Some good news about Fromsoft.

So, the head of Fromsoft has stated in an Interview that he wants to make a traditional RPG.

Finally, a Fromsoft game I can get into, and thankfully it won't be an Enchanted Arms 2, people who've played it should know what I mean.

So, SW would you be down for a traditional RPG? I know I would, but only if its turn based.

And just to SW it up a little, sounds like no Bloodborne 2 (I just had too🤣)

It could be the new Skyrim.

They have been remaking the same game for 15 years. I don’t think they should stop. It’s what the fans want from them.

I'm all for FromSoftware trying new things, making new IP, etc. They released Amored Core 6 reletaively recently.

Make an action-adventure game. RPG degrades action and limits other traversal mechanics.

I don't like to hear this one bit. I couldn't give a shit about a JRPG of any kind, and them wasting years of development on something that might end up being just OK like AC6 ain't good.

But i like his stance on sequels. This is a game director with a brain.

Despite Miyazaki's interest in developing a JRPG, don't expect FromSoftware to releaseEnchanted Arms 2anytime soon. In fact, don't expect the company to return tothe worlds of most old FromSoft gamesat all under Miyazaki's leadership, as the studio head isn't interested in creating new entries in franchises that he wasn't involved in the creation of. Explaining this stance of his, Miyazaki said that he thinks "a lot of these games are so intertwined with the directors who almost invented that style of game."

And there's a reason why the Aussie wants a turn based game. He is senior citizen, soulslikes are too fast for his 75 years old reflexes.

At this point I'll be surprised if they make a game i wont like.

And the game is good, but its missing the core traits of their soulslikes. Exploration, immersion, sense of mystery, etc its not there, and to me that's a big problem.

Meh, wait and see. Though I do like Souls games and such, and though FromSoft practically is the godfather of them, they're not the only ones making them, so, sure they'll be others to fill in the gaps there in the meantime.

The truth is, there's nobody else in the whole industry that is even at 50% of what fromsoft does, so no, there's nobody else to fill in the gaps, far from it.

I would definitely be interested in seeing them make a turn based JRPG. Didn’t particularly care too much for Enchanted Arms though.

I'd be OK with that. Straight forward and fun. Would like to see them incorporate their version of a better combat system than the just-barely-good-enough that we find in Elder Scrolls games. Somewhere between Elden Ring and The Witcher 3.

But, you know, still accessible to filthy casuals like myself.

If it's a turn-based JRPG, though, probably not interested in it.

That's cool. Too many great developers get stuck churning out the same games over and over due to long dev times and huge budgets. It's nice to see any with the clout to do what they want.

Why would i have an issue shilling a good RPG? I don't have any issues with RPG's. Its a jrpg that i don't want to see from them, and by jrpg i am talking about a title with actual jrpg characteristics like what's in final fantasy, not a normal rpg made in japan, making it a jrpg.

I want them to reconsider another King's Field game or Eternal Ring 😂

Then again, they did develop Enchanted Arms and it was one of the better JRPGs during the PS3 era.

Man it was so cringe, I actually stopped playing the game around a 1/4 of the way in because of it, I eventually went back to finish the game.

Honestly, I think I only remember it cos it's one of the earliest JRPGs for the 360. I remember it having atrocious voice acting too

@hardwenzen: Calling games like the Mass Effect as rpgs is silly, third person action adventure games is more like it. Fallout are either first or third person shooters.

Like I said the rpg genre and most other genres aren't really genres anymore, just multigenre games.

It is an rpg that happens to have a gun in it🤦‍♂️Fallout NV is even more of an rpg.

@hardwenzen: Nah I've beating the first 3 ME games, and Fallout 3, 4 & NV and none of them are rpgs. If we're going to call them rpgs then we may aswell count the Division 1 & 2 as rpg's.

Like I said every genre has been turned into a steaming mess.

Division is just like your Remant, there's no decision making. All you do is kill shit. There's a lot of content in all mass effect titles and fallouts that isn't focused on killing but talking to npcs and so on, something you see in every rpg and not a brainless shooter.
