i always hear blu-ray/sony fanboys saying that blu-ray is outselling hd dvd 2:1 or 3:1, but's not even half the story. that 2:1 sale in favor of blu-ray is only for weekly sales. in truth, both sales are about even with blu-ray having a slight advantage. the sales according to nielson/videoscan is 100 for blu-ray to 89.25 for hd dvd as of the week of march 11, (since inception). that's only because of the lack of hd dvd's for the winter months. toshiba has announced the release dates for 70 hd dvd titles to be released by july where as sony has stated the release of 60 blu-ray titles by the same date. now factor in the 5:1 hardware sales in blu-ray's favor and one could clearly see a huge discrepancy. how can a format with 5:1 hardware sales only sell 2:1 against the competition and have almost the same amount of movies in total? now, if blu-ray was dealing "teh uber pwnage" against hd dvd, then why is it that the bda expects to surpass hd dvd in 3 years and not 3 months? fox has postponed all but 2 titles indefinitely. these titles where supposed to be released during the winter but according to fox, due to security issues, these titles will not be on sale anytime soon. rumors are they are going to release titles on hd dvd, but that's only a rumor with no proof, so don't count on this, just yet anyway. this war is still in the beginning and is far from being over.

here's the press release for the 70 hd dvd titles
prepare for an intresting war this spring and summer when the hd dvd add-on gets around a $130 price tag and the $600 sony bd player is released (not the ps3, a standalone unit.) this may swing the hi-def disks sales in hd dvd's favor.
btw, miss kitt3n, nice sig, especially, "Phantom eat paint chips".
