People need to stop excusing the lack of games for a system of their choice compared to the 360 by blaming the 360s year-long head start. Anytime a Wii or PS3 fanboy gets stumped when asked to name currently released games that make their system "so great", they come back with "how many sweet games did the 360 have between Nov 05 and Aug 06???". The thing is, Microsoft chose to have that head start.

The excuse of "the console is just getting started" no longer applies IMO. It has been almost a year since launch for the two systems, and at this point, they need to put up or shut up. The Wii is about to start with MP3, and the PS3 is making an effort with Warhawk. Until either gets more great games, or until Wii/PS3 FBs find some other path of logic to declare their systems superior by, I think we can conclude the 360 is ahead with full momentum at this point. Flame shield deploy...

Um, the head start does count. The XBox 360 has had twice as much time to build up a good library as the PS3 and Wii, and that's precisely what makes the XBox 360 the best home console available right now.

What I'm saying is that it is no coincidence that the xbox team got its crap together and launched a year earlier. Its like saying the only reason I can't beat my friend in tennis is he practiced all summer and I just started practicing. Also, as the other consoles gain momentum and reach the level of quality games the 360 had last year, the 360 shows no sign of running out of steam, and is setting a higher benchmark right now for where the PS3/Wii need to be next year by your standards. It could be possible that neither console ever catches up, like how the PS2 stayed out in front all last gen despite stellar lineups from the GC and Xbox.

If prematurely releasing poor hardware all in the name of beating the competition to the marketplace is 'getting your crap together', I guess I never want to have my crap together. As a system analyst, if I ever allowed a piece of software to reach the production stage of the system development lifecycle with as many problems as the Xbox 360, I'd find myself without a job! If I had rushed through my Master's Thesis just to get it done before the others in my field of study, would I have gotten a graduate degree? Probably not. Sometimes slow and steady wins the race. I find at work when I'm in a hurry to get a project done, I don't put near the attention to detail said project requires and deserves.

I'm sorry, but your argument is COMPLETELY flawed. Practicing Tennis and relasing a product (and a poorly manufactured one at that), is in no means an accurate analogy. Ford and GM have been making automobiles far longer than Toyota has even existed, yet Toyota is the world wide #1 automotive seller. Why is that? Ford and GM had a head start. They've been in the market far longer than Toyota.

360 shows no signs of running out of steam? It's still being outsold, handily, by a 7 year old last gen system! After Halo, what big names does the Xbox have to roll out? Fanboys and their lack of logic drives me crazy...

"The Xbox 360 had a year head start" is a pointless statement because it does not change that the Xbox 360 has a larger library. The Wii and the PS3 aren't going to miraculously "catch up" - at a certain point, all the systems will have enough games that it doesn't matter as much, but as that point is a year or two down the road, the 360's superior library is not an advantage that simply dissappears because of its release date.

Consumers don't bring calendars to the store when they decide what system to buy.

When Xbox 1 came out, PS2 fans used the argument that it had a large library of games. The simple fact is that consoles need games to succeed and the 360 has them in large numbers and high quality. It is completely fair to say that the 360 has more games.

You tell them. BTW i do really like the 360 but you just has really good points.

I'll tell you what, I'll never knock you for enjoying your 360 either. I've never said anything derrogatory about Wii lovers, even though I couldn't see myself really enjoying the console myself. I'm sure even I would like a 360 if I owned one. I just get sick of seeing lemming fanboys telling me that I made a mistake and that I'm a fool for enjoying my PS3. I feel that it gives me nearly the same experience with fewer headaches than what I would experience with a 360.

Hardware failures would make me mad. But to the next guy, it's a hassle that he doesn't mind dealing with. It doesn't mean that I'm right and he's wrong, it just means we have different preferences. I'm glad you like your 360. I'd genuinely feel bad for you if your experience is miserable. As a gamer, though not exactly a hardcore, I want my fellow gamers to have fun first and foremost. I don't care if 'my' console outsells another. I just care that I enjoy my experience with it.

When I say momentum, I mean games. I refuse to judge success based on sales alone, because some of the best games I have ever played bombed financially. I mean the games to come, especially after Halo 3 drops.

The head start matters IMO but if you think about it, all 360 games are filler since most people only bought the 360 for Halo 3 anyways.

Well it makes sense....but in the long run it doesn't matter.

The 360 came out a year early and has a larger library....but it is also reaping the consequences of that with unreliable machines. It's a two way street.

Though I could only understand about half of what you stated, you make a wonderful point that I had not considered in the past. I've always contended that there are 80+ million PS2 gamers waiting to make the jump to the PS3, I had not put the system support lifecycle together as you have. It's very true, too. If you're a lemming or a sheep, you really had little choice but to adopt the next gen. Support of the Gamecube and Xbox were dropped so quickly, you really had no choice. Wait to adopt next gen and be left with no new games to play, or buy a Wii/ Xbox 360, respectively. Meanwhile, PS2 has enjoyned fantastic support after the release of the PS3, to the PS3s current detriment. But once Sony and 3rd parties switch their support to 100% on the PS3, the sales, I believe, will rack up.

Yeah i agree. i only had a Wii at one point and i was sick of everyone telling me it sucks when i really like it. I belive everyone should play the games they like no matter what system they are on. If you like FPS game fine play the 360. But dont tell me not to get a PS3 becuase they onl like FPS.

What the heck?So it is just an excuse now that Wii and PS3 don't have as many games as 360 even though 360 HAD A ONE YEAR HEAD START? Great logic there!
