atleast there would be only fan noise with a new cartridge based console.
lol ps3/wii/360 you have cd-drive noise and fan noise.
Except modern consoles don't use "CDs". ;)SpiritOfFire117
dvd/blu ray is a cd that just holds more info when it comes down to it.
Ive never had a cartridge break on me in my life.
I have broke many cd based games and had to buy a new copy.

yeah but it was rubbish and the analogs used to break so easily, i will give you another thing the N64 has over modern consoles though, RAM PAK's, you could actually upgrade the amount of RAM.[QUOTE="heeeeeeeeeweeee"][QUOTE="LustForSoul"]At least the controllers don't need the 3 hands.delta3074

The ram pack actually allowed n64 to run games at a higher display resolution.

Not true, it imsipred them to put it on there controllers without fearing failure.Majoras Mask! :o
Actually I cant think of a damn thing... well besides having enough nostalgia power to to make people think SM64 is one of the greatest platformers to this day. Thats pretty damn amazing.

Better than trying to remove scratches
blu ray doesnt scatch as easy as dvd or cd but i bet you anything you can still scratch it or crack the disk.
I remember i had cartridge in my floor lol i accidentally moved my chair and sat down on the cart and cracked a hole in the case but it still worked fine lol f-zero for snes.
If i sat down on blu ray disk with chair leg lol it would of broke the disk unlike my f-zero for snes.
i once got mad at my bro and smashed his copy of golden eye 64 and it still worked after. now that is quailty! Cds are so easy to break they need to be in a case!

CDs are better than cartridges in every way.
Except for durability, size, the fact you don't need to keep the box, they are silent, no load times in any way (Yes, modern games still have load time), there is no use for a memory card even though you can still use one, are better at preventing piracy than cds, and don't scratch.
Do you know how expensive it would be for 8-25 gb's of flash memory? Plus the plastic and such around it?
It's too expensive now.
If consoles did use flash memory for some reason that would be awesome though. 0 load times.

OoT is an outstanding game and definitely holds up to this day, but I really cant see why people still think its "teh best!". Had either MM, WW, TP, or SS been the first 3d Zelda to launch in place of OoT, people would have loved them the same, if not more. (even assuming that any of the above would have been limited to N64 graphics).
I understand the magical feeling that OoT brought to the table. It was jaw dropping amazing at the time, but imo has been well surpassed.
Take SMB3 and NSMBW for example. Both outstanding games and both very enjoyable today, but people still have a hard on for SMB3 and claim it to be the best 2d platformer of all time, while NSMBW is considered just another good game. The flaw here is that if NSMBW(with NES graphics) would have launched along side SMB3 it would have been considered a much better game.
I think too many people get caught up in the impact of a game rather than objectively viewing the games for how they measure up in the present. Thats not to say older games cant be just as good, or even better than games today.
Oh well, I'm just glad most people got over FFVII and starting thinking about the game objectively. I'm just waiting for the same to happen with OoT.
And this:
AvatarMan96
Groundbreaking for its time, but it's crap now. Only the core mechanics hold up, everything else is bare bones.
Majora's Mask on the other hand has held up incredibly well.

I don't really see what makes MM SO different from OoT other than the gameplay mechanic. There's really no difference: same graphics, same gameplay, just a different gameplay MECHANICThat's not an advantage the n64 had, and if it was then I see why the N64 went nowhere that gen. There was no jaw dropping involved.Uh, yes, yes there was. Maybe YOU weren't particularly impressed, but the game wowed millions of gamers and all the critics at the time. There was nothing else like it before. For most gamers it was an unbelievable jump. That is why the game is still given so much unwarranted worship and put up on a pedestal today. That is why it is still the highest scoring game of all time to this day.
Feel free to live in some wacky fantasy world, but whether or not you impressed by the game at the time has absolutely no bearing on the way the game was received as a whole.

Inspired is a fancy way of saying it was a badly executed good idea. Just saying, but since I bought an old N64 to play old games I missed, the controller is uncomfortablewith the three handlesThere was no jaw dropping involved.[QUOTE="Pro-Gear-Spec"][QUOTE="AvatarMan96"]

I could say the same thing for MGS4 and and GTAIV but I bet that doesn't count though. let's be honest, wowed millions of gamers? You mean the small amount that actually played the game? You eman the fact that the series sells lees and less every single time that one game is rereleased even fans of the game don't rebuy it? Critics? I don't know whether they were paid off or any other excuse but there was nothing amzaing about the game to the levels you were implying. it did nothing impressive that didn't stop it from being shoved off rather quickly. Now now, before your fanboy instincts attack me, because they will, realize something: 1. Not many people played the game 2. Not that many people who did was interested in the game 3. Reasons 2 and 3 question these critics. 4. A lot of these critics don't bring up the game much anymore but GS and IGn have for many times. 5. The Zelda fanbase is split in many diffren pieces and flavors. 6. Quite a few LTTP fans did not like the game 7. It barely helped the N64, but I know it barely if at all moved any consoles. Notice I have not talked about the actual game. Just pointed that out. I am saying it's not impressive and it never was and that' the truth despite what oter peoples opinion you think are better than yours say. However, I never actually talked about the game. So hold that fanboy in you for now.[QUOTE="Wiimotefan"][QUOTE="Pro-Gear-Spec"] There was no jaw dropping involved.Pro-Gear-Spec

I think its absurd the amount of praise the game gets. My point was that while OoT was fantastic at the time, it really isn't worthy of much praise these days.
IMO the Zelda series goes like this.
SS > MM = WW > TP > LttP > OoT > LoZ > Zelda 2.
Not exactly what I would call an OoT fanboy.
Just because you're some 90s kid that was too young to remember the shockwaves OoT sent through the industry doesn't mean it didn't happen. Try again son.
