XBL gamertags can get hacked/intruded upon as well. Anyways, like others have stated, the TC could very well be lying (I mean, why post it in system wars?)

I have heard this as well, that XBL CS staff were quite lax with their security and identification procedures and were giving out personal info so people could log in to accounts.
The best way to make sure you dont get hacked is to use pre pay cards, never associate your credit card with your account.

Yup, i didn't have my card attached anyway. but still ... i wouldnt mind my account back, as they changed the password, and associated Live ID.

I had my account hacked once, it's not hard to get it back, all you need is the email address of the person who hacked your account (the one he's using to log into your account) It will usually be present when you try to log into your account. Then, you need to go into account recovery where it will ask you for your birth date and the answer to your security question. It's a good system because no one can change the birth date or security question of your account, not even the account owner. Though bad if you've forgotten your security question answer.

Its not a prob to use debit etc, but just do not give anyone your private information and so on. And change your passwords frequently.
