still fun.

It is a buggy mess yet the gameplay was solid and the level design was great. Bugs are what kept it from being AAA.

some of the socom 2 mp maps are in confrontation :) ... cant wait.

i hope they put in desert glory also. That would be godly.

Yup, pretty much. For some reason, Socom always reminded me of those old budget PC shooters, Spec Ops.

They should have never added death match games and such to socom thats the only reason I dont like 2 as much as 1.

While that was the only sony shooter last gen I think its the best of the generation for consoles.

MP shooter gaming on the PC then and now makes consoles look really sad though.

I dont think so, i was on a lemming board, who have plenty of shooters and they were practically worshippping socom

I was addicted to Socom 2 as well. I hope Zipper learns that its a better game then 3.caseypayne69

I think Zipper's out of the picture. I know they are for confrontation. I'm not sure about Socom 4.
