[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"][QUOTE="Sonick54"] [QUOTE="stereointegrity"]i want an open world sonic game where u travel from place to place fighting bosses...not so much linearity as the last few onesDahaka-UK
you want to kill sonic even more?!
Haha, that's what I was thinking. The open world structure in the last couple Sonics just didn't work. Sonic The Hedgehog for PS3 and 360 was a complete mess. The handheld versions score better because they're linear side scroller games, which helps keep up the fast pace that Sonic games used to be all about, but the open world style gameplay has killed the speed and made it into a pretty mediocre to downright terrible gaming experience. Making a Sonic game even more open, would be a disaster.
It worked well in the Sonic Adventure 1 I think where there was a city and some ruins to explore. But in Sonic 360/PS3 it sucked exploring these boring cities with retarded people everywhere. It can have some form of exploration like SA1 had but not a huge open world.
Even though SA1 is not a 'bad' game, I still don't want to go back to it. Sonic has just never felt right with 360 analog controls and camera controls. It slows the game down, forces the game to use a goofy targeting system, and sucks a lot of platforming out of the game. That, and all the 3D sonic games have terrible stories and music...but that's not the 3D's fault, that's just poor art direction on behalf of the devs.
Thankfully it seems from the vid that the cheesy rock music from secret rings is gone. And if their smart, they'll drop all voice acting and dialog. I'd really like to see sonic tell it's story though nothing but action and music (kinda like fantasia). If you need voice overs or text to tell a story in a sonic game, then either the story is too deep, or your taking it too seriously.
