I recently sold my 360 and used the money to buy a PS3. I had owned my 360 since launch and had alot of fun with it. The last several months however I noticed that xbox live moved super slow, and I couldn't stay connected long enough to make it through a multiplayer match. Also it would take a full minute to sign in and load the dashboard. I was afraid that it would break (again) soon and it was no longer under warranty. So I sold it and got a PS3. I had forgotten that the PS3 requires an install for every game (even demos). I was pleased to find that Playstation network runs silky smooth for downloads and online play. Also, A few titles have a visual edge on anything i had seen on 360. I got a logitech driving force gt and I'm eagerly waiting for GT5. I hope it's as good as Forza 3. I think it's funny how people always say that 360 has superior online gaming, from my experience it's the opposite. Anyone else jump ship from one to the other?

I used to be a 360 gamer... but I got sick of the RROD and switched. I haven't looked back.

Just a note: The reason PS3 demos require installation (from what I've heard) is that they come compressed, that way people with slower speeds have smaller downloads. Personally, my view of downloads is if possible I would rather have a 1GB file compressed to 500MB and take more time to decompress and install, than it be uncompressed and require no install. Where I live, there are download limits and all that jazz and sometimes the internet acts up so I don't mind having a super compressed file that takes10min+ to decompress if it cuts the download size in half :P

luckily for you, you're getting the present PSN. Vets like myself, had to live through the 06-07 PSN. Yeah it's blissful now, but a royal pain back in the day

Guess it's different for everybody. I have both, and the 360 is online faster, never a problem when I MP, and downloads much faster than my PS3.

Welcome to the dark side as we always say, I'd recommend Uncharted 2 as a good game to start with if you haven't already bought it, the story doesn't get boring, I beat it 3 times and still can have a good time playing it. the online is really fun/addicting as well.

Currently I have Burnout Paradise (Have to have something to use my driving force gt on), Little Big Planet (This is the first game I have ever owned that my wife bugs me to play, She loves it!), MGS4 (Incredible, 3/5 complete and problably best game I've ever played. Im a MGS fan, but this game is so awesome and filled with fan service it makes me giddy. Like at the end of act 3 when Liquid get the Guns of the Patriots!) Killzone is up next on my list. I was looking at Borderlands to play with my friends that are scattered across the US, but not untill they patch it.

Nice you got a PS3, shame you had to sell your 360, maybe it was the 360's ethernet port that was slowing things down and droping connections.

I made a similar switch about a month ago, got a great deal on my 360 and games and basically traded it straight up for a slim PS3.

I agree! I wish I could have kept it, but I would never be able to buy a PS3 without sellin it. I was thinking about buying a new network adapter to see if that would help, but I really didn't want to invest in that when it could also be the console itself, or my ISP interacting with Live.

Congrats on your new system. While you wait for GT5, I suggest you go and search around titles you might be interested in such as Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Motorstorm, LBP, and more. All great games.

RadecSupreme

As someone who also made that switch, I actually recommend that you forgo that list and save a few bucks by buying some outstanding older games: MGS4, R&C:ToD, Uncharted (the first one) are all under $30 now as Greatest Hits titles. Also, buy MLB09....

Yes, me. I just sold my 360 about a month ago and now am eagerly waiting for my PS3. My problem was the fact that there was no point paying for live anymore and I was getting bored that no exclusives really interested me.. So when my Live ran out, I sold it to a friend.

Good for you. However, I still play my 360 more often (slightly). I play a lot of Ucharted2 MP, but that will soon change when L4D2 comes out. In short, having both consoles is the way to go. There will be times when the 360 is hot and times when the PS3 is hot.

SO what happens in a month or two when you are bored with your PS3 for some lame reason and you realize there is a 360 exclusive you wish you could play? Do you sell your PS3 for another 360 and then make another thread trying to justify it?

I'm usually cool missing out on one or two exclusives that interest me. Right now I'm sure I'll be longing to play gears 3 when it hits. And yes, selling a console always leaves me emotional so I come to the boards for positive reinforcement... thanks alot :(

My point is that you can save money by buying older excellent games that you haven't played rather than new excellent games that you haven't played. If you haven't played MGS4, it's still new to you so why not save some cash and buy the games you recommended when they're older and cheaper.

Being that the PS3 is so cheap now, you really should have tried to hold onto the 360. I never recommend selling any system. I sold my SNES, NES, and N64 when I needed money. Man I regret that..well mainly the SNES and NES, I didn't have alot of games for the N64.

Motorstorm is an old game......Whats your point?:|

My point is that you can save money by buying older excellent games that you haven't played rather than new excellent games that you haven't played. If you haven't played MGS4, it's still new to you so why not save some cash and buy the games you recommended when they're older and cheaper.

I see. Still no need for him to disregard m list. If he wants new great games then I made the right list.

Being that the PS3 is so cheap now, you really should have tried to hold onto the 360, and just bought a PS3. Having all the systems is great. Talk about a wealth of games to play.

I never recommend selling any system. I sold my SNES, NES, and N64 when I needed money. Man I regret that..well mainly the SNES and NES, I didn't have alot of games for the N64.

Got MGS4 yet? Best game this generation.

Kinda useless if you haven't played the previous games. Or atleast for it to be the best game this gen...

It was the first MGS game i played and i agree with the GOTG claim :)

I actually sold my 360 for a PS3 in early 2008 and regretted it deeply until i got another 360.

Honestly, if MGS4 had come out on 360 as well ( i know not possible) on June 12th 2008, I would prolly have kept my 360 or sold my PS3 for another one

[QUOTE="jmartin1016"]

Anyone else jump ship from one to the other?

wait... so you sold your 360 because there was something wrong with your internet connection? :|

the problem that you were having had nothing to do with the hardware of the 360

I'm pretty sure my problem was with the hardware. I just wasn't sure if it was the wireless adapter or the console. It also could have been Time Warner cable interfacing with Live. I have 6 Wireless devices, and they all work flawlessly. And my new PS3 works flawlessly. I didn't want to sink anymore money/time into trying to et it to work, after going through every tech support forum I could find on that issue, I was just tired of it.

Also, being new to PSN, I don't have many friends. I only play a few time a week, (Job,Wife,Small Child)but I would appreciate any friend requests from such an outstanding group like this!

most likely it was the wireless adapter... still not an issue with the actual 360. but hey, either way you cant go wrong

I'm really considering doing this also. My 360 is just losing its edge and the old, backwards compat PS3s are looking really really nice.
