Incase anyone hasn't seen it.

The return of Sonic?

I still don't believe anything until Sega confirms it. Remember this can be an April Fools Joke.

It does look good suprisingly but seriously if thats a fan made game or something, It totally puts anything Sega have released to shame. Though I'm not really sure if thats a Wii or PS3/360 game if it is real. Could be a Wiiware game or an XBOX LIVE Arcade game. But I hope it's a full blown Sonic platformer for a console.

Looks like the sequal for Secret RingsNintendo_Man

Damn I was just about to say that, also hopefully and by the look of it they have perfected the Secret Rings's gameplay and instead of always being behind sonic its now has some 2D sections to it. If it comes out for Wii I'll buy it cos Secret Rings was good.

Rumors have it that Sonic fights a werewolf clone of himself in this one. That has me worried about this game already :(

looked into it a bit more, looks like there is going to be some kind of warewolf sonic. Don't know if sonic transforms into one or if its a whole new character.

I will consider getting it too since i also got Secret Rings but i do think they should get rid of spells. Though having a timer on screen worries me because the biggest problem on Secret Rings was you were only rewarded for finishing levels quickly but not how you did it.

I never played Secret rings but I never liked the idea of not being able to just stop. I hope it's not like that where you just keep moving.

Haha, that's what I was thinking. The open world structure in the last couple Sonics just didn't work. Sonic The Hedgehog for PS3 and 360 was a complete mess. The handheld versions score better because they're linear side scroller games, which helps keep up the fast pace that Sonic games used to be all about, but the open world style gameplay has killed the speed and made it into a pretty mediocre to downright terrible gaming experience. Making a Sonic game even more open, would be a disaster.

Don't confuse Sonic Team with SEGA Studios USA. Sonic Team used to be known as Sonic Team Japan, and SEGA Studios USA used to be known as Sonic Team USA.

Sonic Team did Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure DX, Rush, Rush Adventure, the Advance series, and Secret Rings. SEGA Studios USA did Shadow, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Heroes, Rivals, and Rivals 2. Riders and Riders 2 were done by former Sonic Team USA members at UGA (another SEGA studio).

The only bad Sonic game that the real Sonic Team was involved in was Sonic the Hedgehog.

It worked well in the Sonic Adventure 1 I think where there was a city and some ruins to explore. But in Sonic 360/PS3 it sucked exploring these boring cities with retarded people everywhere. It can have some form of exploration like SA1 had but not a huge open world.

Even though SA1 is not a 'bad' game, I still don't want to go back to it. Sonic has just never felt right with 360 analog controls and camera controls. It slows the game down, forces the game to use a goofy targeting system, and sucks a lot of platforming out of the game. That, and all the 3D sonic games have terrible stories and music...but that's not the 3D's fault, that's just poor art direction on behalf of the devs.

Thankfully it seems from the vid that the cheesy rock music from secret rings is gone. And if their smart, they'll drop all voice acting and dialog. I'd really like to see sonic tell it's story though nothing but action and music (kinda like fantasia). If you need voice overs or text to tell a story in a sonic game, then either the story is too deep, or your taking it too seriously.

How is that killing Sonic?

Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 (The only GOOD 3D Sonic games) weren't linear. They were sort of like Mario, you go around to different levels getting Emeralds instead of Stars.

Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 (The only GOOD 3D Sonic games) weren't linear. They were sort of like Mario, you go around to different levels getting Emeralds instead of Stars.

The Sonic Adventure games shined in their "Action" stages rather than their "adventure" stages, which is why the adventure stages were not present in Sonic Heroes and Sonic and the Secret Rings.

The largest flaws in the original Sonic Adventure games were camera and control, and both of those issues were improved up in Heroes and further improved upon in Secret Rings.
