Ok here's the situation, right now I own a Wii, I'v got enough money to get a 360.

My problem is this- if I get a 360 now I can only afford maybe one game. However I could also go ahead and buy a bunch of Wii games I'v missed out on and still have money for November/December releases.

So which choice do you think is best? Is the 360 really so good that it justifies owning two consoles(A first for me) and skipping out on a bunch on new wii games?

I know this is system wars but if anyone can veer off from flaming bias and help me out I'd appreciate it.

I'd say get the 360 now and buy one game for it, and then buy the Wii games you missed later when you get some more money.

Agreed. Xbox360 and a Wii is the best combination for value, visuals, and exclusives. You will be doing yourself a favour.

Depends how much you like the Wii's fall/holiday lineup. I own a Wii and 360 myself, and I love having both, so it's definately worth having both, but worth missing out on the Wii's lineup this fall/holiday season? Not IMO.

i'd buy the wii games. remember that the 360 will only get cheaper later on and they'll also have the ones that don't over heat. if you buy one now you'll probably end up with one of the flawed systems.

That really depends. Mainly on your gaming preferences. If you're like me, you have a deep love for mario, smash bros and metroid :D With Super paper mario, metroid prime 3, mario galaxy and SSBB either availible or soon too be, it might be worth it to push off the 360. Paper mario and prime 3 will keep you busy for a little while, plus there are some 3rd party games coming out soon that are interesting.

However, if you aren't crazy for those games, and could easily wait on them until you can afford it.. then you may want to go with the 360 afterall. But agian, that depends on what you like. Perhaps most of its quality games aren't your thing. But you did say you could only get one game.. what would that be? Halo 3? Gears? If you said anything that didn't have a ton of value, i'd say just buy a few wii games and save the rest of the money so that you have a variety of games to play over the next few months without completely shutting out the possibility of getting a box in the future. Bioshock among other games are great, but they will not keep you busy until christmas. Halo 3 or gears might, if you like their style!

Though i will say having both is great.

its tricky.. what games are you going to get for the 360? id get halo 3, gears, and bioshock.

what would you get for the wii? smash, galaxy, etc? do you have metroid prime 3?

idk it depends on your preferences...

im looking forward to more games on the wii than the 360...

for the wii im getting:

zck and wiki

galaxy

brawl

mp3

dewy (if it is good)

bwii (if it is good)

forever blue (if it is good)

REUC (if it is good)

guitar hero 3 (my brother and sis only have a wii back home)

for the 360:

i just got bioshock

halo 3

maybe mass effect

and that is it....

im not interested in more shooters like cod4, etc and i really dont like ubisoft games so im not interested in AC.

I'm riding the Wii60 train right now and I can't say that I'm disappointed. I've had a 360 since launch and a Wii since July and I love both. In all honesty though, there are only a few games worth playing on the Wii (RE4, Zelda, SPM, Metroid). You can get tons of great 360 games really cheap, so I would definitely get a 360 if I were you.

OK my response will be a bit lengthy but I think it will help you. I myself was only gonna own one console this gen. Gaming has become a VERY expensive hobby so I picked up a 360 since it had a few games I REALLY wanted to play and the Wii and PS3 were light years from being released. I enjoy my 360 VERY much and it is my main console. The games look fantastic, the on-line is amazing and the amount of stuff it offers is great. Just recently I picked up a Wii after debating about getting it for months. That and the fact you couldn't get one anywhere! I actually enjoy it more then I thought I would but realize that it is just for relaxing gaming nothing crazy since peering over the release list coming up I'm only interested in about 3 games whereas for 360 I want about 11. My advice is this. Really look at what's coming up for both consoles and decide on what you REALLY want. if there's alot of games for 360 you want and can hold off on a few Wii titles then get the 360. If more Wii titles appeal to you then get the games. The 360 is light years ahead of the wii in terms of graphics, sound and on-line integration. In fact it's the on-line LIVE which will probably hook you into it more seeing as you can download demos for just about EVERY game, the sheer amount of movies and video clips you can download, the interactivity of playing with others in just about every game and the unified chatting feature. I also advise IF purchasing the 360 you check the manufacturer's date. This way you can help avoid the RROD problem plagued by older consoles. Anything manufactured in 07 is fine they ALSO have the HDMI ports on them now so if you check the side of the box and see HDMI port you should be safe. To FURTHER secure your purchase I recommend getting the STORE extended warranty. While Microsoft has your back with the three year warranty offer it takes a VERY long time to get it repaired and I've heard stories of people getting even worse consoles in return. This way with the store warranty if ANYTHING goes wrong you can exchange it RIGHT ON THE SPOT no worries. All the best in your decision.

It depends. If you're really looking forward to Brawl and Galaxy, you might want to hold off for now on the 360. But if you think you may like what the 360 has to offer more, I would go with that. Personally I think mas effect looks unbelieveable, and if there was one game I had to play the rest of the year, it would be that.

Yeah, diffentily get that WII60 combo. Remeber that your choices of games will increase ten fold, plus if you can't afford a game right now then by the time you can the price would have gone down. Then your only problem will been finding time to play all these great games on both consoles. :D

I guess I'll bite the bullet and get the 360 now, with the store warranty(hardware was my main worry).

I'v been saying I'm going to buy one for two years but every time I fold and bought games for consoles I already had. I'll go pick up a 360 later today so I can stop putting it off.; Thanks for all the responses.

If the Wii games appeal to you, then get the games instead.

Sure the games might be good, but i'm more than happy with my 360, mainly because I play with my friends online all the time.

Compare the number of games you want, and whichever ones seems better go with that.

I have a wii and a 360. As long as you're the type of person that keeps their warranty information up to date, get the 360. As long as it doesn't break, you won't regret it. This gen you can't have only one system, you need a wii and one of the other two. Because the PS3 didn't prove itself yet, that other system is better off being the 360. The 360 has a lot good games and has more on the way.

Unless the PS3 does something earth shaking in the next 12 months, a wii and 360 will set you up for the rest of this generation.

If you have an HDTV you wont want to play your Wii anymore... the only game I would possibly pick up on wii is SMG, but im reluctant to sell because I believe Atlus will begin making some great games for Wii next year. The 360 games to date are all around superior though in game value.

Ok here's the situation, right now I own a Wii, I'v got enough money to get a 360.

If you have enough money to buy an Xbox with a hard drive and can go online then I would get one. Then you can download loads of free demos and movies etc, and play some cheap Xbox Live Arcade games if you want.

Then at some point you will be able to afford the next few decent Wii games that are coming out sometime down the line. There are not too many to worry about anyway.

I play the 360 the most by far. Due to it's current library in games, the great online serviceand downloadable content. Actually beenabout selling my Wii but great titles such as Twilight Princess, RE and the upcomming Super Mario Galaxy is what keeps me from doing so.

Dude, the 360 kicks ass. Even with the crappy ass hardware (which MS claims is getting better) Their library is unmatched right now.

But really it's all about taste. I hope you are enjoying your purchase.

Gears of War 9.6 - Best next gen FPS and multi player next gen game so far. But maybe for 4 more days until Halo comes out

Oblivion 9.6 - Best next gen RPG game. Plus just get GOTY edition which comes with both expansions Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles.

Forz Motorsports 2 - 9.2 best racing next gen game so far if you are in to simulation if not you have Burnout and Project Gotham Racing which are both 8.8s

Then you have the Tom Clancey games. The first Ghost Recon AWF got a 9.2, and R6 Vegas got a 9.1

Bioshock - 9.0 arguably game of the year. Everybody else besides Gamespot had this game at about 9.5 or so.

Perfect Dark Zero 9.0 - Just another AAA game. Might of got too high of a rating because it was one of the first next gen games to come out.

Plus you have Mass Effect and Halo 3both coming out soon which are exclusives and projected to be 9.0+ and also Assians Creed, and Call of Dutty 4 which are both projected to be AAA games too.

Say Mass Effect and Halo 3 both get AAAs which is pretty much for sure going to happen then 360 would have 7 AAA games which are on no other system while the Wii and PS3 have a combined 1 console exclusive AAA. And they have by far the most AA titles and A titles. Plus Xbox 360 live mulitplayer is by far the best and it is only like $4 a month.

So yes you should get an XBOX.

I have both. I just got the 360 and I only have one game(GOW). I have a bunch of wii games. I'am playing the 360 more because I only have 1 month of xbox live. I will be playing the wii more when ssbb and all the other games come out.

I'm now officially an owner of an Xbox 360, and a copy of Dead Rising.

Giggidy.

Why Dead Rising?

You couldn't hold off until Halo 3 or at least get Bioshock? :|

I'v been a huge zombie obessive freak since forever, I'v wanted to try this game more than the others since it came out.

That and I needed to buy soemthing cheap until I get paid next week. My younger siblings should be home in about ten minutes- can't wait to see them freak out when they find out what I bought.

I'd say get the 360 now and buy one game for it, and then buy the Wii games you missed later when you get some more money.Hockey_Slayer

Agreed.

Gotcha.

What are your plans on future purchases?
